I came in for a color retouch on December 16th , and I don't know what happened, but I left with a tangled mess of matted hair. The bad thing about it was that the stylist didn't seem to have a problem with the way my hair looked when I left. The salon refunded my money, but I was still left with tangles and a huge matt on the side of my head. I spent the whole Christmas holiday with a scarf over my head. I could not untangle that mess. I went back in and the manager, Cheyenne, set me up with Lisa for the next day. Lisa spent well over 2 hours patiently getting the matt out and carefully washed and conditioned my hair. The tangles tried to come back but Lisa was on top of it and was able to prevent another mess. She then cut 6-8 inches off my hair, already it looked much better. She did not feel comfortable with me washing my hair and getting another mess, so we made an appointment for a shampoo 3 days later. When I came back she shampooed it and everything seemed to be in order. Lisa knew exactly what I needed and she treated me as such, not just another routine client. I don't know what I would have done without her!!!! To anyone going to Nurtur for hair services, I strongly recommend Lisa, she cares about what she is doing and it shows. Nurtur the salon and Cheyenne did the right thing by me when i had a problem and treated me with respect. I highly recommend this business. 5/1/2025 Just wanted to add another wonderful visit with Lisa today, as usual she exceeded my expectations! She has a way of knowing your hair and what it needs. Love Aveda products. This is a clean, attractive salon with friendly people up front. I have gone to this salon off/on for at least a decade (stylists come and go). About a year ago (Sept 2020) I was referred to a stylist here, Gina Rossi, when I couldn't get to my go-to girl in VA (Covid-19). I was SUPER PLEASED and Gina exceeded my expectations. My hair was a DISASTER from having gone for God only knows how long without any attention! My hair grew out really nicely, which is always a sign that you got a good cut. I recently re-visited the salon for a haircut with Gina again. And again, she did a marvelous job giving me an effortless doo that suits me well, looks youthful, playful and attractive. I can style it if I choose for an event, or let it air dry and it holds it shape. Gina is so professional and hopefully will be there for my next cut! One last mention, Nurtur is still scheduling their stylists in the interest of social distancing. Don't be turned off if the salon is fairly empty they've done that so clet's are not on top of each other everyone, which I appreciated. There's no overcrowding or waiting for a shampoo bowl. The fact is, this type of setting can be more prone to spreading germs so it is admirable that the business, and their stylists, are sacrificing profits in favor of people. The employees wear masks and it's a low-risk Covid environment. You can choose to wear a mask or not during your services. However, my understanding is that the employees have all gotten the vaccine which made me feel much more comfortable removing my mask for my hair service. (I am also vaccinated.) I go in every 4 weeks now, and it feels like I’m going to visit with a dear friend who has the magical ability to give me amazing skin. I leave feeling confident and beautiful, and I have so much fun talking to Angela! She’s incredibly knowledgeable about skin and skin care, and she’s transformed my skin in a way I didn’t know was possible without invasive procedures!
