Upon arriving, I was told that I was unable to book one hotel room for myself, my senior parents and my three young children. That it exceeded the maximum capacity of a room, which I was told was posted on a piece of paper that the GM referenced on the desk that I didn’t look at in the moment, as I was headed out the door to go to my room. I looked the next day and the piece of paper said nothing about room capacity. In the moment, I obliged and booked two separate rooms, but in retrospect, I feel like I got scammed. What is the max capacity for a room? By the logic he explained, if it were my husband, myself and our three young children traveling together (as it often is. We ALWAYS stay at choice hotels), we would always have to book two hotel rooms. For THAT reason, I feel like I got scammed. However, it was just continuous small things and issues from then on. We were given rooms at the other end of the building. Recently, the area received a large amount of snow. The parking lot was drivable, but there was no clear access to the entryway of the building from the parking lot. The sidewalk in front of the door was clear, however, I had to step numerous times through a snow bank deeper than my ankle to get from my car to my room bringing my luggage in. Was I parked in the right spot? I have no idea, because the lines were covered in snow. The rooms were ok. In need of some love, but for the rate we paid (for ONE room, not two) it was as expected. However, there were no convenient or extra outlets for charging electronics. You can have a lamp and a clock or a lamp and your cell phone charging or some combination, but you will not have all three, as there was only one outlet available near the bed. Since I wanted to have the lamp next to the bed readily available, I opted to use the outlet across the room by the tv to charge my device. Looking behind the entertainment center, I noticed what looked like a chewing tobacco container and lid behind it. Aside from having to pay for two rooms, I could have forgiven all of these things for the price we paid for one room. However, walking through the snowbank multiple times was pretty unappealing. The next morning, we headed down to the hot breakfast, which I was told was available from 6-9. Now, we DID arrive at 8:45, so I did not expect things to be full as if we had arrived at 6:15. However, everything was cleaned up. Everything had been removed and cleaned as if it were over. I have arrived shortly before the end of breakfast at MANY Choice hotels, and while things might not be available/stocked if I had understandably been there earlier, it was NEVER closed before the appointed time. When the clerk/breakfast attendant saw us arrive, she brought the sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy back to a table so we could have some, which was nice of her. She could have told us no. The only thing I really care to have at a breakfast is waffles, which are usually available even arriving 15 minute before it ends, but they weren’t. I wasn’t mad that I couldn’t have a waffle, however, at every other Choice hotel I’ve ever stayed at, I’ve always been able to get a waffle, even arriving 15 minutes before the breakfast ended. My daughters asked for juice. The juice dispenser was shut off. I asked the clerk/attendant if we could get some and she came in and nicely turned it back on for us. However, she then took off the drip tray, so we didn’t dirty what she just cleaned and then she stood there and watched us as we got our cups of juice. Again, it was nice that she enabled us to get our juice, but it was also freaking awkward that she stood there watching us. We ate. Shortly before we finished, she turned off the lights in the room, however, not the ones above us. Again, not a huge deal, not terrible… just… tacky. However, the thing that sealed it for me was the cockroach that scurried across the floor in my room and the deodorant guard that comes on a new bottle of deodorant right next to the bed.

There is nothing quality about this Quality Inn. It is old, broken and poorly maintained. The toilet seat in our room fell right off upon trying to lift it up. At least one of the artworks from the room was just missing. Upon opening the closet we noted that there was someone else’s dirty towel and a belt hanging there. The washcloths are, dingy and yellow and all of the bathroom linen is obviously old. The coffee and coffee cups completely ran out during breakfast and there was no clear plan to get more coffee going. Both clerks were sitting at the front desk playing with their phones and neither showed any sense of urgency about refilling the coffee and the one that finally did move, just had a generally poor attitude. All in all , a lousy hotel experience.

Stayed here while visiting for work. It was a nice stay. Room was clean. I love that it is a non smoking site, the rooms smelled nice. Two double beds were comfortable, room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was a tight fit, but that allows for more free space in the room. All electronics worked as it should. Plenty of restaurants near by. Burger King, Penn Station, and Olive Garden within walking distance. The complementary breakfast was really pretty good. Would stay here again. Only reason for 4 stars instead of five was I heard housekeeping complaining about having to hurry and clean our room since I had asked to change the room to the first floor, and that we could hear people in neighboring rooms.

I looked the next day and the piece of paper said nothing about room capacity. In the moment, I obliged and booked two separate rooms, but in retrospect, I feel like I got scammed. What is the max capacity for a room? My youngest sleeps in a portable crib and my two oldest children and I sleep in one full sized bed. I’m just not sure of what the policy is and it wasn’t posted anywhere, despite what the clerk said.

Since I wanted to have the lamp next to the bed readily available, I opted to use the outlet across the room by the tv to charge my device. Looking behind the entertainment center, I noticed what looked like a chewing tobacco container and lid behind it.

The microwave was extremely old (not digital) and very dirty. I used it to warm up milk for my youngest daughter. It was gross.

There were no tissues in my parents room and the toilet was dirty.

The ceiling in our bathroom looked as if there had previously been a leak/mold.

We cleaned up after ourselves as we usually would, but took the time to wipe and clean the table because God forbid we dirty this woman’s room after she cleaned it (I get it. I’ve worked in customer service for years. But dang…)

We walked back to our room. This hotel has a particularly LONG hallway. Freakishly long. In fact, my dad and I joked on our way back to the room that it was a 5 and a half minute hallway. It’s just oddly long. Anyway, in the time it took us to walk to the lobby, eat and walk back, BOTH of our room keys stopped working.

It’s happened to me before. Sometimes it just does, but it was odd and unbelievable that both rooms stopped working. Not a huge deal, but annoying considering all the other small things that had happened. I walked back down the 5 and a half minute hallway to get the keys reprogrammed and back down again.

On top of it all, we specifically booked THIS hotel, driving off our route between Michigan and North Carolina, so my children could enjoy the indoor pool offered. Now, the pump was frozen due to the exceptional weather that the area received. I wouldn’t fault this hotel for something like this, as it was exceptional circumstances. However, it did really disappoint us as we stayed specifically for that and were unable to enjoy it.

However, the thing that sealed it for me was the cockroach that scurried across the floor in my room and the deodorant guard that comes on a new bottle of deodorant right next to the bed.

Not to mention no dirty laundry bags available in either room and the cleaning lady asking if she could clean our rooms before we had even vacated them.

This is a long and extremely specific list. I would never be so petty at an $84 per night room… EXCEPT… I have stayed in MANY $84 dollar Choice Hotel rooms before, as I said, we ALWAYS choose Choice Hotels for our stays because of the great value and exceptional stays we have there. If this was any run of the mill hotel, I wouldn’t take the time to complain.

But Choice Hotels have set a bar, an expectation for service, cleanliness, and value and this particular location falls FAR below that level I’ve come to know and enjoy from Choice Hotels. This hotel should NOT be a part of Choice Hotel offerings unless it gets it’s act together and starts offering half the value, service and care that I get from 90% of the other Choice Hotels I’ve ever stayed at.

I didn’t say anything to either of the employees I interacted with at the time because I honestly just don’t think they cared. One was the GM and one was the clerk/breakfast attendant. I can’t believe that GM cared about the max capacity of a room for fire codes when he can’t even care enough if the microwave is clean or if there are roaches in his hotel.

The best part of being at this hotel...

Let me start with saying that this is not my first stay there and not my first disappointing experience definitely the worst stay tho….so please don’t bother with the ā€œsecond chance responseā€. This was the second chance at this specific hotel and there will def not be a third!

We reserved the ā€œExecutive Suiteā€, or so we were led to believe based on some umm ā€œcreative advertisingā€ and possible ā€œalternative factsā€! Unfortunately, immediately Upon arrival, we realized that our room looked nothing like the photos led us to believe that it would! However we weren’t trying to complain and we just wanted to get settled, let the grandkids (9,9, & 14) and our son (10) take a quick dip to unwind before bed and allow us adults (myself and husband and my son-in-law) visit for a few before he was going to take my son withhim and his children back to his house and allow my hus band and myself a much needed night alone on what is a difficult day for myself personally. This trip was made to celebrate my granddaughters 14th birthday but she shares a birthday with her mother who unfortunately passed away a few years ago. So, needless to say, it tends to be a bittersweet, emotional day for us all.

The kids did get to swim, they were only down there for literally 22min (9p - 9:22p) then came back up to change to leave. During this time my husband attempted to watch tv and relax as he worked all day and then drove hours to get us here. Well unfortunately the television and all the advertised channels which were supposed to include HBO, was nothing but snow. No digital or analog channels worked! Off to the front desk, a gentlemen came to room, showed husband how to scan for channels šŸ™„ then left before the scan could complete but not before questioning us about whether the children were staying in our room.

Channel scan was a waste of time and the children left and I informed husband that there was no digital cable in the room and how I knew (digital cable never has snow). Then we realized that our room. a.c. was also not working and it was uncomfortably warm! By now it’s 11pm, we have no tv, no air conditioning and we’re getting ā€œhangryā€.

Again we go to front desk!

There was no ā€œI’m really sorryā€ or ā€œlet me try to resolve thisā€ or anything one would expect (AND DESERVE) from a business that charged $176 for a room that was misleading to point of disappointment, has no TV and a busted AC! No offer for one of the other ā€œsuitesā€ that the according to website there were 3 more available. Nope! He seemed to have a completely blasĆ© attitude about the entire situation. Even had the audacity to seem annoyed with our annoyance!! Only after he noticed my husbands frustration did he rudely say ā€œYou want a refund?ā€

Yes, now we do! we begin to pack and search for another hotel while waiting for refund only to find out that said ā€œrefundā€ won’t be available for 4 freaking days due to holiday!

Now we’re more perturbed but husband is still just trying to work something out and will accept another room as long as it at least has working AC! In response to husbands frustration, he adds insult to injury and threatens to not even give us a room at ALL! 😱 😤

Husband tries reasoning with him and asks for the room until we make arrangements in the morning. Do you think that he offered to discount the room which really would have been the least he could do, NO! He moved us to a standard room, quoted us full price $100 (as of right now I’m still out the original $586 so idk exactly) then he tried to ask if we could at least pay cash to let the kids come swim in morning but got no response.

So as I write this review, I sit here in my $586 standard room, looking VERY forward to my 3pm check in at the Holiday Inn and my much anticipated soak in the jacuzzi tub that I’ve now...
