We were in the middle of a house fire and had to stay at a hotel while the house was being repaired. The rooms were spotless, gorgeous, and very comfortable for having to accommodate 4 children and 2 adults. The pools are amazing, perfect temperature, and very well maintained. It's just an overall great atmosphere here. We've had a lot of problems with our insurance company and the staff here who absolutely needs to be mentioned by name because of the excellent job they've done. Barbara and Zack went through hell handling my insurance company trying to get them to pay for the room with a card that wouldn't get declined (true story), Heather, Vicky, Joe, Justin and Amber went above and beyond when it came to accommodate us with room services that we need, towel, vacuum, etc, they managed to work it so we got a 2 bedroom suite when my insuramce company would only book to kings because they couldnt figure anything else out - again another nightmare dealing wuth my insuramce company - basically I made this staff's lives a living hell because nothing could go smoothly when it came to our insurance company, and they did all the work with a smile, like it was no big deal but I know it must have been a nightmare. I dont wanna forget yo mention how awesome the maintenance guys have been, Clayton and Steve have been just exceptional, and I know their were others that helped us, but we didnt get there names so please include the entire maintenance staff in the category of Exceptional and something to point out when you stay here the place is always clean, freshly mopped and vacuumed. It was an absolute pleasure staying here, and im actually sad to leave. The entire staff here should be very proud of the job that they are doing here because while we stayed here, I felt like I was home. Thank you all for making us feel lile family while we stayed here.

I rented a 2br condo from owner.. Most of the units are privately owned. Loved the space but almost ruined my trip when i found a bed bug on a blanket in the master bed. Not sure if this a problem throughout the whole property... But i know they are not easy to contain or to treat. Everyone (8 guest) slept in the car after that discovery. After contacting the owner immediately he sent a less than excited response the next morning apologizing and sent an exterminator who said he could not spray while the unit is occupied. So we had to leave all our bags/clothing in the car and go out and purchase 3 air matresses. The owner offered to refund the cost of air matress if i provided a receipt of purchase. I misplaced the receipt so i did not get any money back. You live and you learn.. Will bring my air matress to every hotel from now on.BEWARE!!!!! Be careful and diligently check your linens if you dont want to bring back unwanted souvenirs!!!!

The Appalachian positioned itself as short term condo rental and not hotel, so expecting the usual hotel experience may lead to disappointment. There is a “front desk” hidden in the mini mart next to the lobby but the check-in/check-out process are all handled online through the guest portal. The indoor heated parking garage is a nice luxury during the winter. We stayed at the luxury one bedroom suite and there were electric stove, mini fridge, dishwasher, and a microwave. They provide “starter set” of dishwasher detergent, dish soap, and paper towel as well as plates and cups (see pictures). Our unit could use some maintenance because the faucet aerator was clogged leading to weak stream of water and there were small holes on the bathroom wall where the hairdryer holder should be. However, these minor blemishes does not stop us from enjoying our ski trip staying at the Appalachian with its close proximity to the lift.

If I could give this place 0/5 stars I would. When we got up with our room instead of having a king and a queen we had a king and two fulls, we were two couples so it wasn’t very ideal to have the wrong room. We also noticed it was very hot, when we finally were able to turn on the thermostat it was 85° in the room, we also realized we couldn’t turn on the fan or the A/C. We called the front desk and the women there told us we could turn the switch on in the wall ac and that should make it work. It did not, it made the room hotter, it was then 87° in the room. This was all while trying to get ready for a wedding. We contacted the front desk and they said they would send up maintenance. We then had to get ready in a family members room because it was too hot to stay in ours. Before we left for the wedding, I reached out to the man at the front desk and asked once again for maintenance to go to our room, they said they would contact me when they did. They never reached out, while at the wedding we had to initiate contact and reach out once again to the front desk to see if there was any updates. They informed us there were no updates and they could not provide us with anymore portable ACs or even fans. We were just suppose to sleep in a room that was 87°. The hallways were colder than all of our rooms. The only thing they could do was offer 15% off a $300 room. Which is ridiculous what half the people are sleeping in late august heat. When we asked if we would move rooms, they told us it wasn’t possible because they were sold out. We asked for a bigger discount and we had to wait until a supervisor was available. The next morning, the supervisor was at check out and had no idea about our issues and informed us she couldn’t do anything and had to go to higher ups if we wanted a bigger discount. Later that day they called to let us know they would give us 50% off the room and that it was dealt with. It’s now been 2 weeks and we were still charged $301. We called and they told us that there was a glitch in the system and that it didn’t go through but now it should. I do not believe there was a glitch but a lack of competence in the whole staff. I’ve never been so disappointed in a hotel stay and I’ve stayed in a hotel that was on fire and everyone had to be evacuated. I would never recommended this hotel to anyone and I will forever tell everyone what a horrible place it was. The rooms are too old and ugly to cost $300 for one night too. This is my first review I’ve ever posted, that’s how upsetting this experience was. ||I was so overwhelmed by all of that I forgot to let them know my sheets had old blood and stains on them as well. Pending review||This was my first time at the Appalachian Hotel at Mountain Creek. This was also the season opening weekend. We arrived on 12/26. We parked in front of the hotel, unloaded our luggage in a cart, then parked in the garage. Check-in went smoothly. Probably because it was not crowded when we got there. Staff inside were wearing masks. ||||Pros;||||1. The mountain is a short walk from the hotel so that is convenient.||||2. Heated outside pool and hot tub. Good for the kids at night or something to do other than ski/snowboard. Sauna by the pool for cold nights. FYI- They don’t have towels by the pool. ||||3. 20 minute drive to Warwick,NY which has plenty of places to eat. “Fetch” was great for the adults and kids.||||4. Waffle hut by the lift and learning hill, had great waffles and hot chocolate. They only accept credit card everywhere. No cash.||||4. Kids camp was great. And if you have a lift ticket you can go into the learning area for tips. I stayed the entire time to watch my daughter in case there was an issue. ||||5. If you are staying at the hotel, you can buy lift tickets at the front desk if they are sold out online. ||||6. I liked that you could ski at night.||||7. There is a game room for the kids.||||Cons;||||1. Hotel was understaffed due to the pandemic. Have patience and be kind to the staff. They are trying.||||2. Check the bedding when you get in. There was hair and stains. Not sure if they wash the bedding before they put it back on the bed. We asked for new sheets and a new comforter.||||3. Food at the on-site restaurants was not great. Check expiration on food. Bring your own food and snacks if you can. Might be due to staffing issues. ||||4. I would bring Lysol and some cleaning products just in case for the room. Due to being understaffed, not sure how thoroughly they clean. Although our room was mostly clean. ||||5. Phone in the room was broken. But we have our cell phones and got the number for the front desk so that was the work around for that. ||||6. Tubing was not open. I was told that they delayed the opening for a bit later in the season. We had bought tickets online and they refunded us once it was canceled. ||||7. Rooms are old, but I was told that they are in the process of renovating the rooms. So eventually they will be updated.||||8. Both of our room keys deactivated twice during our trip. The front desk fixed it but if you are going to the pool and come back to the room and that happens... it is not a pleasant experience!||||9. Main light switch controls the bathroom light. So if you do not want to wake everyone up in the middle of the night, bring a flashlight or...
