Fantastic place. Highly recommend it as a vacation home away from home. Was our second visit. Beautiful property with consistently top-notch staff & service. We will come back again. The staff, especially Megan at the front desk, and the young maintenance man, were terrific, personable, made our stay especially comfortable. Even before our arrival, the staff were remarkably helpful in handling our shipment of a box ahead of our arrival. The one-bedroom units are great, especially for a multiple-day stay, and are probably worth the reasonable upcharge compared to a studio. We cannot give a first-hand opinion on studios. The bedding is really comfortable, blanket was the perfect weight. Climate control kept the unit perfectly comfortable, even with the huge variations in outside temperature during our autumn stay. This property is excellently maintained, and the units are really well appointed with entertainment and cooking gear. The main TV was large, with great picture and sound, and easy connectivity to your own laptop. A large selection of DVD movies were available at the front desk. The living room couch and chairs were comfy, and there was a nice dining table with chairs. Wyndham Taos provides a nice selection of dishes, wine glasses, measuring cups/spoons, cookware, paper towels, utensils, grater, peeler, can opener, impressive selection of cooking spices, salt/pepper, coffee maker (with tasty ground coffee), cutting board, decent-size compact refrigerator with freezer, nice granite countertops, in-sink disposal and dishwasher. The unit kitchenettes have only a microwave and toaster, no stove, no oven. (Note to Wyndham--the microwave in our unit 235 worked fine but it was undersized--too small even for an expanded bag of standard popcorn. There is space to fit a bigger microwave oven. We suggest you get a bigger microwave oven, since that is the primary means of cooking in the unit.) In normal (pre-Covid) times Wyndham Taos give guests access to a very large communal kitchen that has stove and oven, including pots and pans. Until the communal kitchen reopens, they will provide an electric skillet and crock pot to use in your unit. There are also nice gas grills outside, that did an excellent job on our steaks. That all worked out perfectly for our needs. Our one-bedroom unit included a second full bathroom (in addition to the master one), balcony with table/chairs, mountain view & fireplace. It was immaculately clean, nicely furnished with quality details and was very roomy, felt like a home away from home. Nice towels. Great, strong wifi. The property is perfectly located, an easy walk to the center of Taos, and the plaza! It is set back from the main road on a driveway that runs past the not-to-be missed historic Fechin House art museum, and it is also adjacent to a large town park. The property is beautifully architected in the local "adobe-style," quiet, solidly built and surrounded by mature trees. The interior doors are nicely framed with traditional timbers and are made of solid carved woods. Rooms are very quiet. The mountain views from many of the rooms are awe-inspiring. The common areas are quiet and well kept. The lobby is huge and just gorgeous, with a high ceiling, and oversize stone fireplace, log beams, carved wooden details, and comfy seating for lounging by the fire. This is a condo unit rental, so does not include the usual daily housekeeping services you would find at a typical hotel. But the friendly staff makes it really easy to get fresh linens/towels or replenish any supplies for your unit, and drop off of trash and recycling is very easy. (Although I would suggest to Wyndham that they reinstate conveniently-located large trash cans on the second floor). Like many hotels in the current labor climate, this property was short-staffed at times. But management handled it perfectly! First, they notified us in advance when there would not be full staffing after hours. Second, they encouraged guests to text if with any needs. They responded to our texts immediately, were...
Read moreReserve here at your own risk! Wyndham cancels reservations without notice! 14 days before my intended stay, and again 7 days before, I received emails from Club Wyndham Taos reminding me of my upcoming stay. “Your suite awaits!” the reminders burbled. And I was looking forward to it! However, when I arrived at Club Wyndham Taos on July 22 2023, hot, tired and dusty from traveling, I was unceremoniously told that my reservation had been canceled due to overbooking. I was completely flabbergasted. I have never heard of a confirmed hotel reservation being canceled due to overbooking. I was given NO explanation by the desk staff, but they told me that when reservations get canceled, Club Wyndham rebooks people into equivalent hotels. Then they handed a sticky note with a phone number that I could call to find out where I was to go. When I called the number, I was put on hold and passed around to various hemming and hawing people until I was finally told “sorry, we couldn’t rebook you because your reservation was cancelled so late that there is no equivalent room available in all of Taos.” (I found out later that they had emailed me that my reservation was canceled just 1 hour and 20 minutes before my check-in time). I was then told that Wyndham would refund my canceled reservation and send me a voucher to stay in any of their hotels by email, as an apology for my inconvenience. And there I was, stranded in Taos on a busy summer weekend, my suite that I had reserved in plenty of time given to someone else, and I had no place to stay. Have you ever tried to find a hotel last minute in a busy resort town during tourist season? I ended up in a dirty hotel outside of town with bad Wi-Fi, a broken swimming pool and a fire alarm problem. My shoddy queen bed room cost just over $100 more than my suite at Wyndham would have been, so though Wyndham refunded my stay, I was still out $100, and the room was—-not equivalent. Additionally, I never did get that voucher that was promised, but I wasn’t able to check my email and confirm that until I returned home from my vacation several days later. When I got home I checked my email for the voucher and found instead a perky note from Wyndham THANKING ME FOR MY STAY and hoping my vacation was lovely! As if I had actually gotten to stay there! It was NOT lovely. Wyndham completely ruined my vacation and cost me extra money and caused stress and inconvenience. And they didn’t do what they said they would do to...
Read moreWe recently had the displeasure of staying at this hotel. The day before our check in we called to verify our reservation and were treated as if we were inconveniencing them by asking but our room was confirmed. Fast forward to noon the day we are supposed to check in, we are enjoying our only free day in Santa Fe when we receive a call notifying us that our King Bedroom has been downgraded to a studio with a queen size Murphy bed. After being misled multiple times as to why this occured we were forced to cut our day short and rush to the hotel to deal with this.
When we arrived we spoke with a thoroughly unpleasant human being who identified themselves as the general manager and informed us that they were sorry (the lack of any empathy in their tone identified that as a lie) but there is nothing they would do, they had decided to bump us, take it or leave it. Unfortunately we were forced to take their horrible accommodations as with such short notice any decent hotel was understandably booked. And horrible was an apt description. They claimed that a queen Murphy bed was comparable to a standard king bed but our sleepless nights due to back pain made for a truly miserable stay.
I wish I could say we were the only ones to have issues but when one of our family members checked into a similar room they discovered that the room had not been cleaned and sheets hadn't even been put on the bed. When she asked for the bed to be made she was told they would bring sheets up and she could make it herself because that wasn't the front desk person's job and housekeeping was gone.
I highly recommend you find other accommodations as the discomfort, uncleanliness, inconvenience and stress are not worth what you pay as a non timeshare owner (which we will not ever consider becoming after this...
