Visited on a trip to Traverse City, the shop looked cute, had clear signage indicating coffee, and had good parking. (No drive-through, for those looking for one.) My Auntie wanted a caramel latte with "regular milk" - they only have salted caramel, so auntie chose butterscotch instead. They made sure she was aware of it being a sin to ask for regular milk at a business that has no exterior indication of being dairy-free. She paid over $18 for a 16-20oz iced oat "latte" and a peanut butter brownie. (She said the peanut butter brownie was delicious.) I had brought in a clean 32 oz stainless steel mug, removed the lid, and asked for a 4-shot Americano in the cup; the woman behind the counter said she couldn't take my mug because they are allergen-free. (Please see above re: peanuts. The brownie did not contain faux peanuts.) She assured me that I would receive a 4-shot Americano in one of their (16 oz) paper cups to dump into my reusable cup. Twelve minutes later, I received a doll-sized hot cup, filled to the brim with 2 ounces of tepid, grassy, sour espresso. Auntie asked, while the barista was still standing there, if that was my Americano; I said no; the barista looked at us, turned, and walked away. Because it was becoming hard to breathe through the pretention, we opted to leave rather than ask for a correction on my $8, two ounce, disgusting espresso. Thankfully there is a great coffee shop less than 2.5 miles east of Third Coast, where we were able to throw away the 2 disgusting drinks from Third Coast and get...
Read moreEverytime my spouse and I come to TC we always make a stop at Third Coast. I have Celiac's and it is so nice to find places completely dedicated to gluten free individuals. Unfortunately, our visits were mediocre this visit ( we stopped in twice during our weekend). The donuts were drier than I remember and a bit too dense. Also, I was shocked to pay 8.25 for latte with a $1.50 upcharge for alternative oat milk. I understand how expensive organic/gluten free/alternative options are but over $8 for a latte?! Woah, I will not buy latte's here again at that price. We have a gluten free bakery we go to in GR regularly and their lattes aren't even close to that expensive. I wish we would have been informed of the upcharges before purchase(including .50 upcharge for cream cheese with bagels) but we weren't informed. As many people with Celiac disease are also lactose intolerant, it boggles my mind that the upcharge was this much. Also, the bathroom trash was overflowing when we stopped in earlier in the day and the staff member taking our order the second visit was extremely unfriendly. It made us very uncomfortable. Thankfully, our first visit was encountered with a more enjoyable employee. I have had such positive experiences in the past so I still rated the bakery high, but this time overall I would give it a 3/5. I am hoping our visit next time is...
Read moreWe’re visitors to Traverse City and I was looking for a bakery to celebrate our daughters 17th birthday. I came across this bakery on google maps and saw it had a high rating, so I thought we can’t go wrong. We stopped into the bakery and was greeted by a wonderful young woman, when even though she had her mask on, I was able to feel her smile beaming through it! Anyway, we decided to buy a variety of things such as the peanut butter brownie, chocolate raspberry cupcakes, chocolate cookie, some other type of delicious cookie, lemon blueberry pound cake, A variety of donuts, Go-Go Energy Bites and tried a tall MI Fudgie drink with oatmilk. When we made it back to our vacation home we all tried the tasty treats and my family all approved! What delicious treats they had to offer, I would definitely recommend this place. And that MI Fudgie drink, was immediately gone before I left the parking lot. I had the hot version and my husband had the cold... both very delicious. You won’t be disappointed, this place deserves there high rating. All of our kids loved what we bought and so did the adults. We will for sure come back the next time we visit. Thanks for putting so much love into your baked goods, we could tell it was made...
