STAY AWAY! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. #1 - our 85 year old father-in-law is disabled and has a very hard time getting around with his walker. They WOULD NOT plow the parking lot despite there being about 4 inches of snow on the ground. I had to ask for a snow shovel to try to clear a path for him. #2 - the pool is advertised as working but has apparently been closed for 'maintenance ' since November. Go check out the Google reviews. We are not the only family b.s. about this. #3 - room was gross when we arrived. Had to ask cleaning to vacuum the floor. #3 - walks are paper thin. I could hear everything going on in the adjoining room. Day 3, got about an inch of rain. The snow became a giant slushy mess. A woman who had broken her hip fell in the lot and re-injured. No plow. This place is a classic negligence case waiting to happen. #4- none of the entrances or exits are locked at night. Totally unsecured so make sure your room doors are bolted. #5 - No amenities. I think we got a tiny bar of soap the last day. The front desk attendant was very courteous and helpful but she could only do so much. Do yourself a favor. Pay a little more and go somewhere else.

I stayed here for my vacation in lake placid and I do not recommend. There was a roach in my room, and the tv wasn’t working. We than were moved to a new room and the shower was so slippery from who cleaned it before I slipped. Also the free breakfast they advertised was orange juice and a quarter sized pancake and the machine was empty. The key cards deactivated so many times aswell. Also they advertised the pool and spa as open and our whole stay it was closed. This was in October and it is December and the reviews still say it’s closed. I was so disgusted I contacted my bank and the hotel said that everything was described and it was not. I have stayed in dozens of hotels and this was the worst unfortunately

Upon entry of the room, the first thing you could smell was the bathroom. The stench of mildew permeated the entire room. It was very clear the bathroom was not cleaned for new occupancy. Once my family and I got ready for bed, we could see the sheets were not clean, even though the beds were mad immaculately. The walls and celling look as if a chain smoker lived here for years. In the morning, as we were getting ready, we heard a knock at the door, and a person opened the door. Thank goodness we had the lock on or someone would be in our room. While I had an uneasy feeling about this motle, it was verified upon my stay. If I was able to give negative stars, I would.

Disappointing Stay Due to Unresponsive Management

I stayed at this hotel expecting a relaxing experience, but it ended up being a frustrating ordeal due to poor management. The only positive aspect was the front desk manager, who was compassionate and went above and beyond, but it was clear her hands were tied because the owner, Jason Clark, refused to respond to her repeated calls for help.

First, both the pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance throughout our stay. The front desk manager tried to get in touch with the owner to see if the issue could be resolved, but Jason Clark, who also owns the Best Western in Saranac Lake, would not answer her calls. This was especially disappointing because the amenities were a key reason we chose this hotel. (Hiking and then using the Hot tub)

On Day 2, things got worse when our shower got stuck on the hottest setting, filling the room with steam and setting off the fire alarm. Again, the front desk manager tried to help but explained that there was no maintenance person on site and that, once again, the owner was unreachable. We had to pack up and switch rooms, which was a huge inconvenience.

By Day 3, the problems kept piling up. When I tried to get water from the vending machine, it dispensed ginger ale instead. I tried again, and this time it gave me a blue Gatorade. When I told the front desk manager, she felt so bad about the situation that she went to her own personal room and brought me three water bottles. Her kindness was the only saving grace in an otherwise awful stay.

It's clear the owner, Jason Clark, has no regard for his guests or the condition of his property. Until he steps up to properly manage this hotel, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s a shame because the staff is doing their best, but without support from ownership, the place is...

Dear [Hotel Manager's Name / Rodeway Inn Team],

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at the Rodeway Inn, where I stayed for two nights in Room #120. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would like to formally request a full refund.

Here are the specific issues we encountered: Room Cleanliness: The room was not clean when we arrived. The chairs were visibly stained and dirty—I have photos to support this.

Towels Shortage: There were only two towels provided for four guests. When we requested more, the front desk informed us they were out of towels. I even have a written note from the staff confirming this.

Bathroom Lock Issue: The bathroom door could not be locked from the inside, which was extremely inconvenient.

No Housekeeping Service: I specifically requested room cleaning and fresh towels for the second day, but the room was neither cleaned nor restocked when we returned in the evening.

Poor Customer Service: Staff were dismissive and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration.

Additional Concerns : The swimming pool has been under construction for over two months, yet this was not disclosed at the time of booking.

The in-room coffee amenities were limited to only decaf powder, with no regular coffee or alternatives available—something multiple guests have also noted in online reviews.

Overall service and upkeep of the property do not reflect the standard advertised or expected.

Due to all these factors, we felt extremely uncomfortable during our stay. This experience was far below what one should expect from a hotel, and I do not believe we received the value promised.

I respectfully request a full refund for the stay and hope that management will take steps to address these ongoing...

I stay at this hotel every time I come to Lake Placid and normally it's great but this time I was really disappointed with my stay. For starters, the sliding glass door going outside doesn't lock, so anyone could get in if you're not careful. We had to wedge a chair in there to prevent the door from opening. I'm just glad I realized because that's how people go missing. Second, the shower is designed in a way in which you physically can't use it without getting water every where, and the tub drains so slowly that after four minutes in the shower you're up to your ankles in water. It's kind of a gross feeling when you just are trying to get clean after hiking and sweating all day. The third strike was finding a piece of candy- an everlasting gobstopper, specifically- in one of ours beds, folded up in the sheets. Neither of us bought or eat candy, and it's just the two of us here. Kind of makes you feel like the bedding didn't get washed when you find random candy in it.

On top of this, there were flies in the room and a coffee maker with sugar and non-dairy creamer but no actual coffee to brew. I tried to buy a water bottle from the vending machine but when I hit the water button it gave me a Schwepp's Ginger Ale.

I could have tolerated all this if the pool and hot tub weren't closed for maintenance our entire stay. Overall just a really disappointing experience and this will probably be my last stay here. It used to be much better but now it feels like everyone at the hotel has just given up. The extra money to stay somewhere else is worth it if it means a clean bed and a door that...
