Very kind front desk attendant, and relatively empty so it was very quiet. Had lots of history including ski history, a (temporary I think) native American art exhibit, and the Victorian section which was my favorite. Masks not required if you are vaccinated.

This was my 2nd visit and I brought friends and family. I like it, it is $6 for non residents. I think it is worth it. They do make you wear masks.

Are you a Western movies or TV show (Think Little House or Dr. Quinn) fan? Do your kids enjoy historical fiction-- like the American Girls Collection-- Josefina, Kaya, or Kirsten books? You owe it to yourself to go see this collection and restored home as a Western museum.

This restored Victorian house with other house attached had lots of rooms with artifacts, furniture, photos, letters, and accounts of people who were instrumental in founding and making Steamboat Springs, in addition to the story that fits with so many Native Utes, Pioneers, Homesteaders, Early Settlers, to Ranchers, Cowboys, Outlaws and Lawpeople, and WWII era skiier veterans. It wasn't overwhelming-- but seemed very factual and enlightening.

There were labels placing everything in its proper time period and acknowledging who donated the items to the museum. The curator/docent was friendly and helpful, offering basic directions around the museum and giving a brochure. She answered any questions we had about any of the people or things.

There's also a children's section with dress-up items, games, and items to touch.I enjoyed seeing the personal items and history with particular brave women and families who changed their lives to help make this city.

Lots of skis and ski information-- can be fascinating stuff. There was also a room with photos of places that have been demolished or destroyed with age-- a nice touch to be able to get a sense of how we are all part of changing time. The gift shop had nice holiday things (it is close to Christmas!) plus books-- some that aren't typically in print, post cards, toys, and jewelry. Just a delightful hour and a half...

This museum is sensational and the young woman acting as museum guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly and very eager to share her knowledge which added greatly to the experience of myself and family as visitors to the museum. There is no better way for a visitor to Steamboat Springs to spend a morning or afternoon (or both) than to pay this museum a visit. The children's room exhibits were particularly good, with hands-on opportunity to play with exhibits and really experience the life of a child in the olden days. My 5 year old daughter absolutely loved it. Adults will be entertained, enthralled and fascinated by all the museum has to offer. Whatever brings you to Steamboat Springs, make sure you make time to visit this museum. I also add that the restrooms were possibly the cleanest in...
