Pancake House DOES NOT wanr you to see this. They eraswd a few sentences, make me type in slow motion, and took away my keyboard autocorrect. You can thank them for the various spelling errors. Worst breakfast place I've been to besides Bob Evans. A few weeks ago, me and my friend went there at around 10:30 AM. Unfortunately, we had to wait for a bit which I have no issues with. Must make it an outstanding breakfast place, right? Wrong. Upon meeting our waitress, she was slightly decent in presentation at best. The menu was relatively dirty and I detected a smidge of food. Okay, not an ideal way to begin this experience. Now, I'm not one who needs to be in a luxurious restaurant everytime I go out. However, Pancake House is an excuse of an "enhanced" cafeteria. Lack of space and florescent lighting to harm my eyes. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with plain house potatoes. I specifically ordered them plain for financial purposes. Also, I ordered chocolate milk for a drink. The waitress failed to specify whether I wanted a small or large. She automatically handed me a large because it costs more. Also, the waitress had the NERVE to ask me if i wanted ketchup. At first, I said no thank you. She then gently persuaded me to say yes. I caved in since it ended up sounding like a marvellous plan afterall. Never got my ketchup. I'm not upset i didn't get my ketchup, I'm irritated she asjed me, i finally said yes and then she failed to comply. I could've been snooty about it, but didnt say a word. Pancakes were overwhelmingly drownes in whipped cream and melted. A stomach ache was brewing. According to my calculations, I would be spending $11. Ended up spending $17!! Was not anticipating that. I went there to save money in the first place. Only agreed to go there because Bluberry Cafe was closed. Pressured me to give a tip via...
Read moreThe Original Pancake House and the owner Peter are a disaster all around. My son and I went there for breakfast. We ordered pancakes and eggs. After waiting for more than 40 minutes and watching people seated after us get their food, when we inquired about our order, we were told that they were out of eggs. So I requested that we be served the pancakes as my 6 year old was getting extremely hungry. Before I could finish the sentence, the server threw her hands in the air, muttered "the kitchen is out of eggs" and walked away. At this point, I asked for the manager, who apparently was briefed on the situation by the server. Before I could even say a word, he started accusing me of being rude to the server and if I wanted the pancakes first, I should have requested at the time of placing the order. At that point I said, " I have no way of knowing that your kitchen is out of eggs". To which he replied, "We are not McDonald" and all kinds of things that had nothing to do with the situation but everything to do with winning the argument at any cost. Not the least of his concerns were my 6 year old boy looking up at his white face turning to (cinnamon)red and new patrons in the restaurant waiting to be seated behind us.But he could care less. It was too much to bear and as my 6 year old and I left without an apology or breakfast, the owner asked us never to return as if we would. We were happy to give our business to Bob Evans. It appears that being rude to customers is a recurring theme (as is evident from the other reviews) at this Dayton Original Pancake House location. If you want insult served as part of your breakfast, this is your place. For eggs and pancakes, Dayton has...
Read moreI'm not from Dayton and wanted to try a local brunch place. A gentleman took a phone order kindly and went to the restaurant about 40min later to pick up the order. Went cashier, and I had to initiate the conversation which was fine. I said I'm here to pick up the order, and she goes, "for..?" instead of saying can I have your name and such. I paid with a card, and she asked if I want a receipt, I said no, and she goes "ok...?" I was hoping to hear something like "someone is going to bring the food out here" and such, but no instruction was given. She was ready to take the next customer's bill behind me. I had to ask because I was standing awkwardly not knowing if the food is ready or not.
She finally brought the food and I came back to my hotel room. They got the all food right, but there are no utensils and no napkins. I ordered scrambled eggs, and it was leaking from the white to-go box. If this was my home, that wouldn't be a problem, but I had to go down to the hotel lobby and get some utensils and napkins.
I could tell that they don't do much take-out service. Food contains potential water or liquid they should put them in foil before putting in to-go box.
Don't get me wrong, food was great. I got a strawberry pancake and it was great, if I'm coming back again to town, I might try dine-in, but not take out.
Overall, it was pretty crowded around 11 am, there were 6 people waiting to be seated. I think they have enough parking space though. The pancake was good, but just a little lack of professionalism in...
