I chose to stay at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center while moving myself from the mountains of Southern California to the Chicagoland area. The drive was very difficult for me and I needed a nice, clean, easy to access hotel to stay in. From the first call to book a reservation, which was with Whitney, I found the team at this hotel to be one of the kindest, most caring, compassionate and professional hotel teams' I have come across. Whitney was so kind while setting up my reservation. She also greeted me at the front desk and had a way of making me feel like I had come home. So welcoming, professional and enthusiastic about her job. I needed to get some food and ordered off their room service menu. Brooke delivered my meal and again, I was so lucky to encounter a friendly, kind person, who also clearly loved what she did for her profession. I then had a few issues in my room; the heater, internet and TV were giving me trouble. Brice came right up and quickly fixed all three items while also having the best attitude. Due to being disabled, the following morning I realized I could not continue my drive and needed a day of rest. I called down to the front desk to see if they had availability to extend my stay. I spoke with Dante. Dante was so quick to take care of my needs and extend the reservation and insure I was ok, asking if there was anything else I needed? She was quick to let me know that she was available to help me if there was anything else she could do. I asked for a few housekeeping items and Josh came up to take care of my needs. He was very friendly, and helpful. We took a few minutes to discuss my driving plans and where I was thinking my next stay should be while heading to Chicago. He gave me great advice which worked out very well. Later in the afternoon, I was on the hunt for hot tea and called the Front Desk and spoke to Jaden. Again, a very kind, friendly and professional attitude. Jaden suggested that I go to the bar where Brooke was working and Brooke could take care of those needs. Brooke also took the time to look over the menu with me while I was trying to decide on dinner items. I have a very restricted diet and Brooke came up with a very good idea where the chef would make some simple changes to accommodate me. The next morning before leaving, I went down to the restaurant to fix breakfast to take up to my room. Kathy helped me and was so nice and thoughtful and wanted to know about me and what brought me to the hotel? She was so excited to share that this hotel is getting ready for a complete renovation and mentioned that the entire team at the hotel is excited about the renovation. She asked if I ever come back through Tulsa, would I please come back and stay at the hotel and experience the new renovations? All in all, this was such a unique experience, because of the team I encountered. It was clear, that management at this hotel is taking care of those working at the Renaissance. There was such a comforting and joyful energy from everyone. In today's world, I find it very lucky if you can find one nice person. This hotel was beyond 5 stars with the care they provide. I had the chance to meet the General Manager, Kyle upon leaving and shared my experience with him. He stopped what he was doing. Took his time to listen to me and cared about what I had to say. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst I have to say the reviews before mine about how bad this place needs updated are not lying by any means. This was our first trip back to this hotel in 11 years and the first time 11 years ago it was beautiful, CLEAN, well kept, and a place you'd brag about staying at. This time not so much while yes the indoor courtyard was nice-ish it could have been cleaner more updated. The pool was nasty I don't think the tiles have been cleaned in years with the amount of thick grease/body oils on them kids were literally writing their names in it, it was so thick and noticeable š¤¢. The Sauna was pretty nice could have had better instructions for the knob and switch. This place was practically sold out all but 40 rooms if I overheard correctly, and they only had 2 elevators operational. Mind you this is an annual event... Also where are the stairs, we couldn't find them while there for an entire week, as a structural designer I know they legally have to be there somewhere, md should be well marked in case of a fire. Walls were crumbling in places, water spots on the ceiling multiple shades of yellow paint in one area to cover up stuff, public bathrooms OMG did yall have a sewer back up for an entire week? Now, to the room. The carpet left a lot to be desired, it was hard in some spots other areas it was rolling up from being sooo old. Our bed linens had holes in them, the pillows were sooo flat two was far from enough. There was mold on the grout in the shower, the wallpaper was peeling, curling, and in some places non existent as someone had carefully cut a chunk out of it. Now, on to housekeeping the policy stated if you put the towels/wash clothes on the floor they will be replaced, got back to our room one day and they left us with 1 towel and 1 wash cloth, when I went to the front desk to get more housekeeping brought us a mountain of towels when I only asked for 2 more towels and wash clothes, I just wanted what we needed for the people in our room....
Yalls air conditioners work a bit too well, just saying for the common areas.
Now for some of the positives, the bar tenders were fantastic super friendly and upbeat for what all they were dealing with. The front desk staff for the most part were top notch as well. The catering staff was fantastic and on point with food delivery to each person. The catering that was done though was superb, how often have you gotten a catered meal and been able to cut the steak with a butter knife?! Although it could have been seasoned a bit more for our liking I'm far from complaining on that notion as that's an us preference and not an everyone thing. The chicken lunches were fantastic, them wine glass salads I need that recipe as my 11 year old wants more š mini cheesecakes were perfect. I'd also like to add that all these meals that were served to all of us were very well portioned and balanced. The buffet style meals also had a wide enough variety that you could pick and choose what you wanted and not be disappointed. I had just come off a strict 90 day program and I maintained my weight loss which is all I could ask for when I wasn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a hard hotel for me to rate. We have stayed at this particular hotel over the years at least five times with little to no complaints. Marriott hotels have always been a good stay for us. Their hotels have always been nice and clean with great staff, so I didnāt think twice booking here for a two day visit to Tulsa. || Parking: Most of our stays have been free parking, but not anymore, it shows $12.00 a day. I am a member of Marriott rewards and you would think parking would be free, or reduced pricing for members. Upon checking in, the young man at the desk told me heād take care of registering it. We leave the next morning and there was a notice on my truck stating I need to register. I spoke to the front desk again and she also stated, I will take care of it, and again, we go to our truck and there is a card stating we needed to register. || As usual, the drive up to the hotel is nice. beautiful. Once inside the lobby, it was nice. Pre-check-in was wonderful! The young man was kind and helpful (minus the not registering my truck for parking). I walked in, he looked at my ID and handed me my room keys and we headed straight up to our suite. || Upon entering, the room looked good, but once inside you start noticing things. It has the same furniture, window coverings and carpet it did in 2009. The couch was tattered in spots, and the same window covering from 9 years is still broken. I know because we have stayed in this same room in 2009 and around 2015. The bathtub is just gross! The slip pad is gone and it looks like the tub hasnāt been scrubbed since then.(attached photos). The carpet needs to be stretched and cleaned badly, as you will see in the (attached photoās.). The windows in the main room(Iām in a one bedroom suite)needs to be cleaned inside and out. The bedroom and the main room vents need cleaned. (Photoās attached). Also, our door latch, wellā¦there wasnāt one, completely missing. | Housekeeping: The room was somewhat clean upon arrival, however, the next day only cleaning was emptying trash and making the bed. I always leave a tip for housekeeping. I left the tip and asked if she would leave two extra regular coffeeās and she didnāt. Also the creamer was curdled. However, she did thank me for the tip and I thought that was nice of her. The bathroom wasnāt touched as far as I could see, as there was a long black hair on the floor and the floor was NOT vacuumed or mopped. We reused our towels and rehung them. I do not reuse wash rags, so I placed them on the floor to let housekeeping know we needed clean ones, she didnāt leave any. ||Our stay was good, if we overlooked the problems listed above. It makes me sad to see how the hotel is unkept. It could be incredible if it was updated and managed better. Sadly, we probably will not...
