Value City Furniture — Local services in Parkersburg

Bought a lamp they said will be ready for pickup. Once we got there we had to talk to 3 different people because they did not know you could pick that item up on the day we received a call saying it was ready. After backing up in a bunch of snow at their back entrance (literally I could have shoveled it up in 10 minutes but it was trash everywhere and snow piled in front of their door that was easily removeable), we were expecting for them to put the lamp already put together since all of their other furniture are picked up put together, but no, it's in a poorly wrapped box, and they toss the box into the trunk. Get home annoyed but ready to construct it and it doesn't even come with the lightbulbs, you have to buy those separately. Would've been nice for them to tell us that, but they didn't. Also, they packaged it with styrofoam, paper, and plastic. The instructions did not explain what any of the pieces were, just showed an image of how to put them together, and said keep away from styrofoam, paper, and plastic; because it could cause a fire. They stuffed small pieces of paper inside the tubes and bulb sockets but the instructions did not say where everything was. It said to look for the wrappings. The service was terrible, the cleanliness was terrible, the attitudes of the employees were terrible, the product was terribly wrapped/"secured" in a box, not all of the equipment was there, and there was so much paper and styrofoam that was glued to the items, that I had to peel tiny pieces off of everything to make sure it was...

I never post anything about stores, small business ect, because I understand things happen. This I feel is on a different level.

We came in and chose a mattress for our home in late March we bought it out right. There were manufacturer faulties. (The springs were broken in the middle of the mattress)

I called and asked if we could exchange it, value city said yes you can, you have the sleep night guarantee. That was that. I got out trailer together put the mattress on it and headed to value city (mind you I'm a little over an hour away) when I arrived they told us that the person on the phone should have told us they need to come inspect the mattress before it can be returned. I said okay what are our options? They said they would let us exchange it this one time.

We went and picked out a bed and they said it wouldn't be in until April 15. Okay that's fine, we needed a bed. April 14th rolls around and I get a phone call stating that out mattress wouldn't arrive until May 4rth now. We told them that we wanted a refund. After buying a $600 mattress, trying to do an exchange and then for them to tell us that they don't do refunds just store credit. Okay, whatever we'll wait until May 4rth. Today rolls around and we are told it's not going to be here until June now!!! We had to call in to see if it was ready to pick up today, we did not get a phone call! My wife and I recently purchased bunk beds from Value City Furniture in Parkersburg, WV. We were very impressed with the sales staff, specifically Karissa, who was very knowledgeable about all of the products that we were interested in. She explained very well the different options/configurations that were available in the bunk beds (trumble vs drawers and ladder versus stairs) that we were looking at. She also was very helpful in picking out a mattress. She made the process of purchasing very simple. She explained the optional warranty that we elected to purchase. One of the selling points is that if the warranty is not needed by the end of the time period, the value of the warranty is able to be converted to store credit which my wife and I thought was a nice selling point. Overall, our experience was very positive. We came to the store expecting to just gather information to help us eventually make our purchase in a few weeks. Karissa was so knowledgeable and helpful that we felt confident enough to make our purchase today, and we’re very glad we did. Karissa was very honest and we valued her recommendations. She made us feel good about the purchases we made. We recommend Value City Furniture in Parkersburg to anyone in the market for new furniture.
