I stayed here 10 months ago in rm. #228 with two other family members and I came back again just recently I was visiting Medford NY to see my aunt so I chose to use this hotel a second time. I had my 77 year old father with me. We checked in I believe it was Sun. 8/18 and we checked out on 8/22 (hoping I got those dates correct) Upon arrival Roger checked us in, very pleasant person, he gave us rm. #105. My dad and I were exhausted from traveling 12 hrs to get here and just really needed rest. Immediately my father went to take a shower and the shower head fell to the floor of the tub as he was showering. (Also the bar you hang a towel on was broke off the wall too) My dad picked up the shower head and put it back in the thing on the wall but it wasn't fixed he said it'll get by but isn't secure. I didn't want to be charged for it since we didn't break it so I immediately called front desk and just made them aware of it. Minutes later I discovered a whole in the bathroom sink, in the ceramic part along with many spider cracks in it again I didn't want to be charged for it so I made Roger aware of this as well. He said to me he made note of the issues and he left a note for the morning people for us to move to another room, to which I said okay and thank you. The next day after breakfast we got a second room, in fact it was rm. #228 which was the exact room I also stayed in exactly 10 months ago. The rooms by the way are beautiful, spacious, have good working tvs, microwave etc. My only complaint about room #228 is the same from my last stay, the vent in the bathroom doesn't work properly, shower steams up the mirror and it takes an hour to clear up the mirror. Otherwise it's great as far as water pressure, hot water etc. Extremely clean rooms, the housekeeping folks are amazing at their jobs, and very friendly. I'm from SC and so I'm still amazed at all the legal marijuana smoking going on lol and outside of my window of rm. 228 apparently alot of people roll their blunts, and do business here in the parking lot. Doesn't impact the people staying at the hotel, I mean I wasn't bothered by it I still ate and slept well. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's decent, and they definitely will do their best to accommodate you if there is something wrong with your room etc they do their best to make it right. I probably will use this hotel again as my aunt lives in Medford and this hotel is 15 minutes from her place. Not to mention it has plenty of stores, gas stations etc all around it, location is absolutely perfect. I'm including a video of a guy who was smoking weed and drinking outside in the parking lot, this goes on every night. Again I guess it's legal .. it's still amazing to see. They sit for a few hrs in their cars and just smoke, and sell weed to other people here. This particular fellow in the video got out after smoking and drinking and he danced around his car, seemed quite happy. đ I guess weed & alcohol make you that way. He had two other males approach his car and they got some stuff off him. The next night it was a woman sitting in her car also doing drugs. It's all well & fine I guess, I took this video though because again this is new to me, drugs are NOT legal in SC so it is a shock to see it happening out in public places.
P.s. when I posted my video here earlier today it was 1 minute 46 seconds, showed this man in the car also picking up a bottle of alcohol and drinking straight from the bottle as he smoked what he rolled. Just now I looked at the video and now somehow it's only 30 seconds long. Not sure how my video got shortened but whoever did it took out the drinking part. People staying here need to see & know what goes on in the parking lot after the sun goes down. (Legal or not) Ah! Never mind I just read that longer videos are shortened. đ Ok so yeah the drinking part was taken out lol it's ok. I'll still go back and use this hotel, I like it despite what goes on in the parking lot....
Read moreFirst let me say that the hotel was clean, quiet, and the staff was attentive and super friendly. That said, after this 4 night stay, I will never stay at this property again, and I am rethinking my trust in Choice Hotels as a whole. As a Platinum member, it was horrible for the simple fact that the antiquated keycard system meant that EVERY TIME we went in and out of our room we had to fight with the card reader and/or get our keys reprogrammed. This was confirmed by lots of other guests and housekeeping to be a widespread and frustrating problem. The front desk tried to prepare us for the fact that the keycard system did not work well, but this was absurd. The only thing worse that guests having to fight to get into their room EVERY TIME, was the awkwardness of having to go back down to the front desk for help EVERY TIME, only to watch the manager have to fight with the door as well. Pounding the key like a jackhammer hoping the door would open. I cannot stress how unprofessional and ridiculous this is. THEY KNOW IT IS A PROBLEM, yet they put the guests in the position of having to fight EVERY TIME, with a known problem they won't fix. We were told there were renovations coming next year and that they would replace the system then. That was a lot of help each time I struggled to get to my room. (We got to the point of just propping our door open when we went to get breakfast or ice or something out of the car.) This has to be addressed, this is not what I have come to expect from this brand. (Also, this needs to go right on the owner, NOT the management and staff. They were friendly and tried to be helpful but this is the OWNER not the staff. The staff knows this has been reported time and time again. The staff should be commended for having to put up with this problem the owners are too inconsiderate and cheap to fix.) To all of the front desk staff, I say "You guys are too good for this place, go find a job at a property that will respect you, the guests, and...
Read moreCharlie - who doesnât have a name tag on and was hesitant to tell me his name after his abrasive hostile angry tirade when I checked in. I had a basic question about breakfast which really angered him and he kept angrily repeating condescending and nasty innuendo remarks while the line backed up. I nicely asked that he please stop talking to which he said everyone said I was rude. I asked him who said that and he said âeveryoneâ I then asked a woman who had been waiting behind me and she said she never said that. He was so angry and told me that I should stay somewhere else after I had already checked in. I walked next door and they were booked. I came back and walked up and down the stairs to my room with my bags a couple times. During which time he made more negative remarks. He then said âwell if you donât like the hotel just leaveâ I said âI never said I didnât like the hotelâ but explained it was his hostile behavior. After I wrote a review about my experience, he did not say another word but I had to encounter him again when I checked out. He doesnât wear a badge or any identification so I asked him his job and he questioned what and what I meant. I said I didnât know if he was the manager, to which he replied,âyesâ I was very alarmed at his lack of any interest in the customers or their stay. Terrible representative for this Hotel chain. I have traveled and worked Professionally all o er the country including the Virgin Islands and Pierrot Rico staying at many different hotels. He was easily the worst person I have encountered...
