I can honestly say this is probably one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, so buckle up. I checked in late last night after a long day of traveling, just ready to catch some sleep before hitting the road again the next morning. After checking in, I used the only luggage cart available which also seemed to have a flat/broken tire. The entry into the hotel has stairs right as you enter, so you have to wheel your things down a long ramp into the side of the hotel. As I’m attempting to get my luggage cart into the building, I’m obviously struggling with the janky luggage cart while also trying to keep ahold of my toddler. The front desk girl looks up to see what all the commotion is about and just proceeds to watch me struggle through the 10 minute ordeal. I finally make it up to my room, unload my bags, get my toddler settled, and start to unpack some things to get ready for bed. I go into the bathroom to find a huge clump of hair pushed under the vanity, hair on the soap dish and all over the floor, bobby pins on the vanity, and just general uncleanliness. It’s nearing midnight and at this point I’m too exhausted to say anything to the girl at the front desk. So I climb into bed and try to forget about the state of the bathroom. I wake up in the morning to a piece of tape with hair and other bits stuck to it attached from me to the comforter. When I checked the bed the night prior, there were some flecks of debris underneath the covers but again, I tried to let it go. But the tape was the final straw for me. And then I noticed my toddlers feet were practically black on the bottom from walking around the room barefoot when putting their sandals on the next morning. Which made sense considering his grimy it felt under my own feet. It was as if the maids walked in, remade the beds, refolded the towels, replaced some Ken’s and left. Clearly no actually cleaning took place. I get packed up to check out and stop by the front desk to let the morning receptionist know I’m checking out. I mention the state the room was in when I checked in and even offered to share photos with her. She seemed very confused, like she didn’t know what I expected to happen. As if I should just get over the room being in the state it was in. She hesitated before saying anything, and when she finally responded she said “I guess I can tell my manager and she might be willing to discount the room..?”. When I asked if she wanted the photos, she again hesitated before saying “sure”. Then she let me know her manager might call me today if she decided to discount the room. No call happened, so clearly no one cares. If you want a clean room, just stick to the Holiday Inn because you won’t find that here.

If I could give it 1/2 Star I would. My family and I came in when it was a bad thunderstorm. The front desk person was nowhere to be found until another customer said she was sitting in the dining room. She was unresponsive and very inconvenienced that we needed to check in. There was no valet cart to use to assist the unloading process of our car which you will need to do due since you can’t leave ANYTHING in your car due to the location. I asked the front desk lady if they had carts and she pointed to a fabric wagon/cart thing someone would use to haul stuff to your kids t-ball game. I had to ask twice if I can borrow it as she did not willingly offer it and seemed very reluctant to give it to us. I asked if there was a better way to unload the car given it was up a flight of stairs and pouring down rain. She just stared at me. My husband and I had to come up with our own game plan which included him backing down a VERY narrow loading dock that was on a VERY steep wet ramp since that was the only way we could use the kiddy wagon/cart. How do they expect someone with luggage who is unable to carry it down the first flight of stairs? While I was waiting for my husband to back down the ramp a super sketchy guy ran down the ramp (slipped and fell pretty hard), saw me standing at the door and ran back up the ramp back into the car that dropped him off. Based on the statistics of Vicksburg I’d say he was up to no good. We had to use the “buddy system” to park our car in the parking structure across the street which was not lit. Lighting is as basic as you can get for a parking structure in a crime area. After 15 mins of my family wrestling all of our belongings onto our floor, we were greeted by a random bug killer chemical smell, both our room doors wouldn’t shut and had to be kicked to shut all the way with our luggage pushed in front of the door for additional security. Not a real safe feeling. Want to brush your teeth and take a shower? Well you better not unless you don’t mind mud/sand in your water. My advice, don’t use the water! We decided to leave at first light and had decided to not eat the breakfast that we were counting on (which was a huge reason why we booked there) due to the major incompetence of our experience thus far. Not to any of our shock there was no breakfast as advertised nor was there an employee in sight. My advice, keep on driving.

Absolutely Disgusting & Dangerous – Stay Away! Our recent stay at the Wyndham Mulberry property in Vicksburg, MS was an absolute nightmare. We specifically chose this hotel to let our kids enjoy the pool during a short stopover — but what we found was shocking. The pool was filthy, visibly full of algae, and had a strong fishy odor that made it impossible to ignore. Even worse, there was a pool vacuum submerged in the water while still plugged in — a blatant electrical hazard that put our children at serious risk of electrocution. This level of negligence is absolutely unacceptable. To top it off, the pool chairs were covered in mold, showing clear signs that the area hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in ages. The entire pool area was a breeding ground for bacteria and a major health and safety violation. It’s clear that management has no regard for guest well-being. This experience was not only disappointing — it was dangerous. Wyndham should be ashamed to have its name attached to this property. I’ve filed a formal complaint with corporate requesting the return of the 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points I wasted on this nightmare stay. If this isn’t resolved soon, I fully intend to report this to the local health department. Until Wyndham takes action, I strongly urge others to avoid this location entirely. You and your family deserve better — and most importantly, you deserve to feel safe. The service here is non-existent, front desk doesn't care, they dont answer the phone, they are nowhere to be found. To its only defense/credit, the room was okayish, recently renovated but by no means justify the pool experience.

I booked a two-night stay over a weekend with a large group, and I secured two rooms for my family. Upon arriving at the hotel, the entry way and lobby were nice and inviting. I wish I could say the same for the staff (manager) at the front desk. We found out that our two rooms were not joining, which was OK at first but then found that they weren’t even on the same floor together. We decided to go see the rooms and decide if we wanted to change rooms before deciding. After seeing the location of the room where my child was going to stay (away from parents), we decided to request a change to, at least be on the same floor. This is where the manager had a poor attitude and told me that she would see what she could do since they had some walk-ins and may not have any available. It had only been about 30 minutes since we arrived and only 20 minutes after the check in time, per policy. She mumbled rudely, under her breath to the other guest service providers behind the counter as she arranged the rooms for us. We were spaced about 10 rooms apart but was fine with that. Even though the adjoining room next to ours was vacant the entire stay.

The hotel is pet friendly... which included a dog that barked loudly every time a door was closed or someone walks by its door. We had to walk by it to our second room several times a day.

The rooms were nice upon first glance but were not great. The bathtub leaked the entire time and the tub stopper did not work at all. The shower did work after needing to fiddle with the shower diverter to activate the shower. The lack of movie and TV channels was not a deal breaker but unexpected. There was no microwave in the room, however there was a small fridge. There was only a see-through shade on the large window but no room darkening drapes. You could make out objects while looking through the shade and it only blocked about 15 percent light. This does not make one feel as if there is any privacy. Upon leaving the room after unloading, I noticed that the door did not latch unless you slammed it closed and there was NO security lock on our door. We stayed at a Holiday Inn the night before and the room and service was WAY better! There is a kitchen where some grill type food can be ordered, however, there is NO breakfast! For the price of the rooms, there should at least be a muffin or cereal bar. The parking garage was a hangout for unsavory people during the day...who knows what happened after dark. I saw people pull into a few spaces and begin to barbecue in the parking garage. Several others drink and throw their beer bottles off the side to land on the sidewalk. There is NO security at all.

Now for the good points... the river view was nice, the pool was clean and the lobby had a pool table area.

As you can see the lasting impression of the bad experience overshadowed the good, greatly. The hotel is advertised as having 24-hour service, however when we checked out, there was a sign advising the staff would not be available until 7am (an hour later). We were forced to leave our room cards and a note on the desk since I was not waiting an hour to check out.

I will not select this hotel, or even this area to stay at again. Hopefully this is not common practice, because it needs to...

As we are considering another 4th of July in Vicksburg, I realized I never wrote our review of 4th of July at The Mulberry. Advertised was a pool party with pool games, cabana rentals,a DJ, food and drinks. |We paid $174 for a night. Definitely not worth that price. |The cabanas are just cement blocks with a couple chairs. honestly, not worth the money unless you just have it to spend with little expectations. Don’t expect a cabana like on the coast or at a water park. Most of the small fans weren’t working, they face the sun in the evening offering little shade. |The Dj was a guy playing an acoustic guitar but he had a nice voice. |There was 0 4th of july decor and no evidence of a party at all. |The pool side food was not what we expected. . An additional cost, over priced hot dog or burger with a bag of chips. Just packets of Mayo, mustard and ketchup. This is not included with the $10 cover charge. The indoor cafe has a menu but they were out of most items so we walked elsewhere for lunch. They did have snow cones which were good. |They did have Cold beer and canned cocktails and they did have a limited bar but again, very overpriced. |No pool games but the pool area is very nice and offers an excellent view of the fireworks. |The hotel itself is nice but it’s very hard to find any staff members or get anyone to answer if you call down about an issue. Beautiful lobby and art museum, free parking garage across the street with plenty of parking. The rooms are nice but views of the river are obstructed by not so pretty scenery. we booked a double room but they only had a room with one bed when we got there. we made a pallet for the kiddos and they had no complaints. We spent most of our time out of the room so that wasn't a big deal for us. they dont offer any breakfast and with a VERY limited selection at the cafe both nights, we would plan to eat somewhere else or bring snacks if we went again, unless they have managed to pull that together. other reviews say they have not. so, i dont know. If you are just planning on taking the kiddos for a night to watch fireworks and swim, thats what its good for. This place has so much potential, especially for 4th of july and other events. How about decorations or maybe the proper fixings for burgers, updated & welcoming Cabanas, a livelier DJ or music. Attentive staff rather than the owner and staff outside drinking would also be nice!||its a maybe...
