Dis-honest owner; so be careful because your booking might not mean anything.
I booked through Expedia two weeks before stay for my daughter CalSouth Pro+ ODP trial. It was the closest hotel to the field. I was one of the unfortunate (more on it a few moment) that got what looks to be the last few rooms. It was really low price; but I figure we are just there for soccer. The rate jumps 3 times for other people that book the next day. I know because my daughter was not happy that I booked a place without a pool.
The morning (10 AM) of my arrival, the owner ran charge to my card (before my arrival). Citi Bank fraud detection sent a text message of a possible fraud because the expiration date did not match. Expedia forward them my credit card and my subsequent call to Expedia confirms that the credit card sent over to hotel is correct. I reply to CitiBank text that it was fine and call the hotel not more 5 minutes after the text.
The owner answers and said that he canceled the reservation because the credit card was declined when he ran it 10 minutes ago. I explain to him why and he said there is nothing he could do because the reservation has been canceled. Really, he is the owner and he there is nothing he could do to the mistake he made not more than 10 minutes ago? How about rebooking? He didn't even offer that and tell me to call Expedia.
After talking for about 10 minutes, I know I am dealing with a dishonest person who is acting in bad fait. I am not sure he was overbooked or was looking to make some more money. Regardless, just be aware that you are dealing with a dishonest owner.
It was a bit stressful to find another place at the last minute; but we did find a hotel 10 minutes further away and about $25 per-night more at Holiday Inn Express...
Read moreThe Room: I was here for three weeks for work. In the motel category, I give this one five stars because the room was clean and comfortable. Unlike Marriott and Hilton, where I usually stay, this room had a microwave and a fridge twice the size. When staying long-term, it's nice to have a microwave in the room and not have to get dressed to go to the lobby to use the microwave. It was quiet and I felt safe. I rented a King size bed—very comfortable.
The owner: He was very responsive to needs in the room. I have to say, the owner has the best customer service, and he went above and beyond to accommodate me. I am a Platinum member of Marriott and the owner treated me even better than Platinum status.
Location: The location is the reason I looked at Bayshore Inn. It was an 8-10 minute walk from work. The location is within walking distance of Pierpont beach (2 miles, about 40 minutes walk), the Pacific View Mall (less than 10 minutes to walk), VTC at Pacific View (Ventura Transit Center), less than 10 minutes walk and only $1.50 to ride the bus. I caught the bus to the Fair grounds, seaside park, which is also near the beach, Surfer's Point, and about a 15 minutes ride. Vons Food Market, Trader Joes, and Target are all within walking distance. Many fast food eateries like Subway and Wendy's are within walking distance. Bank of America, CVS, Ross, all within short walking distance. The mountains (not sure of the name) is close enough to walk to and hike up. The Amtrak is also close, across the street from the fairgrounds. I took the bus ($1.50) to Amtrak ($14) to Santa Barbara and spent the day. I also too the Amtrak to Los Angeles—$28. Great location!
Price: The price was competitive with the other motels.
Overall: I enjoyed my stay and was very happy with the...
Read moreAhhh where should I begin, if you are expecting to start your "cycle" or even if you are toward then end of your cycle you wont want to stay here. If you accidentally get any blood on the sheets then the owner will charge your card for a fee mine was $50 (how are you going to charge someone $50 without telling someone), or even worse they may go up to you while you are standing out and confront you on how they are unable to get this "massive" (it was not massive it was barley anything) blood stain out of their sheets. Starting your cycle is not something you are able to control it comes when it decides it wants to pay you a visit. They do not give you a do not disturb sign, so they will go into the room make your bed and such without giving you an option. Also, the shower water had a terrible smell to it and the bathroom sink took a long time to drain. And upon arrival when we showed up the door bell did not work so we stood outside for at least 5 minutes and then decided we would have to call this guy in order to get his attention, because knocking on the door wasn't good enough. I have tried talking with the owner multiple times to get my $50 back and he would not budge said he could not afford that type of loss, he was extremely rude and had yelled at me after i said this was an accident and it is not something that I tried to do. He then yelled at me saying "well if you weren't here then that accident would not have happen." The owner is not a nice person at all... You do not want to stay at this hotel. I wish you could...
