Came here twice with a voucher from a sister hotel. Both times, nobody was at either host stand, so we seated ourselves. Service was very slow and inattentive. I don't know if it's because we were using a voucher or worse that we were from another property. The 2nd time, there were 2 servers but one kept disappearing to eat toast at the bar. Long stretches of time with no servers at all. Not sure if they're serving a separate dining area or if they're helping prepare the food, but it was disappointing. Either way, that's in the hotel for cutting corners and trying to save some money. The 2nd time, I was out of coffee but nobody came by to refill.. when I looked in the servers' direction, they had tunnel vision and didn't acknowledge that maybe I needed something. The food was just okay. For a place that's supposedly farm to table, it doesn't live up to the title at all. For example, the OJ wasn't fresh. The ambiance was nice with tropical trees and plants. But the mood was killed as I sat there waiting for long stretches of time waiting to order, waiting for more coffee, etc.

De la Tierra has to be the best restaurant in Taos, maybe New Mexico, hidden away in El Monte Sagrada, it offers excellent high end dining, with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Chris was our waiter, and while quiet and reserved, he offered excellent suggestions and advice pertaining to our meal. While at other restaurants, the staff would make small talk for the sake of it, when Chris spoke, he enlightened us to everything De la Tierra had to offer. We ordered the cornbread, which by far was the best cornbread I've ever had and I know how to make corn bread. The scallops and the tenderloin were excellent and they had an extensive cocktail and wine list. I highly recommend this place, make sure to make reservations. Side Note: Noah, who I believe was a manager was very courteous and professional, inquiring whether or not we were enjoying our meal, which of course we were.

2.5/5 - food was good, decor was nice if dated, service was very underwhelming. We had to ask for things numerous times. Seemed understaffed though the staff we did have was not attentive or personable. We went for breakfast, our group ordered the huevos rancheros, omelet, french toast, coffee and mimosas. All were tasty though the over easy eggs with the huevos rancheros had solid yolks which was unfortunate. We had high hopes for this place but I don't think we'll bother to return.

This was definitely the worst dinning experience my fiancé and I ever had. Service was very slow from the start, staff did not acknowledge us waiting at the hostess desk. We were seated. We ordered, the meal arrived and was the food was decent nothing extraordinary. However, the presentation of our food was the downfall for us. The server broke my drink as he was placing my food which shattered my drink everywhere, I was drenched. Instead of really helping the waitress asked if I wanted another drink. To which we considered this an unfortunate situation as accidents happen. But once the bill arrived, the drink was not removed from the tab nor was my meal credited to any degree. We weren’t expecting any freebies and respect mistakes happen. This was more than a mistake I sat wet the entire meal, picking glass out of my clothing. This wasn’t top class service to any degree. My fiancé was furious they didn’t even bother to apologize and consider removing the drink from our tab. He eventually was frustrated with service to the point he addressed the ticket with the manager. Which the manager credited my drink from the bill. What bothered us the most is the waitress, Desiree commented, “oh are we approving that?”. This was by far the worst experience we’ve had at this restaurant. It lacks in customer service, professionalism and the fine dining experience. It’s very sad to see this restaurant be considered luxurious fine dining when in reality it’s just pretty. This lack or customer service and professionalism has become the normal standard for Taos and it’s outrageous. It’s embarrassing to be a local and see the lack of care, it shouldn’t be this way. Not only because we’re a tourist attraction location rich in culture and should be represented with class. But most importantly because it’s the right thing to do. Worst dinning...

My husband and I have eaten here several times during our stay at El Monte Sagrado, not because of the convenience, but because of how good both the breakfast AND dinner are.

What we ordered for breakfast: Greek yogurt parfait American breakfast (ordered on two separate occasions) Coffee & Late

The parfait is a great light option that has the perfect mix of granola lightly sweetened with a hint of cinnamon, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries with a very lightly layered raspberry sauce. The American Breakfast is the perfect hearty option for those who want a basic breakfast but a little bit of everything (breakfast meat, eggs, toast, and the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had… and I’m PICKY about breakfast potatoes.) The coffee/late are simple and a nice medium roast.

What we ordered for dinner: Red chile roasted beef tenderloin Herbed chicken marsala Mediterranean hummus plate Crispy chicken club wrap Hot wings

Oh good lord, we cannot rave enough about the chicken marsala and beef tenderloin. So. Much. Flavor. Both dishes were ✨perfectly✨ cooked and seasoned. My husband hates mushrooms, and yet, even he loved my chicken marsala.

The cripsy chicken club wrap is huge and includes a generous portion of well seasoned fries- this large enough to share with someone. The wings were a good size and packed with flavor.

What we ordered for dessert: Cheesecake bites Smore (basically a smores molten chocolate cake with marshmallow)

The only thing we would not order again were the cheesecake bites. Not that great, not the best flavor, just eh. HOWEVER, the smore dessert is a must try. Its a huge portion, so make sure you have someone to...

We chose this location for a nice dinner while stay-cationing away from our rental. We got there right when it opened at 5pm. For starters, had not realized how beautiful the resort was - the pictures online don't do it justice. We will be looking into that as an option for another visit.

Food was amazing. For appetizers we tried the summer tomato salad (in season and delish), hummus (always good), and the tuna aguachile - this was phenomenal presentation. I would say that I did get a whole taste of a fruit loop with everything together. For dinner we got the bourbon brined pork chops, roasted lamb, and beef tenderloin - for the latter, this was the best I've ever had. Deserts were so good as well. We had a really great time here and we do prefer to eat early on when a restaurant opens so unable to comment on how things progress for the kitchen or bar.

I will say this isn't our first time in Taos, so the multitude of construction on main street left us with a bit of a delay in arriving on time. The restaurant was gracious to still seat us, we were less than 5min late - but the point is to leave a bit earlier to account for any construction down town (we were leaving from El Prado).

Also note - valet parking is complimentary (not including tip) - but if you choose to self-park.... the lot is a double spot. So you'll be blocked in by someone that shows up later if you're the first one in the spot. Just an FYI :)

Highly recommend adding this restaurant to your list of nice dinners when...
