We stayed at The Aldenberg for a family trip to Keeneland. To say that the hotel is beautiful is an understatement. It is absolutely gorgeous! We valet parked and the valet and bellman were so welcoming and pleasant, setting the tone for our stay. The elevator was out of commission while we were there (but they were working on it the morning we checked out). We did not lift not one bag ! When we checked in and checked out, they handled all of our luggage for us. The rooms were spacious and beautiful and I felt like we were staying in someone's home because the accessories and every detail was carefully curated to reflect the theme of the room. The mattress and bedding were so comfortable that we asked how to purchase . The staff attended to our every need quickly and with a smile. I asked for an iron and within minutes they appeared at our door with a very nice steamer. We asked for hangers because they had hooks for clothing and they found hangers. One morning I inquired about coffee and it was prepared for us and brought up the stairs. There is a restaurant opened for dinner, but not breakfast and lunch. The hotel is very walkable to anything downtown. The Amsden Station restaurant is only steps away and we walked there for dinner the first night we were there. We definitely will make reservations for Silks at the hotel next time because it looks so inviting! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Keeneland or The Bourbon Trail. I cannot say enough about how friendly and accommodating the staff was. We met the owner the last day and he was so cordial and genuinely appreciated our business. We will most...
Read moreThis hotel has lots of potential. It is gorgeous. We wanted to love it, however, there were a few things that soured our stay. When we checked in I asked if they were full and was told only 2 guest were staying (we were one of the two). With that being said, with the hotel basically empty, we were given probably the WORST room in the entire hotel. The view was an alley with a porta potty, dumpster and Enterprise refrigerated truck. Worse than the view was the refrigerated truck that ran 24/7 and this truck literally sits under the window and the head of the bed. We were shocked there was no thought put into assigning our room location, especially since the hotel was empty. Another item that really didn't sit well with us was the elevator not working. It would have been nice to forewarn us. Below is a list of pros and cons on other issues.
Pro: Beautiful hotel Good location Beds are very comfortable Staff are incredibly nice
Cons: Elevator not working No full length mirror in room No breakfast option, even though they have a restaurant on property No awning for loading car in the rain Hot water in shower can only be obtained on the hottest setting, not allowing for hotter water after acclamating Never found the ice machine so we assume there is no ice
Suggestion going forward....It was apparent the staff is not educated on Bourbon experiences & distilleries. Bourbon is what brings many guest to your area and those visiting for the first time will...
Read moreRecently reserved two rooms for family to stay here when attending a nearby wedding. The hotel is beautiful and well decorated. The staff was very kind and tried to accommodate as best they could. I feel in the future, once they have addressed their first few months of opening issues, they could be a wonderful choice to stay when visiting the Versailles/Lexington area. Current cons: had left messages after making reservation online and never received a call back. I was able to reach the desk a few days prior to guests arriving to discuss my making the reservation for family coming to stay. Elevator isn’t working - family is in their 80’s and were given rooms on third floor. no snacks to purchase or breakfast/lunch to purchase. one of the two rooms assigned had zero windows. no hooks on back of doors to hang towels or other items. had to contact maintenance to repair toilet handle which was not working properly. The hotel has lots of character and charm. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Truly the biggest items to address and communicate to future guests needs to be no working elevator and no other food options in the hotel...
