I am not a big review writer. This is my first time I've bothered to write a review of a lodging, and I'm only doing it because Jim and Nancy and their Burch Street Casita and Taos, New Mexico are all worthy of a rave review. My wife and I needed to visit Taos to play some music there. Since it was coincidentally going to be the weekend of our anniversary, we decided to make it into a nice, mini-getaway, too. My first idea was to get us a room at the well-known hotel in right downtown, because we wanted to be close to the Plaza. After reading several reviews of the hotel which were generally positive, but expressed dismay at the noise level, I knew that the hotel idea would not work for us, because my wife is a light sleeper. It would not be a restful getaway if my wife weren't able to sleep!
This is why I decided to try Burch Street Casitas, and I am Very Glad I did. The casitas are cozy (in a good way-- not cramped), cute as a button, equipped with everything you would want (your own washer, dryer, iron and ironing board, kiva-type fireplace, coffee maker and filters, all the dishes, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils, pots and pans, etc., etc. Oh yes-- a TV with a bunch of channels that also plays DVDs, although we didn't use it). The heating system is under the tile floor, so the heat is even and does not fluctuate and is blissfully silent. Oh yes-- about the silence. What is great about the Burch street Casitas is that they are just a short walk away from the plaza area in Taos-- the area where so many of the galleries and shops and restaurants are-- yet when you are relaxing at the casita you would never know that you are so close to where the action is, because it is so peaceful and quiet there. My light-sleeping wife slept like a baby.
As other reviewers have mentioned, Jim and Nancy are wonderful hosts. I agree with the reviewer who said that they do not intrude on your privacy. But if you approach them they are the most delightful folks you would ever want to meet; friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there in the future when we are again fortunate enough to visit Taos. Great little town for a vacation, and Burch Street Casitas was ideal for us for lodging-- comfortable, cozy, equipped with everything we needed (and more), close to things, yet quiet and peaceful. Highly...

Burch Street Casitas is the best place to stay and relax in Taos, New Mexico. Having traveled to Taos for years the only place we stay is at Burch Street Casitas because they have all the amenities, charm and character we love.
Just off the main drag and short 3 block walk from the town square, it is in a perfect location and very close to shopping, dining and art galleries.
Jim and Nancy are the most gracious hosts and always go out of their way to make us feel confortable.
All of the casitas are full of original southwestern artwork, rich in their cosmetic character and have a plethora of novels and short story books and have a beautiful relaxing southwestern ambiance. The radiant heated floors kept us warm and the beautifully decorated bathrooms have a spa like feel. Each casita has a king size bed, a kitchen, washer and dryer, a wood desk, flat screen TV with cable, WiFi, a small fireplace, and cozy balcony. I have stayed in all of the casitas, however I love casita C the most because of the artwork and the native Indian weavings.
I love the Burch Street Casitas and already booked my stay for...
Read moreFrom ABQ with LOVE ... I return time and time again to the quiet haven of BURCH STREET CASITAS. It is like coming home. Driving into the well manicured grounds, you find a parking lot and totally fenced in property. They are totally dog friendly. Just remember to pick up after your dogs!!! I have stayed in almost every casita and each one is as perfect as the other. With the fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, wood burning fireplace and clean, clean, clean surroundings, you can stay for a day or a month! And the location! You are about 10 minutes walking distance from the Plaza. Jim and Nancy are so accommodating and friendly and just really want you to have a good experience in their little bubble. Jim even ran a lighter over to my casita the other night when I was trying to start a fire in my fireplace. Then I could relax on the couch and read by the fire with my Aussie, named Gracie, right by my side. The new smart TVs, the cable, the wifi...you really want for NOTHING. If you love comfort and clean and are gong to spend any time in Taos, be sure to check out the BURCH STREET CASITAS. Thanks...
