EDIT AFTER PAM'S REPLY: Good to know your many efforts and I know it's a constant, never ending to-do list. I just don't think Sadie should be in the kitchen nor dining room when people are eating, period. Not sanitary. The whole place looks old and tired & the website pictures have to be super old as nothing looks like the online pictures. Definitely needs a remodel/refresh and it appears that Pam needs help, other than just a cleaning crew. It needs pressuring washing, landscaping, tree trimming. I would give a 2.5 if that were an option. EXPERIENCE: The next morning, we go outside to walk to the main house/breakfast, and the dog, Sadie (a Golden Doodle I think), is barking in the parking lot. It was about 8:45 so I commented to my husband that I hoped no one was trying to sleep late (the doors are on the outside like a motel). So we go in to breakfast and sit in one of the booths. Sadie is right in the dining room pestering a single male guest. Then after we get seated, Sadie comes over to me and tries to get me to take her slobbery tennis ball and I donât so she drops it on my bench. There are a couple more couples and two older ladies. Pam is in the kitchen and she serves each couple/guest individually as they come in so it takes a little bit to get our food. I couldnât find any hot water to make tea so we just had to sit there until she came in; about 4-5 mintues. Sadie kept going from table to table begging for food. Now keep in mind that this dog is kind of tall and when she puts her paws on the table (yes she did), her head is at the same height as the guests. The single guy ate fast and left. The two older ladies were about to have a conniption. One young lady loved Sadie & took a selfie with her on her bench seat. When Pam came in to serve more food and then sat down to chat with everyone, the ladies tried to diplomatically point out that Sadie was jumping on the table trying to eat peopleâs food and/or begging for food. She basically called Sadie âRottenâ and joked that she had spent $3,500 on training school to no avail and that she herself had lost the Alpha Dog fight because she gave in to âRottenâ. Then something super weird happened: Sadie got in Pamâs face (again she was seated but Sadie was at face height) growling. I could see from my bench seat and thought the dog was going to chew her face off! It scared me and I am not afraid of dogs, not even growling ones. But this was a snarling lunge, like something set her off. Then Pam made jokes, trying to fluff it off, and Sadie backed off. But not cool â what if she had bitten her? Or one of the guests? Again â I hate to write this, however it is important that folks know that this happens, particularly if you are not a dog nor animal lover. And even if you are, no one wants other peoples pets trying to beg food â not paying ones anyway. Then the ladies left but then came right back and pointed out that Sadie was leaning on the kitchen counter eating everyoneâs leftovers and Pam just shrugged, like âwhat can I do?â The Good Points: 1)Pam is nice 2) our Cottage room was very clean/large & the porch area was cute looking out over the meadow (if she cut the greenery off the fence so that you could see from sitting in the chairs) and had tons of towels 3)the AC blew really strongly & cold 4)the sheets were soft 5)the bed was comfy except the light metal frame squeaked when you moved 6)liked the pork tenderloin with potatoes (cooked in the crockpot) and bread. We paid $345 per night which is pretty pricey considering the area (not the greatest) and the not new/fresh state of the Inn. Honestly, worth about $199 per night. In no way is it worth $345. It must have fetched that price due to leaf season and the Louisville convention with thousands of attendees. If you donât mind older furnishings/style, and donât mind eating with a large moody dog, then this place would work. Otherwise, I think I would pass. (I ran out of space so I couldn't post the...

Read moreWe first stayed at the Mongomery Inn in 2015, and were delighted to return in 2022! Pam is a wonderful hostess! She is the perfect balance of laid back and attentive. She has fun stories to share and can chat about almost any topic, while at the same time, gives guests space and freedom to enjoy their stays in their own ways. ||||Sadie, the gentle and friendly goldendoodle, is a welcome addition since our previous visit. She greeted us at check-in, and gives the inn a fun, homey feel. ||||The rooms we stayed in both times were quiet, spacious and had everything we want when traveling. We like rooms with a lot of lighting, sitting chairs, and a lot of surfaces to put things on, The rooms have all of that: ||||- They are well-lit with options for overhead lights, a variety of lamps, brightly lit bathrooms, and natural light. We didn't struggle to have enough light, like we do in hotel rooms. ||||- The sitting areas are awesome, and the televisions have complimentary Hulu and Netflix, or you can stream using your own service or cast from a mobile device. We didn't struggle for a place to sit and visit comfortably in our room with another couple whom we traveled with, like we do in hotel rooms. ||||- There are a variety of tables and shelves on which to put things to organize the room and settle right it. We didn't struggle to keep our belongings off the floor, like we do in hotel rooms. ||||Breakfast is efficient, creative and varies each day - the best we've had and any inn! Coffee is avaialble early and there are a lot of other beverage selections.||||By nature, people who stay at inns are low-maintenance guests. If not, they should be! We don't need fresh towels every day, don't need our room made up every day, and do everything we can to not be a bother or burden to the hostess. We joke that all we need are the three T's: "Towels" - a couple for a week will do, "TP" - plenty of rolls, and "TrasH" - emptied regularly or a bin available for us to take it out ourselves and fresh trash bags. That's part of the charm of staying at an inn - it's like home. ||||All inns have their quirks and flaws. If you are going to nit-pick everything - a loose toilet seat, a burned-out light bulb, cracked or missing tiles, drips of paint, etc., don't stay here. But you will miss out on a great experience! ||||Our only complaint is that the beds aren't very comfortable. The bedding itself is great, but an investment in quality mattresses would be a welcome improvement in the future. || ||We will always stay with Pam when we visit the Lexington area or going anywhere 30-40 minutes from Versailles. If you want a departure from the mundane, tired, stale hotels, we hightly recommend the...
