Sorry all, but they don't match up to other Ramen places you can find around Columbus, trust me i've been looking for and eating quality ramen for the past 4 years ever since i was spoiled by having the chance at eating home cooked ramen from a chef from tokyo and wanting to recreate that delectable experience. The noodles are a bit bland and not properly finished. The ingredients all taste like they've sat a bit too long in oils, as well as just being sub-par compared to the cuts of meat and amount of ingredients you'll receive in bowls from other shops, let alone the level of freshness that seems to be lacking in all their dishes here. The broths are decent and keep their rating high, but there isn't any depth to them. The disparity between the advertised product on their menu, especially the visual aspect, that you're about to order never matches up; it always appears bland, or monochromatic and feels lack luster. Thinking about all of that, the price point just kills it for me. It's definitely not worth it, as they ask way too much for what they're offering. Especially when other shops will have the exact same dish, with better quality, for cheaper...
You don't have to take my word for it though, just look around you. If a purveyor of food from a specific region/culture is selling a good product, then you would expect a certain amount of peoples from the region/culture to also shop there as an indicator that the food meets their standards, yet every time i've been there's not many if any at all that eat there... interesting...
This is my honest opinion of the place based on my experiences with them specifically and influenced by having had the chance to try other ramen shops in and around the Columbus area. You don't have to take my word on any of it and i will definitely suggest you at least try the place once before giving your own review/opinion. It's good, but not great. There's room for improvement for sure, but as it stands you won't find me here given the choice if they don't step...
Read moreThis place has been great until today my husband and I become so disappointedMy husband ordered Chicken ramen and I ordered signature ramen. Mine tastes good as usual, but my husbandâs order had a very sour flavor in the broth. It is totally different from what we have been experiencing before (we have ordered chicken ramen several times before). We talked to the waiter and said the broth tastes wired. He kindly served us another chicken ramen, which tasted the same, very sour broth. The waiter said they are using the exact same recipe and this should not happen. The waiter then suggested my husband to change the order to the signature ramen (which is a few bucks cheaper) and my husband accepted it. The wired thing happen again, my husbandâs signature ramen has a very faint flavor and the soup even has a different color from my signature ramen soup. My husband got so upset and didnât want to eat any more, not to mention that there is barely any flavor in it. We gave up arguing with them. The waiter didnât apologize to us and also didnât do anything about the price difference. This is not a please dining experience. We might still come here to eat because the noodles are good (except for this case), but we are very upset about how the waiter treated us. I really think they should charge for tips at the end of dining instead of when you are...
Read moreI ate an absolutely delicious lunch earlier today [11-26-2019] at Fukuryu Ramen Upper Arlington.
I had been able to carefully study the Fukuryu Ramen website on-line before arriving and therefore had already decided that I would order and eat Signature Tonkotsu ["Our most popular ramen -- thick and full-bodied pork bone broth, topped with braised pork belly, our housemate bamboo shoots, and wood ear mushroom"].
Fukuryu Ramen Upper Arlington is small and had been extremely crowded when I had arrived for my noontime meal. But less than four minutes after I had ordered my food and had paid, they were bringing my still-boiling bowl to my table.
One great feature of Fukuryu Ramen Upper Arlington is that there are both chopsticks and forks [and there are also napkins] at each table so one would never need to ask a server for any of those items
The staff at Fukuryu Ramen Upper Arlington is very friendly and extremely energic. During my extremely brief wait for my food to arrive, a large group of people left a nearby table. Within a few seconds, a server was clearing that table and preparing it for the next customers.
One slightly unusual thing about Fukuryu Ramen Upper Arlington is that they are closed 2:30-5:00 p.m. daily. So if you are looking for a middle-afternoon meal, you will need to...
