I did a lot of research in the area to find a good and affordable place. It's no wonder Rabbits ear has been a historical motel in business since 1953, they know what they are doing. Super duper clean rooms! Everything! The floor, the bathroom the sheets everything smelled so good! They are remodeling the rooms for more updated furniture! Yet I got an amazing room with a balcony and a view to the mountains! Location wise it's amazing too! They are right across Old Town hot springs and they can offer you a discount if you are staying there! Also the breakfast had good options like bagels, apples, raisin toast, boiled eggs, og, coffee and my favorite new thing Apple Cider. Don't forget to take a stroll around you might find a beautiful trail like I did to see the yampa

Great clean rooms with very comfortable beds. I stopped off here during my bicycle trip down the Continental Divide trail and ended up staying for a rest day. Breakfast was decent and the staff friendly. They also offer their own warm pools down by the river, as well as having a proper set of hot springs right across the street. The Hotel is also very central to downtown, which allows for one to walk from their room and explore Steamboat without needing to get in a car for a short leg just to find the shops and resturaunts. I would definitely recommend this place as a budget option for anyone coming through the area. Oh, and I loved the classic neon sign at the parking lot. It's literally what drew me in.

Great place to stay! Like they say in real estate, the most important thing is “Location Location Location. ” Rabbit Ears is walking distance to everything in downtown. Across the street from the downtown hot springs and next to Hippie spring. Best of all the river/creek runs directly behind it. Only need to step out your door and fish, float or open a window and be lulled to sleep by the soothing sound of a creek. Highly recommend a room along the perimeter and balcony. Fantastic customer service and you get a discount on the city hot springs if you buy tickets there. Will definitely stay here again.

I have got say that this motel exceeded my expectations and had a lasting impression because of a particular employee named: Katrina 🥰 she was out and about between the hours of 4am-6am shoveling like a beast (w/OCD-clean, thorough, efficient and repeatedly😆) going over and over each and every walkway solo!!! Annnnnnd when I approached her, being a nosey guest I wanted to know why she wasn't laying salt after shoveling for the 3td-5th round (that I'm aware of). She was very readily approachable and very warm and kind with an authentic personality to happily share with me.... At the wee hours in the morning working enthusiastically to shovel snow efficiently.... To my surprise on her own! I was certain there was more than one person busy shoveling snow to clear the walkways... And come to find out miss Katrina was out before the sun rose for the day shoveling every entry way and accessible sidewalk on her own, not just once.... Over and over again without laying down salt... And not listening to headphones or distracted with her phone, or any other device... Because after I noticed her third pass or so -from observation-I'm certain she did more than what I observed bc I was in and out of my room vaporizing outside only occasionally, and tending to my 3 children as a single mom... But after I heard a person shoveling like a ninja (😆 very quietly) and had noticed that my walkway and every walkway within sight had been somehow well maintained without thee addition of salt and the sound of a crew I decided to find the person who was responsible for shoveling and ask why salt wasn't also getting put down... Mind you we are staying here in the midst of a blizzard with up to 75mph winds and up to 18 inches accumulation within a 24 period.... I couldn't help myself... And miss Katrina was a warm and sincerely caring personality that was just so enjoyable to approach and speak with! I also noticed this incredible woman was older and so full of joy and intriguing energy after discovering she is the one and only person responsible for shoveling the walkways.... So early..... And alone! And a sincerely grateful and wonderful personality to boot! What a friendly and approachable unexpected ray of sunshine to see at such an hour before the sun came to shine itself when-I am not used to encountering other people in general, let alone such a beautiful and wholesome individual that, as it turned out to be my elder!! What a lovely experience! The only other encounter I had was with a neighbor of whom I was unaware was right next door to us when taking a trip to our vehicle with my six year old son he approached us when I was trying to instructing him that we need to be " ninja stealth mode" bc it was so late at night/early in the morning and we were probably the only two people in the world not peacefully sleeping.... And stealing the importance of how loud/quiet or presence/existence is to others 😆 and the gentlemen that ended up shuffling by was right next door and informed me that we have nothing to worry about simply because the majority of rooms occupied are currently fraternity males 😆..... I'm not so sure about that.... Because I experienced a pleasant, very quiet and very enjoyable stay! Shout out to the solider woman shovels like she is loving her best life!! I see you miss you Katrina!!! Thank you for letting by example and doing your job...

We stayed at Rabbit Ears Motel during a major race weekend. On our last morning, we discovered a mouse in our room. When I reported it, both the manager and the overnight desk associate told me that rodents are “normal” in the rooms and even in the breakfast area. Instead of taking the issue seriously, the manager laughed at us and said we “must not be from the country” and “must not have been to Steamboat before,” implying that every hotel in Steamboat must have mice/rodent problems.

I’m from Colorado, and have stayed in Steamboat many times, and I’ve never experienced or been told this is normal. Rodents in guest rooms — and especially in food service areas — are a serious sanitation concern. While we were eventually moved to a different room on the second floor for our final night, the lack of professionalism and basic regard for cleanliness was extremely disappointing to say the least.

UPDATE: After I posted this review, management (Lindsey) reached out personally, sincerely apologized for how the situation was handled, and issued a full refund for our stay. She made it clear this is not considered normal for the property and said steps are being taken to prevent it from happening again. I appreciate their responsiveness and willingness to make things right.

UPDATE 2: I’ve now seen the motel’s public response claiming staff never said rodents are “normal” in rooms or the breakfast area. I want to clarify that both the manager and overnight desk associate told me exactly that, in front of my friend, and whom I was told was the manager, Beth, also mentioned squirrels and chipmunks had been in rooms before. I appreciate Lindsey’s and Greg's later apology and full refund, but I stand by my review as an accurate account of what I personally experienced and was told...

We stayed 7/31-8/1. Cute and classic roadside motel right out of the 1950's Route 66 craze, even had the bunny neon sign. I believe we caught the AM concierge on a bad day, she was pretty curt withbus and not very friendly. But the PM concierge was a strapping jovial man who was very helpful and friendly. Our room was with a view, but the tall grass and thistle made it hard to see. Our room had a cute lil porch which was nice to sit on in the evening. Situated at the beginning of old town its a great location. Right across from the hot springs water park, they provide you towels to use, and you get a great discount on tickets when you purchase them at the front desk. We got cute flash lights and bumper stickers my boys loved. The room was an average size. The bathroom was a bit tight, but very clean! The beds were clean and comfortable, pillows were a lil flat. You can get extras for no charge at the front desk which is nice. Our room had a strange odor, so we vented the room. The curtains needed a cleaning, but overall very clean room. The owner or manger took the time to follow up with me after our visit to apologize for the odor in the room. Which was pleasantly unexpected. Continental breakfast was okay, bagels, toast, english muffins, OJ, yogurt, cereal, coffee and milk. Would have loved something hot for breakfast, a waffle, or something. I'm sure they could mix it up a bit. Great Wifi, great cable channels. Might make our way...
