Casa Cay on Casey Key — Local services in Venice

We stayed here the last weekend of July. Three of us. The space was big enough, beach access, beautiful sunsets. However, there were a few things that kept me from giving it 5 stars. First, as soon as we arrived about 10pm, (we had reservations in advance & the owners knew we would be arriving late) we came into the room and noticed no less than 20-30 tiny ants on the countertop. We planned on cooking all our meals so the next morning we find 3 of the knives provided were rusty. We were provided real plates, cups, glasses. My wife went to grab a coffee cup and noticed it had been placed in the cabinet unwashed! She went to wash it and noticed we had only been provided a tiny amount of dish soap for 4 days. About 3/8 inch left in bottle. My wife called to report these things and we were assured more dish soap would be supplied, but it never came. I have pics and will provide if I can figure out how to post them. We were also charged a $75 cleaning fee but were required to remove sheets at end of stay, take out trash, and were only allowed to use one bath towel per person or be charged an extra fee. The bed was possibly the hardest I had ever slept on. Four stars is generous but we did have the beach access with beautiful sunsets and it was my daughters wedding weekend which we used the beach for that. Not sure I would recommend this...

Beautiful beach with privacy. Great views of the sunset and beautiful art that is painted on buildings. The shops have handmade jewelry from locals....
