UPDATE SECOND VISIT It's all about location. This was our second stay, the first being in 2019. Not a lot has changed. Sites are very close. We had a back-in site along the road so not only did we hear traffic all night, but anyone walking along the sidewalk. Picnic table was right up to our rig and we have a very small rig. Fortunately, the sewer connections are near the back of the site and picnic tables positioned to the front. Showers/toilets available and the main door is open until 2000 then you need a code to access. Laundry is available - about 10-washers and six dryers (one was out of service) and it's $3 per wash and $3 per dry. Doesn't take coins, you'll need to exchange money for tokens in the office. Trash cans were located about every fourth site and were emptied at least twice a day. Staff were friendly, but even after multiple phone calls and emails starting in March, I never got a confirmation of my reservation. Sites are full hookups and everything worked great. A couple of restaurants nearby.
Gravel parking lot with no trees but located across the street from the harbor and within walking distance of several restaurants, etc. A full site offers water, electricity, sewer, cable tv and wifi, but the physical site is small. Restrooms were clean; we liked the privacy but the actual showers were very small. No discounts - No Good Sam, Senior Citizens,...
Read moreWe stayed here in August. We followed our GPS straight into the middle of town and right to the campground. Check-in at the office was quick, and we pulled into Pull-through Site 43 with FHUs (30 AMP). The campground was essentially a large gravel parking lot with sparse patches of grass and weeds between a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. While the sites were very close together, the spectacular mountain views in every direction made this CG special. The utilities were well placed in the center of the long pad, allowing us to drop the patio on our 40’ toy hauler and still park our F450. Water pressure was steady at about 50 PSI, and each site had a small picnic table. Connectivity was mixed: 4 bars on Verizon extended network, 3 bars on T-Mobile (sometimes workable), and above-average campground WiFi. With no trees on-site, Starlink had a clear shot from the roof, though placing it on the ground wasn’t practical with other rigs and vehicles moving about. The domestic rabbits that roam all over Valdez were an unexpected and fun addition to our stay. We usually don’t choose in-town campgrounds, but Bear Paw worked well for us. Its location made it easy to explore everything Valdez had to offer, and the surrounding mountain views made the close sites and gravel...
Read morePerfect! The location is wonderful, close to the harbor, walking distance to pretty much everything. We ended up walking to the Safeway and subway near by and the street has a lot of food options. We were able to park our rv, and hook it up to sewer, electric and water and it all worked seamlessly. The owners are such sweet people! There is also a gift shop. The showers and bathrooms (6 or 8 of them I think) were very clean and comfortable. The wifi worked pretty well too. Other guests are explorative and talkative people so it's a nice way to meet others. The only thing to watch for is that there are a lot of busses at the best western so if you park on that side there might be more noise. They can make a lot of noise in the morning but that really...
