The Good. We found a facebook post advertising a taco flight and a margarita flight . That’s why we went .
Margaritas are decent size and flavor for the price .
The salsa is very mild and was well enjoyed .
Rice and beans were top notch. Normally I find Spanish rice very dry . This rice was not dried out and actually has flavor .
Service was ok. Neither good or bad.
Guacamole was prepared well in advance . But was still delicious. It was a very pale green.
The Bad … we ordered 2 queso’s . This cheese dip was a bowl of warm milk. I work in the restaurant industry including Mexican food . I know what it should be like. You could literally drink it with a small straw . Note the short video .
2 daughters ordered chicken cheese and rice 1 with added shrimp . Chicken was extremely dry sitting on top of rice. The cheese was so runny , it didn’t even stick to the chicken or rice . Absolutely not seasoned . The shrimp was cold and very rubbery and tough .
Ordered Carnitas tacos and they were out settled for shredded beef tacos . Dry and no sauce provided for those
Shrimp taco plate . Again Shrimp over cooked and rubber and served with fresh jalapeño… no where on the menu did it say jalapenos. We didn’t complain . She scrapped them off
Taco flight . 2 asada and 2 al pastor . Pastor was very delicious Asada was over cooked cubed steak without any flavor . Was provided .4 salsas without any explanation of kind . 2 so spicy you need an extinguisher 😂
A taco enchilada plate. Very good however they brought the wrong taco and had to wait for it to be corrected
2 fish taco plate very dry and served with jalapeno without any the menu stating jalapeno used . I did ask for some salsa verde . Which helped the dryness . I also ordered a single asada street taco . Very tough meat with no flavor .
Over all a disappointing night . We ate without complaining.
With all the Mexican choices in Springfield . Unfortunately we will not be back .
This place has decent prices . 7 people with entrees and 7 sodas with margaritas flight . 2 queso and 2...
Read moreOur food was unseasoned. I complained nicely to the waitress who brought the mng who didn’t know why or what was going on. Then she asked what I had or what the problem was. But it was everything ! It was a salt n pepper shredded chicken - no Mexican seasoning. Let me just wrap this up and say, the tamale was tough and dry also just shredded pork sans Mexican seasonings. Everything on my plate was this way. Honestly the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced. My husbands food was the same. I asked if they used cumin or any known Mexican seasonings and she replied, "cumin?" She was lost. I just wanted to know if this was normal for their restaurant. She asked us, “well where are you from?!?”What the heck does that have to do with it????
They were very accommodating wait staff but had no knowledge of Mexican food. I can get past the dive decor(sometimes the best food is from a hole in the wall dive bar) but I was in the mood for Mexican or even southwest food- hell even homemade would be better from a box. I left my food and pushed my plate away. They offered us a gift card and asked if they could "try again?!?!?" I appreciate their kind gesture but how do you try again, are you going to season it this time?! I had shredded chicken and also ground beef - even the salsa was sans peppers or flavor. Where is the real reviews, like from the people next to us who were galking at their plates - very unhappy! we only tried this place because of the reviews- ugh- who wrote...
Read moreI have been to Perches several times with friends and I just don’t get it. Their salsa lacks flavor and their extra picante sauce appears to come from a bottle. They don’t seem to put a lot of effort into their sauces, and the dishes I’ve tried have been equally insipid.
During our last visit, the waiter immediately asked us if we wanted guacamole and cheese dip with our chips. Of course, we did. Later, I noticed on the menu we could have gotten a better deal by ordering the “trio” of guacamole, cheese dip, and bean dip. For a better price, we could have had the bean dip, too. But, that wasn’t the case. However, the waiter was able to increase the amount of our check in anticipation of a bigger tip, I suppose. That didn’t happen. Ten percent was quite generous, especially considering the fact that he asked us if we wanted him to lower the blinds to get the blaring sun out of our eyes. When he asked about the blinds, I replied that I was glad I didn’t have to ask. Why don’t they just lower the blinds during sunset? My advice is to never sit facing west in this restaurant. You might leave blind, but that could be advantageous to avoiding two Feng Shui nightmares—the interior and exterior design of this restaurant.
That being said, I’m giving Perches one star as a symbol of hope. I’ve heard the “caldos” are quite good, so I will return to try the “Caldo de siete mares” and the “Caldo de res.” I am still hoping for a “¡Jonrón!” and a...
