We stayed in the Palm and Gulf apartments facing the beach in the new section of the resort. The Palm room is named after the art décor of Palm trees throughout the apartment and furniture. The Gulf room has a marine life décor of fish and manatees. Our family includes 4 adults and 2 children ages 9 and 12. This is our 4th year in a row staying at The Beachcomber. The British owners, Tekla and Robert, add personalized touches like a handwritten note greeting each member of the family with a tropical flower and plate of cookies and chocolates waiting for you in the kitchen. The king size bed is so comfortable that is was hard to wake up in the mornings from the good night’s sleep we got which is unusual for me to sleep so well when not in our normal bed. They even stock the bedroom closet with some books and puzzles for your enjoyment. The sofa converts to a bed for 2 where our kids slept. There’s one TV in the living room with Xfinity cable and free Wi-Fi Internet. The bathroom has a blow dryer under the sink, bath and hand towels, natural hand-made soap and a hypoallergenic glycerin soap bar. The one thing missing was hair shampoo or conditioner, so you’ll want to bring some with you. The kitchen is fully stocked with a stove/oven, full-size refrigerator with freezer dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, cups and plates, pots and pans. There’s a Publix or Aldi supermarket, Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts within a mile from the beach. If cooking is not your thing, there are a few dockside restaurants by the drawbridge where you can get some fresh seafood. We haven’t eaten there as we tend to bring food and enjoy eating at our vacation rental home to save money during our week-long stay. Both the Palm and Gulf apartments are beautifully decorated to make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise environment. The outdoor, covered patio is huge so you can enjoy amenities like using the BBQ grill, the lounge chairs and hammock. It’s a quick walk to the private beach access to watch a beautiful sunset or early morning sunrise each morning. We’ve often set up our tent and beach chairs/tent in the morning and left it there throughout the day without a problem while the kids and adults enjoyed finding shark teeth, shells and the water. The public beach is just a few minutes away so visitors can find ample parking at the public beach lot. On Saturday nights there is a drum circle party with music and hula dancing which is unique to Nokomis. I like this beach so much because it doesn’t have the huge crowds that Sarasota beaches normally have, and you can get from your car to the beach quicker. It only takes 5-10 min. from I-75 to beach unlike other beaches where it may take you 30 minutes. The Beachcomber also has smaller apartments to save a few dollars. We enjoy the Palm and Gulf because they have ample space for our family and are side -by-side. I can’t say enough about the customer service level and attentiveness with these owners. They ensured that with a deposit we could secure the week we wanted for summer a year in advance. Unlike other places I have experienced where they were not ready for our check-in time, the Beachcomber has always been as expected for our arrival. They keep their vacation rentals in super clean condition and in working order plus provide those personal touches that others do not. So, you get what you pay for in comfort and ambiance. If you’re the partying or reckless type, this may not be the place for you. If you are courteous and respectful and value the environment, they have taken time to create for you as a lush tropical paradise then I think you’ll enjoy this beautiful treasure as...

The first 2 times we stayed back in 2014 were wonderful. We loved it so much that we stayed a 3rd time in July 2015 and it was a disaster. I didn't have the heart to trash Tekkla and Robert back then but this keeps popping up on Facebook for me to review, so I am giving my honest review. The a/c unit broke on our 2nd night - a Saturday night - and it was late into Monday before it was fixed. They did not offer to call the emergency weekend service and when I asked them, the answer was NO! Tekkla brought us 1 fan - big woop. Although she later said in an email response that she offered us a refund us a refund, she did not offer us a refund. When the a/c was finally fixed, the repairman was very rude and confrontational with us abd accused us of turning the thermostat down to 63. In reality, we never went below 72 because there was a sign than specified not to turn below 72. Then Robert came barreling up accusing us of the same thing then he told us not to go below 75. He said this was Florida comfort. Really? The following day, I had some friends visit and they parked across the street in a designated lot. Some other guests staying in the same building and there was a car blocking the circular drive. Robert came banging on our door and continued to argue and threaten to have my friend's car towed. I finally told him he needed to ask the guests staying in the building and leave us alone. There were 2 or 3 occupied apartments. Valerie was also very rude when I asked if I could get some soap (which has been provided prior). Her response was "we we aren't the Marriott. This just added to our already growing disgust with the stay. We would have been thriled at 1 o or 2 nights refund but it was never offered. They are great as long as nothing goes wrong. Needless to say, this place does not deserve 5 stars and I am giving it a 1 because there is no zero. Buyer ...

This is our second stay at the beachcomber. First one was 3 years ago in one of the waterside villas, this time we were in apartment 6.we would of returned sooner but covid stopped us. The beachcomber was so good we planned our whole holiday round availability there, even changing our arrival and departure airport. #6 is on the upper floor so as steps.big living space as lounge area, kitchenette and dining space.seperate bedroom with walk in closet and bathroom. Kitchen has everything you need.we stocked up on groceries first day and were able to eat at our leisure and stay at the beach a 2 minute walk away. Chairs ,umberellas, floats and all beach stuff are available. Balcony overlooks the beach and its great watching the late afternoon storms. Ventured out at 10:00 pm and walked north on the beach and spotted nesting turtles everytime. Please respect them and use only red torches when looking for them. There is a resident tortoise in amongst the sea grass. We were in the water one day and a manatee came right behind us.it was great to see so many ospreys around. We will soon be planning our next trip and the beachcomber will be part of it. See you soon...

What a gem! We stayed here for four nights for our recent anniversary and wished we could have stayed even longer. The room (#3) was impeccable and so comfortable, with a queen-sized bed, fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, and lovely decor in blues and aquas to match the colors of the gulf. It was a very short walk to the beach, which we had a nice view of from our balcony. Also, you’re just a few minutes from Venice, where there are many great restaurants and neat little stores (and ice cream shops - we recommend Kilwin’s) to explore. But, even more than all these wonderful attributes are the proprietors of the Beachcomber. Never have I ever before experienced the level of hospitality that Tekla and Robert provided. From the welcome note on the side table to the mini bottle of champagne and sweet goodies (yummy rum cake included) to help us celebrate our anniversary, in addition to the helpful information and tour of the property, they fully welcomed us into the Beachcomber family. We can hardly wait to make another trip to the Beachcomber on Casey Key.

This place is breathtakingly gorgeous! I stayed in #5 which was completely updated. The unit was very clean and comfortable with a panoramic view of the Gulf. The beach is just steps away, and the sunset from the patio is awesome! There are several good restaurants nearby, and Venice is a short 10-15 min drive. The North Jetty is a short drive on Casey Key Rd and the opposite direction will take you on a beautiful drive along the Gulf, but don’t stop because these are privately owned beaches by the people that live in the mansions. I would definitely stay here again.
