I’ll walk you through our night to remember at the Taos mesa brewing tap room.
I’ll start with parking. The parking lot is very poorly designed and quite steep if you have a car. You might bottom out entering and exiting the parking lot. The lot is designed that if there are no available spaces you have to back out into a public street to get out. There is no space to turn around.
Once I got inside I was standing in a queue of around 12 people.(4 groups) the hostess was not at her booth for a significant portion of my line waiting and when she did return she did not speak to anyone in the queue or acknowledge they were waiting. The two groups in front of me left after we stood in line for about 10 minutes. The hostess was finally available after about 12 minutes of waiting. She put me on a waitlist with an hour expected wait time and she sent me a confirmation text to make sure I was on the list and told me that they would text me when our table was available. She never texted or called me. After an hour and ten minutes of waiting minutes checked on our reservation and she told me she had texted and called me multiple times and even left a voicemail. I never received any calls and have attached the only text message I received from them. She was quite busy and flustered though so I’m sure it was a mistake, but it still happened. We were seated about 5 minutes later for a grand total of about 1.5 hours of waiting.
The waitress was quite overwhelmed and it took her about 10 minutes to come to our table. We looked at the menus and waited about ten minutes before she showed up to take our drink orders.
Drink orders were fine but for some reason she could not take our drink orders at the same time as our kitchen order. So this delayed our food a bit.
When they brought our pizza out they dropped a pizza on two people in our party. It landed on one persons shoes and one persons pants. They replaced the pizza in about 10 minutes. And it all tasted amazing. We had to talk to the manager when we received the bill since we didn’t feel mandatory gratuity was appropriate after spilling our dinner onto us. They gave us 50% off the pizza they spilled and removed the gratuity.
I will definitely never come to this place again. If I’m going to pay premium pricing on food and drinks I expect there to be premium service included.
Good luck in the future brewing co. Hope this never happens to...
Read moreMy family and I come to Taos every year to ski. Last year we loved the pizza and beer at Taos Mesa Brewing and decided to come back this year. We came in the night of 2/1/2024.
We ordered two pizzas and they both came out badly burnt. This is understandable, as a wood fired pizza enthusiast myself I know how quickly/easily a pizza can burn in the intense heat. Our waitress agreed and quickly took them back and put a new order in. She was very polite and provided us with great service all night. The pizzas were brought back out and were delicious! The restaurant also provided us with a discount, which we didn't even ask for. This was not necessary but appreciated. We felt embarrassed to even send them back because we don't like to cause inconvenience.
Everything was fine until we walked out and the kitchen staff jeered at us as we walked by. Our party of 5 all left at different times and we all had the same experience. They repeatedly yelled "love you", "thanks for coming in", and "we really appreciate your business" over and over again in a mocking tone. I had to do a double take to make sure they were yelling at me. They even yelled louder to get our attention. When we convened at the car everyone in the party had the same experience.
No accusations of mistreatment here but it definitely made us question the treatment/handling of our food. Also, it made us feel guilty for an experience that we paid over $100 for. A lot of positives for the establishment and I always like to supporting local brewing. I just hope improvements can be made to the level of professionalism and courtesy of the...
Read moreI've never been rejected service from a restaurant where we entered 25 minutes before closing time. We were "greeted" by Emily the hostess, who told us there was no possible way to get a table, even though there were many unseated outdoor tables & open bar stools. Begrudgingly after rolling her eyes, Emily allowed us to order a pizza and appetizer as a to-go order.
A little frustrated, we decided to go to the bar to grab a drink as we waited for our food. Thankfully, Jonathan, the bartender, warmly welcomed us, promptly grabbed us drafts + waters. We asked him if it was possible to eat quickly at the bar and Jonathan said no problem! He even brought us plates and silverware so we could enjoy our meal and said that we don't need to rush given that there were at least 30 people still in the restaurant. Though Adam asked if Emily could bring over the food to where we were sitting, she would not deliver it to us, making us go to the front of restaurant and bringing it back ourselves.
I've worked in a restaurant before and I know things get crazy, especially at the end of the day. But it was very disappointing to have such a cold, unwelcoming entrance into this establishment from Emily, but thank god Jonathan was there to make it all better! Shout out to Jonathan! But wish that Taos Mesa Brewing had a stronger commitment to providing a good customer experience, especially since this was our one and only night in the area. I'd only recommend coming here if Jonathan is working and is the only reason I'd give this...
