This review was very important for me to write simply because I had such a bad experience at this hotel and the public should be aware of what to expect if they decide to book a reservation here. Buyer beware!
First off , upon arriving here we were greeted with a sign on the front desk counter saying “ front desk staff not available and will return in 15-30 minutes”. I have never had this happen at a hotel. Anyway almost 20 min went by and finally a staff member came to the front desk and with the 3 guests ahead of us, it took almost 40 minutes to finally check-in. At this point my confidence with this hotel is pretty low.. not a good start, to say the least.
Walking to the gold plated elevator doors , I couldn’t help to notice the decor from 1980. In fact it truly felt like we were in a haunted mansion with the two bulb gold plated lights on the wall that looks like you can turn it and a secret passage will open up. The carpet , walls , and lighting all resembled a hotel that needs serious upgrades. To top it off , for a non-smoking hotel, it certainly smelled like cigarette smoke and dampness all over. Also, it was around 11pm when we arrived and the main entrance appeared to be open and not locked. This is a major security issue as all doors should be locked and only able to open with a room key to prevent non-guests from entering the building. I personally observed some “shady” looking people walking around as if they owned the place.
My girlfriend and I got to the room and when we walked in , we were disgusted. The rug was ripped and had burns all over(why are there burns if it’s non smoking??). The bedding and pillow cases were yellowish and had darker spots on them and the desk chair was also stained. The furniture was super old and the bathroom was not cleaned well as there was hair in the shower. Additionally the sink was completely clogged. The final straw was the “reddish” stain on the wall appeared to be blood. That was it for us and immediately left to talk with the front desk.
Upon talking with the front desk , we advised our complaints and quite frwnkly, it appeared the employee really didn’t care almost like he was use to it. Moving on , he told us they had no other rooms to move us into, even though I didn’t want to stay there at this point and just wanted a refund. Well this staff member said he was not authorized to issue refunds and told me I needed to email the general manager. After rmailong the manager named Scott , he emailed me baxk and stated he needed to charge me for one night since we were in the room for an hour (we were actually in the room for about 45 min but regardless this shouldn’t matter). He did offer to only charge half rate and credit the rest. I am sorry but that is ridiculous. The experience we had and the fact we needed to find a another hotel last minute which cost me a lot more money than normal, I deserved a 100% refund.
I did respond to the manager and indicated my frustration with his response and advised him I will be disputing any charge with my bank. This was about 2 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back even after a follow up email that was sent about a week after my last email.
Based on my entire experience and the amount they charge per night, there are PLENTY of other hotels in the area that are so much better for about the same price.
This hotel is owned and operated by Wyndham and to be honest, they should be ashamed of this hotel. In my opinion this hotel should be shut down and remodeled. Additionally the staff needs to be trained and/or replaced as the staff is clearly part of the...
Read moreIm like a lot of people on Long Island in between apartments because There’s not enough apartments for just people there are to rent them! So I found a new apartment I needed to stay in a hotel for two weeks in the meantime for the first seven days I spent $987 Laquinta with my small 20 pound dog the first few days were fine But on Sunday, my dog who is under a little bit over one years old is still chewing. He’s a puppy chewed a piece of plastic and I didn’t realize it until he passed it the following day blood was everywhere but make a long a Long barking Yeah, I’m gonna bring them in right now. I didn’t realize at the time what was wrong with him but I guess he was in so much pain due to the plastic I got up and walked him multiple times but I guess no enough for the hotels liking!! The next morning which was a Monday I went back onto to Priceline. I booked three more nights I was exhausted from being up all night the day and just wanted to sleep because finally my dog was sleeping! I got to the desk and told me I was unable to stay and then even though I paid all this money to Priceline that I’d have to wait until they refunded it back to me and at the time it was 11 o’clock and then I had to be out by 12 meanwhile everything I own is in the room with me. I have no car. I proceeded to tell the guy this like you know it. Try to explain to him that the dog you know, I wasn’t feeling well that the other six nights that we were here he had not barked, even though all the rooms around us the dogs were barking because it’s a pet friendly hotel so you know one dog barks they all bark. The guy refused to listen to me and he said I could no longer stand so I went back to my room like I said had one hour. I still had to find a ride at 12 o’clock. He comes to my door forces me to open the door whatever I open no problem I’m packing. I explained to him that My Ride is not there yet. and him and the head of maintenance his name was Craig. I’m not sure if the head of maintenance name was sat there and laughed and thought it was hilarious that one. I have a broken wrist that I just had surgery on less than a month ago. I have my dog pulling me on the other hand And then tons of stuff that I was supposed to move all out by myself with the dog I don’t know what else to say about Customer Service like what kind of person can’t put them like put themselves and this is a position I’ve never been in before. It’s not my fault that I’m in between apartments. They’re just isn’t any apartments to rent and I felt like they were going to treated me after I spent almost $1000 with them the week before and then there laughing that I can’t find a ride quick enough to get out of there so they said they would hold the stuff. Long story short half of my belongings were left there half of all of my clothing my make up bag that is probably worth $250 on its own, my straightener my blow dryer I lost at least $800 worth of merchandise from bills. I called that afternoon to tell them that I was gonna be coming back to pick it up And they told me there was nothing there after the manager had told me that I had 24 hours to come pick it up I don’t suggest anyone rents at this hotel. It smells like urine the toilets don’t clap I mean, don’t flush. It’s very expensive and to be honest it’s very disappointing how disrespectful...
Read moreThe hotel definitely needs an update, like USB ports in the rooms, fixing the peeling walls and spotty painted ceilings and replacing the worn and stained carpeting. The mattresses are tolerable, but very springy. The furniture is okay, good working fridge and microwave. The bathroom is a decent size with good water pressure. Before COVID, the breakfast was pretty good with a DIY waffle maker with all the fixings, even whipped cream, fresh bread and bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and more. Now, it's all pre-packaged bagels and pastries. If the waffle maker is gone because of COVID, then why is the toaster still available and the bulk cereal dispenser that everyone is touching? There are only red apples, maybe a couple of oranges, and bananas on the verge of being inedible. I never see yogurts anymore. The prepackaged muffins and cinnamon rolls are decent and the OJ is pretty good. There is also coffee available all day and the vending machines are decent and not too overpriced. I've never had a dirty room or bathroom like I've read in other reviews and I've stayed several times over the past few years, but sometimes i smell smoke. I was once approached by two staff members knocking on my door, being accused of smoking, even though I don't even smoke. I was pretty pissed that I was accused when I am a non-smoker and was also bothered by the smell of cigarettes. I was stuck here for a two foot plus snowstorm recently and the plowing was extremely poor, with the plow truck being stuck for hours on top of doing a crappy job. When asking to borrow a shovel to get out, I had to leave my license like I was going to steal a freaking shovel. Another thing is that the garbage was piled up next to the gym and every time I've been here, the dumpster is overflowing with bags of garbage, as well as outdoor bins on the property not regularly emptied. I will say that the front desk staff is very friendly and housekeeping is accomadating. Overall, not bad for the price of usually under $100 when using hotel websites/apps. Update 2/2025: I thought the breakfast was worse after COVID, but it is even worse now. The pre-packaged pastries and nuffins are no longer available, the only fruit were bananas which were mushy, the juice machine was out of order and the real kicker is they no longer have Creamer for the coffee, only milk. That could be tolerated, but the coffee is available all day and the milk is taken away after breakfast is over, so then there's nothing to use. The vending machine prices used to be affordable, but the prices increased significantly. Another thing I noticed is dog poop everywhere you walk outside. I understand owners are supposed to clean up after their pets, but I guess that's not happening because there's no dog poop bag dispensers on the entire west and south side of the property. I have been coming here on and off for many years with my dog and have him as an emotional support animal in the computer which usually waives the pet fee, but they wouldn't honor it this time. It was only $50 though, which is pretty reasonable compared to...
