Disappointing Stay Due to Unresponsive Management
I stayed at this hotel expecting a relaxing experience, but it ended up being a frustrating ordeal due to poor management. The only positive aspect was the front desk manager, who was compassionate and went above and beyond, but it was clear her hands were tied because the owner, Jason Clark, refused to respond to her repeated calls for help.
First, both the pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance throughout our stay. The front desk manager tried to get in touch with the owner to see if the issue could be resolved, but Jason Clark, who also owns the Best Western in Saranac Lake, would not answer her calls. This was especially disappointing because the amenities were a key reason we chose this hotel. (Hiking and then using the Hot tub)
On Day 2, things got worse when our shower got stuck on the hottest setting, filling the room with steam and setting off the fire alarm. Again, the front desk manager tried to help but explained that there was no maintenance person on site and that, once again, the owner was unreachable. We had to pack up and switch rooms, which was a huge inconvenience.
By Day 3, the problems kept piling up. When I tried to get water from the vending machine, it dispensed ginger ale instead. I tried again, and this time it gave me a blue Gatorade. When I told the front desk manager, she felt so bad about the situation that she went to her own personal room and brought me three water bottles. Her kindness was the only saving grace in an otherwise awful stay.
It's clear the owner, Jason Clark, has no regard for his guests or the condition of his property. Until he steps up to properly manage this hotel, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s a shame because the staff is doing their best, but without support from ownership, the place is...
Read moreDear [Hotel Manager's Name / Rodeway Inn Team],
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at the Rodeway Inn, where I stayed for two nights in Room #120. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would like to formally request a full refund.
Here are the specific issues we encountered: Room Cleanliness: The room was not clean when we arrived. The chairs were visibly stained and dirty—I have photos to support this.
Towels Shortage: There were only two towels provided for four guests. When we requested more, the front desk informed us they were out of towels. I even have a written note from the staff confirming this.
Bathroom Lock Issue: The bathroom door could not be locked from the inside, which was extremely inconvenient.
No Housekeeping Service: I specifically requested room cleaning and fresh towels for the second day, but the room was neither cleaned nor restocked when we returned in the evening.
Poor Customer Service: Staff were dismissive and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration.
Additional Concerns : The swimming pool has been under construction for over two months, yet this was not disclosed at the time of booking.
The in-room coffee amenities were limited to only decaf powder, with no regular coffee or alternatives available—something multiple guests have also noted in online reviews.
Overall service and upkeep of the property do not reflect the standard advertised or expected.
Due to all these factors, we felt extremely uncomfortable during our stay. This experience was far below what one should expect from a hotel, and I do not believe we received the value promised.
I respectfully request a full refund for the stay and hope that management will take steps to address these ongoing...
Read moreI stay at this hotel every time I come to Lake Placid and normally it's great but this time I was really disappointed with my stay. For starters, the sliding glass door going outside doesn't lock, so anyone could get in if you're not careful. We had to wedge a chair in there to prevent the door from opening. I'm just glad I realized because that's how people go missing. Second, the shower is designed in a way in which you physically can't use it without getting water every where, and the tub drains so slowly that after four minutes in the shower you're up to your ankles in water. It's kind of a gross feeling when you just are trying to get clean after hiking and sweating all day. The third strike was finding a piece of candy- an everlasting gobstopper, specifically- in one of ours beds, folded up in the sheets. Neither of us bought or eat candy, and it's just the two of us here. Kind of makes you feel like the bedding didn't get washed when you find random candy in it.
On top of this, there were flies in the room and a coffee maker with sugar and non-dairy creamer but no actual coffee to brew. I tried to buy a water bottle from the vending machine but when I hit the water button it gave me a Schwepp's Ginger Ale.
I could have tolerated all this if the pool and hot tub weren't closed for maintenance our entire stay. Overall just a really disappointing experience and this will probably be my last stay here. It used to be much better but now it feels like everyone at the hotel has just given up. The extra money to stay somewhere else is worth it if it means a clean bed and a door that...
