It feels like there is no end to how horrific our stay at this shady franchisee. My grandmother passed and we were planning an immediate trip to Hempstead. My sister called 2 weeks prior to our stay to reserve a room with a late check in. The manager rudely said he was unable to do that and we had to pay for two nights. I called back to customer service and requested the room from them instead and they were much friendlier with our reservation, I reserved 2 nights with a note for late arrival.
After driving for 8 hours to NY I walked up to the desk around 800, where the same manager on the phone promptly said "What." I replied, "Hi were ready to check in." and his responses continued to have a blunt tone to them, as if I was inconveniencing him by having him do his job. I couldn't help but notice a bunch of maids nearby chattering and looking at us instead of, I dunno, their jobs or breaking in the appropriate area? Eventually, my sister saw me getting upset and took over after he said we didn't have a room. She calmly reminded the manager that we said we would be late. he insisted that we should have read the policy that we needed to call. He lied that he called me at 2238 and then started yelling at my sister that she was wrong and he was right. I yelled back at him "Stop yelling at my sister!" And he wanted to say he wasn't. We both agreed that he was and my sister calmly finished the transaction, even tho he threatened to cancel the whole thing. I asked for corporates number and he seemed to straighten up then.
After eventually getting the key, we had less than an hour to shower change and get to the funeral. The shower was scummy and I had to lay down a towel to not fall. We left for about 4 hours to attended the funeral and grabbed a couple of burgers. We came back to change before the reception, around 1400, and when we got out of my car, some large man was walking across the parking lot, yelling. I thought he was yelling at someone else and we went into the room with a working key. My sister knew to deadbolt the door. We were going to change immediately, but were hungry so we chowed down.
4 min later there was bang and someone was trying to force themselves into our room. No knock but with a key. He said we weren't supposed to be there and my sister asked how when our key worked? He continued to harass us from the door and my sister went to get the receipt. He then called and said something to my sister who handed me the phone and went to show the receipt. I demanded that the man call his manager 5 times and informed him that I would he speaking with corporate. He continued to threaten me that we would and eventually did when I hung up and immediately dialed corporates number in tears.
My sister returned and I was bawling to the representative. She took the phone and finished the report. Ramada explained that they give the franchisee 10 days to resolve the situation and then they will step in. We were feeling no safety for ourselves at that point so we gathered our things and went to the lobby. There was a different man there this time and he was very apologetic. But it was much too late at this point. He tried to accommodate us, but we just wanted to get out of there and have our refund. When we explained the incident of someone trying to break into our room, the man walking thru the parking lot chimed in "That was me." At this point I was absolutely done with me keeping quiet, my sister keeping her cool, and we're still being treated like less than human! I went off. I told him how insulted I was and that in my 18 years of customer service and management, I would NEVER treat ANYONE the way my sister and I were! Absolutely pathetic! As we left, a woman in the lobby even said, "I love you two we stay here often and it's horrible. I'm glad you said something." ...So this is the norm?
My advice, DONT BOTHER! We almost paid $400 for barely 36 hours to be insulted, accussed, and harassed. Please take your...

We had booked a non-smoking room, but upon entering, we were immediately hit with the strong smell of stale smoke. To make matters worse, there were cigarette burns on the toilet seat — a clear indication that this room had not been properly maintained or respected as smoke-free. It was both unpleasant and unhygienic.|The room itself was poorly maintained overall. Although the bedding was clean the air had a musty, unclean odor. The bathroom was no better, with tired and outdated decor and fixtures.|To make matters worse, the staff member who checked us in was rude and over-familiar. Instead of offering a professional and polite welcome, they made inappropriate and uncomfortable comments. It set a negative tone for the rest of the stay.|The most alarming issue occurred at 4 a.m., when a staff member opened our room door without knocking. When confronted, he casually said he was “checking the room” and mentioned something about guests checking out — even though we were not scheduled to check out. There is absolutely no excuse for a hotel employee to enter an occupied room in the middle of the night without permission. It was a serious violation of privacy and left us feeling unsafe and unsettled.|To make matters worse, we found pest control sticky paper under the bed covered in bugs — including a cockroach. That this was left exposed in a guest room is shocking and shows a complete disregard for cleanliness and proper pest control practices.|The included breakfast was yet another disappointment. The supposed “hot” options — eggs, sausage, and pancakes — were bland, unappetizing, and poorly presented. We chose to eat out most mornings, adding additional expense to an already very expensive hotel stay.|Overall, the property felt neglected, insecure and ridiculously overpriced.|This hotel in no way reflects what one would expect from a Ramada-branded property. The quality, cleanliness, and service were no better than a rundown 2-star motel. I booked this hotel expecting a certain standard associated with the name and instead received one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.|This hotel desperately needs renovation, better staff training, and a complete overhaul of its cleanliness and security practices. Safety, hygiene, and guest respect should be the bare minimum — not things we were struggling to find. One of the few positives was the care and attentiveness shown by our room cleaner who refreshed our room regularly and was always pleasant when she interacted with us. Having said this, overall the experience tainted what should have been an amazing trip to New York.|I strongly recommend avoiding this property until significant...
Read moreMy husband and I live in the next town over and just wanted to spend a night out for my birthday. When we checked in the room seemed average, but then discovered a light didn't work, a few outlets didn't work and the fridge didn't work. We called the front desk to have someone come up to the room, no one came. We put it aside and continued on our night out. When we returned around midnight there was a very strong smell of marijuana in the parking lot. When we entered our room the smell of weed was SO overwhelming as if someone had smoked in our room while we were gone. Clearly upset, my husband called down to the front desk. The guy seem annoyed that my husband was upset and offered a discount but what good does a discount do when we can't bear to be in our room? Front desk said they would move us to a new room. So my husband and I packed our things and stood outside of our room, now its 2am and no one came to give us our new keys. My husband calls back the front desk and again, the guy seemed irritated that we were waiting. Eventually he came and my husband apologized for yelling and shook his hand. We went into the new room, which was horribly outdated and as I got into my pajamas I noticed fist sized holes in the sheets. At least 10 holes riddled the bedsheets, and it looked like they had just picked up the sheets from the side of the road. I literally put my arm through one of them. My husband, now even more agitated, called the front desk back up and demanded our money back and someone to come change the sheets. We were told we had to wait until the morning for the manager. Who would stay in a room like that!? My husband started to yell, and next thing we know the guy at the front desk says "yea? You put your hands on me" like a threat that if we tried anything he was going to claim my husband grabbed him. That was the last straw. We went down to the front desk where security was called, I spoke with security and suddenly their story changed. He said "oh I didn't say he put his hands on me as if he pushed me, I meant that I felt intimidated" Poor choice of words. Using that statement with intent means you threatened to say my husband assaulted you. All we wanted was our money back from having to endure staying in 2 unlivable rooms. Eventually the manager came by (who WAS on the premises) and apologized and told us they would give us a discount and change the sheets. Apparently the weed smoking on the hotel premises is a very common occurrence. It took them 45 minutes to change the sheets and he only gave us half our money back! I want a FULL REFUND! We moved rooms twice, both were unacceptable, and we paid $166! For that much I'd gone to a Hilton! And by the time all of this was said and done, it was 4am, so we paid to stay in CRAP for not even the night! I tried to fall asleep but at 9am some Spanish housekeeper was trying to get into our room even though we were yelling that the room was occupied. We gave up, got up and guess what. NO HOT WATER. Screw this place. We...
