I booked based on 4.5 star avg review but don't feel it deserves this high of a rating. I stayed in a King Suite, a good sized room appropriately furnished. Upon check-in the hotel had a slightly weird (chemical?) smell to it (not overpowering or overly obnoxious but unpleasant), the window at the end of the hallway was broken. When I checked into my room I went to use the toilet and found a clump of hair on the toilet seat (not a single hair, but ~15 longer hairs matted together in a string). When washing my hands I found a dried piece of something in the sink, I don't know if it was a piece of food or worse. I went to dry my hand with the washcloth and the cloth was stained/discolored to the point where in the back of my mind I started to question how clean my room was. I started to unpack and went to turn the lamp on the desk (I arrived after dark). The lamp didn't work (it flickered when pushing the button but wouldn't stay turned on). I noticed that the room was warm but the air conditioning was running full blast. It wasn't cooling because the curtains block the vent and all of the air blows into the window frame. I had to carefully pick up the bottoms of the curtain and balance them in the window frame to get the room to cool down. I went to set the alarm clock and noticed it was unplugged, I plugged it in and it also didn't work. I unplugged it and plugged my cell phone in the outlet and it started to charge. When I woke up in the morning and took a shower I noticed the faucet handle and tub spout had a film of soap/water spots that, coupled with everything else, led me to believe it hadn't been cleaned for a few uses. There was also a hair in the bathtub. When I went to shave using the adjustable vanity mirror it also had spots (like somebody used it to brush their teeth and it didn't get cleaned afterward?). I went to make coffee in the in-room coffee maker but when I went to pour water in the top I realized it was full of white and brown debris. With everything else I decided I wasn't comfortable making the coffee and went without coffee. I'm not a germ-o-phobe or neat freak but I've never even given the in-room coffee makers a 2nd thought at other hotels but I couldn't bring myself to...
Read moreOn August 24 2022 I myself my husband and two kids checked in to the Holiday Inn Allentown West. Days prior to coming I spoke to Stacey. Stacey is a wonder caring person and made me feel like I was home before I got to the hotel. On the 24th when we checked in we arrived at almost 9:30pm. The young lady at the desk told me because we got there so late that the kids could enjoy the pool until 11:30pm and kept the pool open late so they could swim. I forgot to get the names of the other women that night, but everyone I spoke to was very helpful. The highlights of this hotel is A. the fantastic staff B. The Free full breakfast. C. It has a pool the pool is a little small but perfect if you are traveling with the little ones. and it is only a 10 min drive to Dorney park and other areas of Allentown. Breakfast was amazing and with a K Cup style coffee make in room plus microwave and mini fridge it perfect. This hotel has 2 sides the quiet side away from the traffic which if you do not like noise of truckers I would suggest asking for the quiet side. The hotel staff is very caring and accommodating. The room the bed are super comfortable pillow top . We brought our Roku from home but it does have free wifi. All through out the stay the staff was very warm and inviting. Always asking if everything was ok in our room. Making sure we were very comfortable. In the shower in the bathroom they did care dove on the wall Dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash. On the last night we were stuck getting out of the theme park. My old was scared that we would not make it back in time to go swimming on the last night. I called the hotel to ask if the girls could swim late again. The young women on the phone said yes they could swim until 11pm. If I could I would give this hotel 10 stars. I want to thank Stacey and the rest of the hotel staff for making our first family vacation after all the pandemic stuff a magical one.
I want to Thank You for reading my review. Remember have fun with what your doing and keep it real. Thank you The...
Read moreI’ll start off with saying that I’ve been a member of IHG and staying at Holiday Inn’s for a few years now. This location, so far, has provided me with the most disgusting experience thus far. I’ll take it from the beginning.
I booked the King Executive Suite a while back for my families trip to the area. The day of our stay I notice that my reservation has been changed from the executive suite I reserved to two separate rooms that were conjoined. If I had know this ahead of time I would have cancelled the reservation, but what really bothers me is that I had to call and find out why that happened. No one from the hotel contacted me. Apparently, someone destroyed the room the night before (which should have alerted me to the type of people that frequent the hotel, which would explain the smell of weed all over the 3rd floor).
When we get to the room we immediately had a problem with the adjoining doors self closing and locking on their own. We wound up locking our selves out of one room with our stuff inside of it. Thank God it was only our things and not our 2 and 3 year olds because the process to get back into the room was long and ridiculous and I had to hear the housekeeping woman complain the whole time, which was great. On top of that, there was blood on the toilet seat of one of the rooms, which I told the front desk, but was probably forgotten in the whole confusion of how to unlock one of their own hotel doors. After coming from 3.5 hours away and spending the whole day out we decided to clean it ourselves and just not use that bathroom.
This was an unacceptable experience and I don’t know if this is how you run your hotel, but this experience has convinced us that we are done with IHG. There are plenty of other options that have much more pride in...
