I’m very selective about where I stay. If I’m wanting to stay someplace unique or treat myself to a high end hotel experience, I’m looking for value, without sacrificing my standards. When I found this place online, and wasn’t really sure where it was located, in reference to the distance to the town. When I arrived, I was surprised that the Nordic Lodge sits right in the town center. As I checked in, I was pleased about how friendly the front desk clerk was. My room was on the upper floor of the motel. Although this place is older, it’s been well loved, and taken care of. My room was clean, and relatively quiet. It’s a motel, so you’re always going to have parking lot noise, and people walking by your room. The pool and hot tub are lovely. The pool area backs up to Soda Creek, so it was really relaxing to sit, and listen to the rushing water. I loved my stay at the Nordic Lodge! Was it perfect? No, but often high end hotels are not perfect. It was an excellent value, for the money. If you’re a hotel snob, don’t stay here. If you appreciate character and don’t want to waste your money on expensive lodging, then this is the place for you. The room was pleasant, the pool area was perfect, the location was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

So sad about what has happened to this place. This was our fourth stay at Nordic Lodge. While it used to be charming and enjoyable, management changed within the past year. Our room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived (beds in heaps, hair in the bathtub, no towels or toilet paper) despite an evening arrival, nor was it cleaned at any point during our stay despite speaking with multiple managers. We retrieved our own laundered bedding and towels from the desk and even then had to exchange a pillowcase as it had makeup on it, and the bed cover was not clean. Hot tub was cold and filled with green water. Upon notifying the staff of this, they said “oh yeah it doesn’t work, that door should have been closed.” They’d lost a couple other reservations, overheard while we were constantly waiting on any staff to show up at the welcome desk, which was rarely staffed. The whole place was grossly understaffed for what is likely one of the busiest weeks of the year. No breakfast anymore. No hot tub. No heated pool. We left after two nights and did eventually receive compensation for the nights we did not stay.

We stayed here on our way out to California from Fort Collins and were very pleased, so we booked a room again on our way back. We were surprised to find out that they upgraded us on our second stay, which was such a lovely gesture and just what we needed after a very long drive. The rooms are slightly more traditional and very clean and the beds/bedding are comfortable and great quality. We had no trouble parking and didn’t hear any noise from our neighbors. The location is amazing and walkable to everything we needed. Staff were friendly and more than willing to give recommendations, or just have a nice chat with. We loved staying here and will definitely be back. Our little dog felt right at home as well!

Reviewed yesterdayvia mobile Excellent location & plenty of free parking. Cheerful staff that is always available and eager to help. The room was fine, though most definitely low grade economy finishes, such as a 60’s vinyl couch, deeply soiled carpets, high intensity, super bright white ‘shop’ grade lights. Puzzled why they didn’t purchase soft white bulbs that cost the same & are exactly the same energy efficiency? The towels & bedding were good, seemed clean & fresh. Hot water went out, but they fixed it immediately which was quite impressive! The ‘grounds’ were all blacktop & cement, not a twig of anything green, felt like an army barracks. All things considered, it was fine, especially the exceptional location. However, I’d absolutely NOT ever stay there again because they do not offer courtesy luggage storage!! In 45 years of traveling all over the world , from super premium to sometimes in very low end economy 1stars I’ve always been offered courtesy luggage storage for those few hours after check out till an afternoon flight. I’m still in shock as I write this, I cannot fathom any lodging NOT offering a few hours of luggage storage. All I got for a response, was a cheerful, ‘ that’s just how it is ‘ with a lovely smile. Then a suggestion to bring all of my luggage to the mountain and store it there!! Or rent the room for another $300!!!!! With my head spinning and feeling that they just ruined my experience, I thought … ‘ I’m guessing another hotel that is truly managed by people who literally do feel that actual hospitality takes many forms, might, just might, offer me this courtesy … even if I was not staying there?’ So I went to the motel next door ‘the Western’ and asked! Half expecting a sweetly delivered ‘no’ i was THRILLED, when the Western manager, Tammy, ENTHUSIASTICALLY said, “ of course, yes! It’ll be my pleasure”. I was absolutely shocked with joy!!! Her eagerness to help me with what was an unprecedented profound disappointment with the Nordic’s complete disregard for true hospitality was transformative!! I was so excited by Tammy’s / the Western response, that I cannot wait to...

Not as advertised! I’m not sure if this location is under different management since the listings were created, or if they have drastically dropped their standards. Check in was awkward, with the gentleman at the desk commenting upon his non-English speaking staff in a derogatory manner. You also have to write out most of your information, which should have already been provided by the Expedia booking, surely. You even have to write out your credit card information! How archaic! Not to mention unsecure! I’ll be watching my banking information.

We were told on checkout that there was no pool/hot tub due to an electrical outage. We chose this location for the hot tub and pool. While a temporary outage is unfortunate, this did not sound like a temporary situation.

The rooms were nothing special. Having a parking space directly outside our room was nice. The beds were clean and comfortable. The fridge size was also convenient. There was a microwave and coffee maker provided. The tiny TV was the very definition of “technically correct” though it was placed high in the corner of the room. Despite our booking having four people, and this being confirmed at check-in, we were only provided with three, very small towels.

I also did not think the bathroom was as clean as it should have been. Dust and dead bugs swept into a corner and shower curtains with stains. They definitely do not look well-maintained and appear nothing like the pictures, a sign of lowering standards.

Imagine our surprise when we were all woken up at 7 by jackhammering outside. Obviously the hotel can’t control road construction, but surely some warning or a room not directly adjacent to construction would have been preferable. There is also no breakfast, which was not disclosed at check-in and advertised online. We recommend Freshies with their legendary cinnamon roll.

I would not recommend if you’re looking for extra amenities. If you’re only looking for a place to rest your head, then it’s fine. Just be prepared to look out...
