As of today August 30, 2018, I have given Homewood Suites Columbus/OSU $1245.16. That's correct, in the past 10 days I have given this hotel what some people pay for a mortgage. Upon arrival I was told that my credit card was declined and there was a problem with my reservation. After explaining to Carly at the front desk that they were using the incorrect expiration date, she manually corrected the information in their system and all was well. Fast forward to this morning, I was called by the front desk attendant Talia Black and told that yet again my card was declined for the two additional nights I reserved. I tried to explain to Talia that I had this same issue with Carly three days prior and it could simply be fixed by correcting the expiration date. Talia said that there was no way they entered anything wrong and that I needed to bring the card to the desk because it was declined. So I went to the front desk and told Talia that I did not appreciate the constant back and forth about my credit card and I wanted this fixed once and for all. She said that I was raising my voice at her and bringing her "unnecessary attitude". At that point I told Talia that I would not go back and forth with her as I was a paying guest and requested to see Joy. Talia then asked me if I wanted to stay there in a threatening manor as if she was going to put my four children and I out of the hotel, she began to laugh profusely and waive me off as I told her I would wait for her manager. When Joy arrived at the front desk highly agitated even before I could speak with her. As I began to explain the confusion to Joy she cut me off mid-sentence and said and I quote, "We don't use raised voices in here". I explained to Joy that this situation was highly agitating as I was a guest under duress in the first place. I tried to explain to her that it was a simple clerical error and they needed to change the expiration date. When I said that she rolled her neck and gave Talia the "eye". I said to Joy, "So you have an attitude as well?". She then looked at Talia and said and I quote "Get her out of here, I have a crook in my neck and she's accusing me of having an attitude, put her out!" I was mind boggled, actually perplexed at the notion that I was actually being thrown out of the hotel for raising my voice which was a tad over a normal speaking tone and "accusing Joy of having an attitude". As I stood in the lobby with the room spinning, thinking about the $1245.16 that I had given them over the past 10 days, and how my loyalty to the Hilton Honors brand meant nothing, I became flustered and felt very belittled. My four children and I were abruptly kicked out of the hotel at 10 am. I told Joy that I would like her to call the police as I felt unsafe and I did not want any issues, and I wanted to be able to get all my belongings and my four children out of the room without incident. Talia began saying "Don't do that, you don't want the police involved you don't want this on your record!". And I'm thinking to myself...what is this woman talking about? I'm not refusing to leave, I'm requesting the police because it had turned into a hostile environment and I wanted to be alloted the appropriate amount of time to get my children and myself out of there safely. Joy called the police and began to give them a description of me, I advised Joy to tell them I'd be waiting outside when they arrive. There was no need to make them feel as though they would be arriving to chaos. A very nice officer arrived from the City of Upper Arlington Police Division. He made two trips to the room shoutout to Upper Arlington police department for being polite, respectful, and considerate of my feelings as well as the well being of my children. As a side note, the officer said that Joy has discretionary rights to pick and choose who she kicks out of the property. I wonder if all annoyed, frustrated, guests get kicked out of the hotel? Surely, her skin has to be thick enough to handle an...
Read moreShocked at how terrible the room was at a “Hilton” hotel. I have stayed in nicer Motel 6 and Motel 8 rooms. We chose this particular hotel because we have stayed at two other Homewood Suites in Austin and San Francisco. Both were fantastic, very clean and well kept. What you expect from Hilton and why you pay more. This particular OSU Homewood Suites hotel is small and different from the other locations we have stayed at. The room size is generous, that was the only good thing. There is an open parking lot that was completely full. So you actually park in a garage across from the hotel, which is part of another hotel. Odd. The hotel lobby and hallways were clean at least. And the front desk staff was lovely. However, the hotel room was very old and run down. Every piece of furniture had chips and scratches. The walls by the bed and in the bathroom had scratches. The couch was extremely uncomfortable and stiff, and the edges were fraying and/or had rips and tears. The armchair had a random, mismatched cushion. The ottoman was missing a button. It was all just very sad. The ceiling had stains. The carpet also had stains. Gross. The bathroom sink faucet was stuck and very hard to turn. Hot water was slow to get hot. The shower was quite clean, surprisingly. The bathroom mirror frame had chips and scratches. Electrical outlets were loose, which is a hazard; a phone charger would not stay plugged in, it would just fall out. Also, the WiFi barely worked. You can connect to the network but it drops the connection quickly and/or is incredibly slow. The room overall felt like a Goodwill. It was very shabby and dated. It is clear that the owner of this hotel doesn’t care about standards. At check out we noted the issues and they said they’ll look into it. I doubt they care or will do anything, since they haven’t already. We were extremely disappointed staying at this hotel. It’s an absolute embarrassment to the Hilton name. We...
Read moreI have stayed in this hotel many times, and it has dropped in quality. I am beginning to rethink my Hilton Honors membership because over the last few months, I have seen such a downturn. I do not recommend this hotel.||The Good: the hotel is located in a very convenient location, and it is quiet at night. The employees - though obviously too few in number — are friendly. If being in Upper Arlington is a must for you, then try Townplace Suites next door first, but if they are full, then this hotel is an acceptable substitute.||The bad: I chose this hotel for its kitchen facilities, and on the first night, I noticed that there were 2 inches of water standing in the bottom of the dishwasher. I reported the problem and fully expected that it would be handled the next day. Reader, it was not. I’m writing this review on my last of 3 nights here, and I have not been able to use the dishwasher. I reminded the front desk of this issue the next day, and no one ever came to fix it. There is still 2 inches of water in the bottom of the dishwasher.||The Internet is abysmal, even the premium that costs $5 extra. This is a new one for me because normally Internet reliability is one advantage that Hilton has over Marriott. But not here. I struggled repeatedly until I realized a pattern in how the connectivity worked - but it should not take 5 minutes to get online. I had an important meeting to run via Zoom, and it was a struggle making it through.||The hot water takes forever to emerge in the tub and bathroom sink, but when it does, it is scalding hot. Do not let a child run their own bath or shower water, as they could get burned. Same issue in the kitchen.||The towels are rough and crispy and the bed is like a slab of concrete. The pillows are like lumps of sand. ||You can do so much better than...
