Please don’t stay here. Going here is like entering the twilight zone. Especially after coming from such a wonderful hotel like Sheraton coming here felt off, unwelcoming and upon entering the rooms it felt unclean... I asked for a room with Balcony on Expedia, and upon check in spoke with Betty and let her know I specifically wanted a balcony as patios bring in bugs. She was accommodating in promptly finding a room through maintenance staff however immediately followed my request with “There’s no smoking on the balconies” I told her that’s fine. In the room we found stains that could be easily wiped off were present on the walls, carpets, and furniture. Pull out sofa was extremely dusty and again felt unclean. The restroom had a nearly empty toilet roll that was used from a previous guest. Yes this is during the (COVID-19 pandemic). There were no complimentary soaps or shampoos provided in the shower. Swarms of Cigarettes in the front of the hotel at the entrance and upon checking in and I understand why. They repeat multiple times to you “No smoking”. Even when you’ve come down from the room to enjoy the market place that’s the first thing they “jokingly” tell you. Just to let you know I DO NOT smoke cigarettes. We came to the hotel after deciding to not be in it as it felt uncomfortable but we were happy we had somewhere to sleep. We decided to shower in the morning, before our long drive, however we could not as the toilet overflowed in the morning after one use all the way into the carpet and kept going. So much water came out with feces that we immediately called and scrambled to get bags onto a trolley and off the floor. The maintenance man came in swiftly but had no gloves when he grabbed the toilet sea bare handed overflown and all. That would have been ok if he WASNT touching the main door handles. I felt really bad he had to touch everything bare handed that way. We headed down quickly. I was still in my pajamas at almost 9am when this happened so naturally I went to the front desk with our things since it was so gross. However in the parking lot I realized I hadn’t showered, changed, or did anything to prepare for the park or the long 5 hour drive home we had after. I called corporate to call the manager since I was just honestly upset at this point from the adrenaline of moving all our things out of the closet away from running water with feces. This hotel suggested after 20 minutes of this incident ; Manager D. Suggested that we reentered that same room to shower. 20 minutes is not enough to disinfect feces off the carpet flooring and handles call me crazy... We were so upset there wasn’t some kind of courtesy or assistance provided so that we could shower and do regular hygienic routines especially after such a gross incident... they told us there was no other option or room to freshen up and that once you’ve been charged and checked out they won’t help you. Stayed here for Busch Gardens again it’s a good idea to stay else where where it’s CLEAN and doesn’t cut corners on disinfecting... as a business owner during the COVID-19 Pandemic this is an unacceptable standard of...
Read moreUpon arrival check in was quick and smooth for the most part. I thought it was odd I was asked for my card again. I had already made a reservation and paid a month prior. However, I was told that it needed to be swiped again for lost and stolen items upon departure. I was told it was going to be $60. The next day it put a hold for much more, but that was clarified. Needless to say, there was no baggage carousel because it had been stolen. I found that out a week later upon because I was told someone was using it while checking in. I went to our room, it was absolutely filthy. I had to go to Walmart and buy cleaning supplies to clean. The toilet had pee, scum and tar under the toilet seat, the shower head had what seemed to be soap scum or lime and it was so dirty, the tub had hair in it, broken soap on the platform, the entire room smelled like cat pee or something. The odor was absolutely just foul and the room was so dusty. The carpet was wow, it seemed to never have been vacuumed. There was a used condom wrapper on the side of the bed. The refrigerator freezer did not work. The lights were broken in the sink. The sink was also full of black stuff under the rim. The mirror was foggy and I could barely see anything. It honestly seemed like that room was never cleaned and just the bed was made. The hallway smelled like poo almost everytime we walked out of our room. The ice machine was not working. I tried to get Starbucks the next morning and was just pointed to a counter and told, "There is coffee made there". I thought that was super rude considering it states Starbucks was from 7 to 10 am, along with select breakfast. We ended up just going to Starbucks down the street either way. On top of buying supplies to clean, I needed a toilet scrubber and apparently no one that is employed know where cleaning supplies are kept. One employee did go out of her way to get me one though, that was super nice and great service. Unfortunately, I never caught her name. Honestly, I should have just asked for a different room instead of going through all of that. Funny story, I told three people how dirty the room was and no one seemed to care. The only person that went out of their was was that one lady. Kudos to her! I wish I knew her name. An awesome housekeeper offered to help me with my stuff back to the car upon departure. Unfortunately, I did not get her name. Both ladies had light skin. One had short blond hair and the other reddish auburn hair....
Read more11/11/23 @5:37PM I would like to provide an update to my original review below. Post my review, I spoke with customer service and they opened up a customer complaint case. They shared my concern with the general manager, who then comped my one night stay which was a very kind and appreciated gesture. The general manager also followed up with me and needed clarification around my statements regarding the apathetic staff member and management not following up. I explained the following: "My comments regarding the gentleman on duty being apathetic was based on his response to my concern. He did not offer me another room, he did not apologize for the cockroach being in the room., nor did he state that he would follow-up with management regarding the matter.
In my professional experience, when staff respond without a plan of action it gives the impression that they are unhappy in the workplace, are not well compensated, and do not have faith in their supervisors that patrons concerns will be adequately addressed. Which led me to believe that the supervisor would most likely not address this matter."
Nevertheless, after speaking with the general manager, he explained that pest control will be making a visit to the grounds to ensure the cleanliness and safety for all patrons and staff.
I want to say kudos to the general manager for going above and beyond to address this matter and acting so swiftly. With that said, I rescind my comments about management not addressing this matter. It is comforting to know that my voice did not go unheard. Therefore, I have changed my star rating as excellent customer service can go a long way.
Sincerely,
I wanted to give more stars, but given I had to kill a cockroach and the gentleman on duty was quite apathetic about the possible infestation, let's me know several things: He knows cockroaches are a problem. The staff is not well compensated. Upper management does not plan on doing one thing to address this concern.
I will say that the renovations that have been done at this establishment is nice; however, they failed to address their noisy AC/Heat units which made getting a good night's sleep impossible, along with knowing that creepy crawlers are running around; so...
