We don’t usually write reviews but I have to say that the concierge scott who worked overnight went above and beyond to save us from being stranded at the traverse city airport all night with a 13yo, 4.5yo and 3yo daughters! We were panicking due to the rental car company’s closing before we got there and that meant we had no car seats and we were still 1.5hrs from my in-laws. None of the cab companies had enough room for all of us and our 2 weeks worth of luggage. Not to mention safety for our two littles which I would never allow them in a regular car with no car seat for that long. So Scott came to the rescue with not only a room but also gave us the number to the neighboring hotel to have the very large hotel airport shuttle come and scoop us up. The driver said if we had called even 2 minutes later he was just about to end his shift. My husband and I were so exhausted after a full day of traveling and the one room that was available for us had a queen bed only 😭 which as you can imagine was not the greatest news given the size of our family. But Scott yet again lightened the blow and gave us BOAT loads of quilts and blankets and pillows and WE CAMPED out in the very clean and comfortable room! I’ll admit my toddlers wouldn’t let mommy or daddy sleep on the floor so it wasn’t the best night of sleep possible but it was only because of their little feet kicking our faces, necks, and all other extremities🤭🫠😅. Which was to be expected. We were starving and it was after midnight there was nothing open in Traverse and Scott (without being asked about food at all) took it upon himself to give us a few goody bags with waters granola bars, pretzels & chips! Which held us through to the morning where we woke up to COMPLIMENTARY FRESH HOT BREAKFAST! Eggs, bacon, tater tots, biscuits and gravy, and self served waffle press with all the possibly toppings you need! This was actually a delicious breakfast not your typical bland meal that’s from a carton eggs or something. They were delicious! The concierge this morning was super friendly as was the cook and we left filled with gratitude and relief. My husband went earlier in the morning to grab the rental car we were owed and we packed up and are almost to the final destination now! Just had to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Scott for saving us from a very unpleasant 3rd of July. So THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! We will always be back to this hotel if we are ever in traverse:). Hopefully it won’t be for the same circumstances...
Read moreI’m not sure where the glowing reviews are coming from because my stay here was mediocre at best. Staff was friendly and helpful. This is an $80-90 motel with a $150 hotel price tag. The walls are NOT sound proof like one reviewer claimed. Leaking pipes, several neighbors, dogs, etcs… While safe and cleanish, I would describe my room as dark, dingy, hot, humid and sad. The carpet had several large stains and looked ancient. The room layout was a bit of a mess with the bed and TV not lined up even though the bed could have easily been moved slightly to the left. The sink was partially clogged. There was no door to the shower? And the shower insert was slopped in a way that suggests it was put there to be as uncomfortable as possible to stand on in an attempt to make folks take shorter showers. The “art” was the most basic stuff I have ever seen. The paint choice on the walls was terrible. Brownish mustard yellow with a blueish / emerald accent wall? Just dreadful. I could go on nitpicking and perhaps my standards are higher than the other reviewers but this attention to detail (or lack there of) really stands out for their asking price. If this was an $80-90 a night motel then I think my expectations would be lower. Did they get the important stuff down? Yes. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the hot water was hot and the water pressure was good. It was a fully functional room. Was it obvious where they were cutting corners? Also yes. I did not use any of the amenities. If you just want a room when passing through then this is that place but I ask myself if thats the case you’d be better off finding someplace else of similar quality for a cheaper price. If you want a nice place to stay while in town, then I think there are better options. So who exactly is this place for then? I’m not sure. I will most likely not be back whenever I am...
Read moreUpdate: If I had to describe this hotel in one word: Spectacular! It’s hard to figure out where to begin when sharing my experience with Best Western. This is our second year that we’ve stayed at this location and it will not be our last! From making reservations, calling to make adjustments, walking through the door and during our stay we received outstanding, over the top and genuine customer service. ALL of the staff is courteous, helpful, accommodating and kind-hearted! Just to name a few, Angela, Christy and the General Manager left a lasting impression. This year we got married and needed several rooms for guests and all of our guests were blown away by the cleanliness of the hotel, accommodations (the breakfast and shuttle) and the flexibility of the staff to be there when we needed them. They made all of us feel at home, offered suggestions and directions to local shops/restaurants and even welcomed our pups with open arms! I just want to say thank you for making our stay fun and amazing. We can’t wait to come back. Our friends/family are still raving about the service they received. Thanks so much everyone, see you again next May!
We visited Traverse City earlier this spring and stayed at the Best Western Plus. I'm so glad we did! The service was fantastic (friendly, flexible and accommodating staff). The shuttle drivers are awesome and are full of history and suggestions for area attractions. They are pet friendly and their rooms are comfortable and clean. Great prices and great location. Whenever we go back, we will definitely be staying...
