Attn: Tushar Shah your manager Mr. Ricky Malivert is prejudice. This morning when I tried to extend my stay I was told that I couldn't extend because I "smoke too much" I've been staying at this hotel for 8 months & all of a sudden now I smoke too much? I have a job I work 5 days a week, I don't bother anyone I mostly stay to myself. I have obeyed its policies, I have been respectful, polite, & patient. I have not stolen or broken anything. I always pay on time every time. Any problems I've had with the hotel I did not make into a big issue by posting negative reviews like some other tenants have done & may continue to do going forward but after speaking to the genaral manager by the name of Mr. Ricky Malivert this morning who has been 1 of the few who has decided to give me issues while staying at this hotel I had to take some kind of action. Mr. Ricky Malivert actually admitted to singling me out by saying to me "I have to start somewhere" when he decided to put the blame on only me because the hotel hallways smell like marijuana because he saw me OUTSIDE smoking the other day(which is legal to do in the state of NEW YORK). Meanwhile I am NOT the only person who smokes outside this hotel. Not only am I NOT the only person who smokes marijuana OUTSIDE there are also individuals who smoke outside the hotel who don't even stay there. Yet Mr. Ricky Malivert wants to abuse his power by singling me out & harassing me with threats of not letting me extend even though i have NOT done anything wrong. I did NOT break any rules or laws by smoking outside of the hotel. Mr. Ricky Malivert did also mention that he warned me. His "warning" came a couple months back when I was coming from OUTSIDE thru the front entrance of the hotel to get a new key bc mine stopped working he said to me "I hope your not smoking in the room because you will be charged." Mind you by this time I've been staying at this hotel for months & never have I smoked in any of the rooms I've occupied. I've never got an extra charge for smoking in the room nor has any of the house keepers complaint about my room smelling like marijuana when I would get my room serviced. So how am i getting a warning about something I've never done or plan on doing in the first place? I was NOT spoken to or warned about smoking OUTSIDE even though again I'm not breaking any rules, laws or regulations nor am I the only person who smokes outside of the hotel thats stays there or not. I am being used as a scapegoat & this has felt absolutely unwelcoming, offensive, unprofessional & Mr. Ricky Malivert conduct towards me or any individual should not be tolerated especially if the rules or regulations were obeyed. In conclusion I know for a fact bc the person told me themself that they were warned many times about how they smell like marijuana by Ms. Chierra Dikitanan & yet this person still occupies a room & has for years now. There's also people whom I've seen from outside blowing smoke from their window meaning they are INSIDE the room INSIDE the hotel smoking & they themselves told me they have smoked in their room. Even with them receiving numerous complaints about them fighting/arguing they still are allowed to extend & stay at this hotel & the only difference between them & I is that they are white & I am not.(just giving a couple of examples I can give more) After Mr. Ricky Malivert said I couldn't extend at all not even til this Saturday bc I have to work on Friday which is why I asked for the 1 day extension, based on the information I know & some were stated above & the actions that Mr. Ricky Malivert has taken thus far against only me I decided to ask him if he was a racist he smirked & giggled & his response was as he's pacing back & forth at the front desk was that he "can mistaken me for a white person" which to me was extremely inconsiderate, extremely rude extremely unprofessional & extremely offensive. I've been on this earth for over 30 years & I've NEVER EVER been mistaken or asked if I was a white or a Caucasian...
Read moreI was reading reviews of this place and I was beginning to have second thoughts about this hotel after booking it. But I decided to say "screw it" and give it a shot. The front desk was very helpful at check-in. They gave us all of the information about the hotel and where everything was.
Apparently, the people who left a review have complained about the smell and the mold in the rooms. The room smelled like how a typical hotel room is supposed to smell. There was no funky smell at all. There was no mold at all.
Now here's why I only gave them four stars instead of five. My girl and I were there for 2 nights and 3 days. Every morning, she and I found a bug in the bathroom. The first morning, it was a house centipede. The second morning is a spider. Even though this hotel was clean, we were bound to catch bugs in the room since we were on the first floor and there may be some cracks in the foundation of the building, making it easier for the bugs to enter the hotel rooms on the first floor. Was I expecting a house centipede and a spider? Not really, but I didn't make a big fuss about it. I'm just happy it was those bugs and not ants, where they travel in colonies, making it really annoying to stay in the room. It was just one bug, and once you squashed it, that was it. We live in a world where even though you can thoroughly clean a place, there are going to be bugs in it, but the species of bugs was a bit weird-looking.
I would stay there there again, to be honest. No species of bugs is going to stop my hotel experience and demand a refund. I'll try to go for something on the second floor, so the bugs don't get into the hotel rooms as easily. If they can perhaps get an exterminator to get rid of the bug problem, that could help too.
Overall, the room was great! It felt like I was in a studio apartment, and with how much it was, it was really nice! The staff was personable and amazing to work with. The towels and bedsheets were very clean.
I would like to thank Simply Select Suites for having us stay there and I will be in touch if I want to get another room...
Read moreI stayed here before in a different room and had a great stay but this time, not so much.||||I may not come back again when visiting family in the area.||||The one main positive--that saved the stay is that the room was Very Clean--Very.||||What I did not like:||||1. The shower head was not installed properly. The water shot out from the shower head attachment neck and hit the ceiling, another stream went over the curtain top and soaked the floor and my bag and towels on the rack. I had to deal with this for 2 showers. I tried to hand fix it but it was tight--just not installed correctly--they put a new head on it seemed and never tested it and housekeeping does not test it and if previous guests complained--they didn't follow-up. I have actually never seen this in many hotel stays over the years. Maintenance here is not on the ball to say the least. ||||2. The screen on the window was not put on right and coming off.||||3. No soap bars--just pumps.||||4. They must have a contract with the government to house homeless because a number of people were just wandering the property alone, some talking to themselves, smoking outside in the parking lot, watching you. Not your typical busy hotel crowd that has an agenda. ||||5. The pillows and bed were not that comfortable and I could not get good sleep the second night.||||6. I have never seen a heater/AC with red and blue lights that flashed at you all night in the dark. I had to use 2 kitchen towels to cover them up otherwise they light up the room flashing. Never encountered lights like this in a heater/AC.||||||I do like this area--next to Costco and Target close and IHOP and highways and my sister's office is close and parking is free and easy. Towels are mostly fine here--some not.||||Bottled water is $2.00 a bottle.||||In sum, it's the type of place that is fine for 1 or 2 nights--not more. ||Next time in the area, I may try a...
