Not what we expected at all. Hotel was empty when we got past the front door keypad. No one at all appeared to be in the building. No front desk. We were in Pappy Van Winkle Suite that they attempted to charge $400. The hotel is very very old and in the process of revamping. My allergies were immediately set off in the room due to the conditions. Closet doors were not functions. Pictures of room valid, but literally every picture in our "suite" was a framed poster that should cost between $5-10. Parking was street parking and many of the shops downtown were abandoned. We were uncomfortable leaving our car on the street. The door to our room was so old and had never been retrimmed, that you could see light all the way through the edge. They use the last four digits of your phone number for your room code, anyone figuring that out could enter your room? We left after ten minutes as we didn't not feel this is what our expectations should be for a "hotel" at $400 a night. The owner called after my wife sent and email and said he would refund us and apologized for the miss-understanding. He then only refunded $200. Hard to feel like this isn't a scam to get travelers to stay in what is essentially an apartment in a very old building with no amenities or security. If you wanted a bottle of water or a towel, you won't be getting one that this...
Read moreWe were in town to go on several bourbon tours and wanted to stay someplace nice and boy did we find it!!! This hotel is actually like small apartments. They have restored an old building in downtown Versailles and managed to keep the charm of the old building, with modern amenities. We stayed in room 201 which is the Wild Turkey Suite, It has two bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. The king size bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. The room was decorated with great attention to detail and we appreciated the well thought out theme. The noise from the street was very noticeable until we turned on the white noise machine that is provided by the hotel, It really does help and we slept very well. We had family members that stayed in room 302 and they really liked that room as well. This hotel is very close to the Woodford Distillery and just a few miles away you will find Castle Key and Buffalo Trace. We had diner at a Pizza Place across the street and around the side of the building, food was good. We were only here for one night and wished we could have stayed at least two. The furniture in the living area is comfortable and the kitchenette was stocked with glasses, silver wear, plates, and paper towels. We are looking forward to...
Read moreThe Woodford Hotel was good! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because we were under the impression it was a hotel because it says hotel in their name and it's more like an Air BNB, which is fine if that's what you're expecting. We were there for 3 nights and it would have been nice to have new towels and some kind of room service for the amount we paid. They had dishes which we used but I wasn't sure if we were supposed to clean them or not because in a hotel, they would take them, etc. We tried a small counter spill but we had no paper towels. The other couple we went with had paper towels in their kitchen. Once we realized there wasn't an actual person there to speak with, we didn't call/text to ask any questions because we didn't want to be a bother. It was nice to have the little kitchen area to put waters and anything else in the refrigerator for. The appliances seem to be new. If I were rating this as an Air BNB, I would give it 5 stars, it just wasn't what any of of us were expecting. It was very nice and...
