Had stayed here once before, a year ago, pre-covid. This time, we were told the hotel was almost full, yet the parking lot was almost empty and we saw almost no other guests. This is important because our room's toilet wouldn't flush, but we were told there were no rooms we could move to. We were too tired to find another hotel, so we put up with it for the night. We were staying one more night, and were told the toilet would be taken care of while we were out during the day. It wasn't but, again, by the time we found out we were too tired to find another place. The girl on the desk called the manager at home for instructions; during the call, we overheard her say something to the effect of we were Blue members, not Diamond (why would that matter, unless there was a solution for a broken toilet available to Diamond members that was not available to us?). The best we were offered was a 50% rate reduction for that night. Once again, we put up with it; luckily, there were no "intestinal emergencies" that would have spelled a disaster. When we checked out, the manager had apparently given it some thought and now gave us a full refund for the 2nd night.
A couple of additional observations: 1) While we were there, the pile of trash at the garbage can next to our floor's elevator door kept growing (the same pizza carton was present throughout). 2) Both nights, the girl at the desk was apparently entertaining a couple of friends, who were seated in lobby chairs next to and turned toward the desk.
We realize we're still in a pandemic, so I'm not complaining about there being no maid service (although, if the hotel truly was fully occupied...?). It was also entirely expected and understandable that the breakfast area was closed. But, a broken toilet? Was it even legal to allow us to stay in that room, even for free? Maybe we should have walked out, regardless, but I'm still wondering about the "Diamond member" comment.
In the year between our two visits there was apparently a change in management, and we were not favorably impressed by the new folks. We were visiting family and plan to frequently return to the area, but will have to find a new...
Read moreThis had to be the most disgusting hotel experience of my life!! We are from out of state so we blindly reserved our room, boy was that a lesson learned!
The good reviews on this particular hotel has to be generated by the people who stand to benefit from them. There is no way any of them are legit.
Pulling up to the hotel there was very limited parking due to most of the parking lot being taped off.
The moment I stepped out of the car I realize I’m stepping on a bunch of glass (as if someone’s car window was busted) in or near that spot at an earlier time.
Still we go in. The guy at the front desk seemed nice but completely oblivious to the conditions of the hotel (which can be seen from the parking lot).
Upon walking into our room there was an overwhelming smell of either vomit or feces. I walked in and immediately had to walk out. The smell was so strong opening the window didn’t even help!
My husband called the front desk. The front desk person comes up to the room to verify the smell. He immediately comes out of the room, apologizes and puts us in a room.
He told us the room had just been cleaned. We reluctantly go to the second room and again was hit with a strong odor (this time, like urine).
At this point I was done! My husband asked for a refund considering we only took 2 steps in each room, hadn’t touched or disturbed anything and YUP…NO REFUND! So we’re out almost $200.00 and have to find and pay for somewhere else to stay!
Please DO NOT fall for the good reviews!! That mistake costed us almost $200.00!!
We are currently staying at the Holiday Inn (at 7701 Washington Village Dr.). It’s CLEAN, the people are super nice, it has a nice working pool and hot tub, gym and FREE continental breakfast. You will pay a little more but you get much more for your money (our room even has its own washer and dryer in it).
I rarely (if ever) leave negative reviews but after this experience I had to make...
Read moreLet me start by saying my family and I are very low maintenance and easy to please when it comes to hotel accommodations. We realize that this is not our home and everything will not be to our liking. That being said, this is the most disappointing hotel we have ever stayed in. Don't stay here, drive to the south Best Western. Here is a list of our current issues:
They advertise a pool but you can't use it. Loved telling the kids that bad news. There is intermittently no hot water. We have an infant and need hot water for bottles. Not to mention we don't enjoy cold showers. Our TV volume is stuck at 21. 21! It is so loud in here that we cannot watch the television. As we have an infant we cannot have it on at all because she cannot sleep with it being so loud. The power flickers on and off during the day which is a bit disconcerting if you want to use the elevator. When we went down to get breakfast this morning there were no hot breakfast items left (they had bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs) and had run out of waffle mix. The food lady kept saying more was coming but it didn't. Uncomfortably it appears that the chain lock on our door was busted off, a new one was never put back on and we had to ask the lobby for a do not disturb sign where they questioned us as to why we would not need service. Our bathroom door does not close. Signs petty but when your husband wants privacy from all his daughters, it would bother me too.
All these things individually would sound silly, perhaps, but when you add them up it's too much. The good news is we leave in the morning but it's frustrating to spend money anywhere and not get what you paid for. We frequent Dayton a lot and have stayed other places. We thought this place would be just as good, turns out we were wrong.
We would not reccomend this hotel at all. Management...
