Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Waterloo — Hotel in Waterloo

Have stayed at this place over the years and have seen it continuously decline though it gets refreshed, the finishing touches aren't getting done. Had problems checking in, neither front desk gals were very accommodating of online prices and while I waited several people came in trying to find "their people '. The staff gave them room numbers, even though these visitors didn't know the name of the people they were attempting to visiting at the hotel. Seems like a bad policy , made me feel uncomfortable. Apparently they were aware of some (noisy) parties taking place during my stay, with many people roaming and unpleasant smell of smoke a few times. I hope the room the one party was in was a smoking room as the pot smell in the hall way was obvious. The staff wasn't able to print me out a receipt when I finally checked in online using an app to get a better price. Breakfast was well stocked and the area clean and the variety of food was impressive. I would give the breakfast and breakfast staff 5 stars. Saw a variety of the multiple party room people at breakfast, I wondered how many people per room or how many outside guests can eat here without the otherwise picky front desk people taking any care over breakfast eaters at all. The breakfast area clean, however was not designed to hold the crowd these rooms can hold. So if you arrive late to breakfast you may plan to take food back to your room. Ice water and cups was out all the time. This is a handy location, close to much, including fast food, mall and other shopping. One could walk to a variety of places if you simply want to park the car, unload and not get back in the car again. Easy access in and out. Adequate parking. Rooms are spacious, updated, but again not detailed. Ok value, but it is worth while to not book at the front desk. Front desk was $20 higher than online. Update, handles on dresser were so cruddy I went to watch my hands afterward. I think not cleanable, just tarnished. Tub / shower needs plunged as water went down so slowly one soon ended up having a quite a bit of water at the bottom, so after the last disappointments here, I don't plan to stay here again but instead one of the multiple hotels very close by, even within walking distance. Though I have stayed here for decades when traveling to Waterloo, I will take this place off my search next time I come to the area.

Update It is 9:11 AM and housekeeping just knocked and I told them I was still here. I was asked if I plan to check out at 11. Hmm wonder if they forgot to change their clocks.

And I just remembered I was charged quite a bit for "incidentals" and will watch for that credit. What incidentals are an option? Pic of empty...

Horrible customer service from the front desk Representative named “Crista”. Very Rude and unprofessional. I was there for work (IT consultant) for Mercy One Hospital in the whole of Iowa. My employer had prepaid for the rooms throughout the duration of my stay in Iowa. She came banging on my door at 11am asking me to vacate the room within 10mins even after I told her that my employer was ought to extend my reservation for two extra days. I also tried to explained to her that I worked night shift and just got to the hotel from work at 8am and was sleeping. She was not compassionate at all, nor did she bother to hear me out. Instead, she went to the front desk, picked up the phone and started calling. I calmly explained to her to give me some time to reach out to my employer, because we were asked to send our hotel info so that they would extend our reservation, which I did. She didn’t care. She continued being rude and agitated. I maintained my composure regardless. Then I called my employer and explained the situation. My manager called her and told her to extend me. She then called my room for the 4th time telling me that I would need to vacate the room in 20mins because she would be moving me to another room. I politely accepted, because I was ready to leave the hotel after 2days anyways.

I managed to condone her rude and bad character for two days.

Another disgusting thing about the hotel is that there are bugs. I killed about 4 bugs on different days in my room. It was irritating to me. The room kinda stink as well. I had to use air freshener and Lysol to wipe everywhere..

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that takes hygiene and great customer service very serious. The unprofessional attribute the lady “Crista” showcased is completely unacceptable. That’s definitely not how you treat a guest regardless, after I had told her that my Employer was bought to extend the room. She looks and sounded racist too...

6 months ago, my company was paying my stay here, extending it every day since they didn't know exactly when I will start to work. So after 4-5 days, front desk of this weird hotel, told me they can't extend it since they don't have available rooms (I knew they have a plenty of available rooms). After I packed my things and luggage, on my way out, the manager said they will give me the room after all... Very unpleasant situation. But its nothing compared with yesterday's case... I asked for late check out, front desk lady said ok- 12:00 is checkout. At 10:30 I went to gym just a few feet away from my room. At 11:20 I came back for a shower and checkout but my room was wide open, and empty. My personal belongings including my wallet, money, credit cards and all my clothes was missing. I asked a cleaning lady what's going on, she told me that this hotel has no policy of late checkout! She told me my things are in laundry. Even worse, she had an attitude, almost being aggressive. After I sorted out a problem with front desk (lady at front desk confirmed I had a late checkout allowed) the cleaning lady entered my room after me, blocking the door, so I couldn't close it, trying to prove her point, again pretty aggressively and disrespectful. Not a hint of any apology. Very disturbing place and awkward persons there. I know that my 10-15 yearly overnights will not affect them, but I highly recommend to anyone reading this comment to avoid this place. A lot of things here can go wrong. My...
