My wife and I have stayed here numerous times and can NEVER say enough good things about this place. Not only are the rooms always nice, clean and comfortable, but what makes this place the BEST is the STAFF. We stayed here for 4 nights during Christmas 2018 and it was so relaxing that we recently stayed for 3 nights during Thanksgiving 2019. Barbara at the front desk texted us several times throughout our stay, to check in on us, and to inquire if we needed anything additional. This was very much appreciated, especially since we are older, and have some health issues. We thought that the previous Christmas Buffet was great, but this years Thanksgiving Buffet was spectacular. This was the best Turkey and Prime Rib that we have ever had. So moist and flavorful. The entire buffet had so many high quality foods that it was difficult to try them all, or return to try more of the items that we especially enjoyed. The dessert tables, and their items, were also superb. We had a chance to "Thank" Gary, the Executive Chef, on how pleased we were with the food. He stated that he had gotten a new piece of equipment that made the cooking of the items taste even better than they were during our previous stays. Wow!!! We can not express how much we enjoyed this entire Thanksgiving Buffet. We especially enjoy sitting at the Bar and having the Happy Hour food and drink specials whenever we stay here. The wait staff is always so nice and friendly. We especially enjoy Chris the Bartender. She is always so nice to us. Regardless how busy she may be, she always finds some time to talk with us, and give us exceptional service. The entire staff go out of their way to treat us like valued customers. We very much appreciate this and are already looking forward to the next time we can stay at this Cambria-Traverse City,...
Read moreBeautiful hotel and very clean with friendly staff. Probably the only thing we weren't crazy about was the food from the restaurant there. We were there for the Cherry Festival and previously read several reviews about the great new chef so we tried the food 3 different times and they were either wasted food or just ok. We liked the idea of variety and fancy touches but disappointed that none included cherries or cherry infused ( we read the chefs paragraph about cuisine and using local flavors/ food hence our expectation of at least 1 cherry offering of which none were ever offered during our 3 day stay. I will mention with breakfast one morning we both got a cup of fresh cherries with our meals, but we would have loved to try anything actually made with them. As for the food we ordered- the nachos were a great idea with pineapple and green tomatos but the chips ended up being so overly soaked in oil that they were too greasy to eat, we just ate the toppings. The spinach strawberry salad had too much dressing it was soaked in vinegar it was also a wasted dish. I would suggest they put dressing on the side for room service so we could add as to our preference. Whitefish was good. Black bean Benedict was a nice twist but kind of mislead as the menu looked like it was an egg Benedict dish including egg but did not. We would have liked to see a couple of chicken options on the menu for dinner but there...
Read moreOutstanding hotel and service! One of the best moderate chain hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel is clean, modern and well appointed. Rooms are spacious (2 queens with a semi-separate sitting area with pullout sofa and desk). Pullout sofa was uncomfortable, like most hotels, but adequate. The service was all-around outstanding, everyone was very helpful, friendly and professional. We ate breakfast twice at the restaurant and had drinks/apps on multiple occasions too, and I have to say that the food we really good, far better than I would have expected. I would describe the menu as upscale american. Definitely a creative and talented chef in charge of the menu....for a hotel, very, very good. The lobby area is quite large and blends into the restaurant, so it's a really nice place to hang out and have drinks. It was fairly lively the entire time we were there, but it was during the Cherry Festival, so probably a large crowd at the hotel. But always a place to sit. The hotel even provided a complimentary shuttle service to/from downtown running every 30 minutes, and it's only a 20-30 minute walk if you are up for it. Overall, a great place to stay when visiting Traverse City. No wonder this hotel wins so many awards. Positives: Very well run, modern, clean, great staff, nicely appointed rooms, and a great lobby/restaurant. Negatives: Nothing...
