I usually don’t give bad reviews but my first time at this place wasn’t a good experience. I was visiting Waterloo due to work and a co-worker recommended this place and I decided to try it out for dinner. When I first walked in I had a lady give ask me what I wanted , I told her I wanted to order for take out. She gave me a menu and told me to go to the bar and someone will be there to take my order. I went to the bar and waited about 5-10 mins for someone to come out. A lady comes from the back and asks me what I wanted and I told her but I had other questions but she was too busy doing other things like helping other people which I understood. But she just listened to the first thing I said and not even care to ask if I wanted anything else. Then another girl came to ask me if I had been helped and the lady that was helping me said “yeah yeah, I got it”. Without giving me a chance to speak. I finally had a chance to speak to the new girl and ask her questions about the menu since it was my first time being there, and while I was talking the first lady kept interrupting me saying “is that it, is that it shrimp dinner?” And I told her to hold on cause I still had few questions. She then left and told the other girl to finish it, which she did but in the process her attitude wasn’t so great, she kept walking away while I was talking and then when she realized My facial expression she said “oh you can ask you any questions you’d like” I then told her nevermind that it was okay since I don’t eat red meat anyways just so I could hurry up and get out of there. When my food came she just roughly placed it on the counter and said “shrimp dinner” and walked away. After having that experience I don’t think I will visit here again due to lack of customer service. I’m a very understanding person when it comes to food industries because I’ve worked at one before and I know it gets hectic at times, but it would’ve been nice if they would’ve actually taken time out to...
Read moreI'll start out by saying I love sushi and have tried many different places. Many good, some just OK. Heck, I've had Sam's club sushi before. So when I was traveling through Waterloo with my grandson, sushi sounded good when we saw Tokyo Bay.
We thought we'd just have sushi, but wanted an egg roll to get things started off. When the server came over she asked for our drink order, she seemed to have trouble understanding us and when we ordered the egg roll, she had no clue what we wanted and wanted us to point it out on the menu. (No, she wasn't Asian) She left and came back to take our order. We ordered all sushi, but when we told her what we wanted, she had us tell her the number, not the name of the sushi. She, once again, had trouble understanding our order.
We then got our egg rolls, which were very good. Later, a different server came over with these fried balls of something. We said we didn't order it, she said we did. We said we didn't and she walked away. She came back a little later with our server and our other sushi and they demanded we ordered the balls and left them. The sushi wasn't bad, but not the greatest. We split one of the balls in half and tried a bite. Not sure what it was but we didn't eat any more.
After we finished, our server came walking over with a bill in her hand. She picked up our soy sauce bottle, that was almost full, and walked away...but left no bill. Later she came back and set down a full bottle of sauce. She asked if we were waiting for something and we said 'Yes, the bill'. A while later, she finally came back with our bill...and a to-go box the the fried things we didn't order...but were on the bill. So $50 and over an hour later, we left. My grandson apologized multiple times for picking out the place. I told him no reason to apologize, it was a good idea for supper, the execution just stunk...but that...
Read moreWe skipped the hibachi experience and ordered a salmon and chicken combo with added swordfish that came with miso, salad, veggies, rice, and noodles. The miso was perfect temp and quality with a sprinkling of mushroom and green onion. The salad was fresh topped with fried onion strings and ginger dressing. Although the salmon was very tasty, the swordfish tasted very fishy. We didn't eat it and weren't charged for it. The chicken was hit and miss. The veggies were perfect. The fried rice was tasty, but the rice was definitely overcooked, and the noodles were noodles. What I most enjoyed were the crab rangoon and soft shell crab rolls we also ordered. To our tasty surprise, the rangoon rolls were the hit. The restaurant was well staffed, and they were well groomed and uniformed. Service was attentive and genuinely courteous. The restaurant was well maintained inside and out. It is a large, spacious, and well ventilated place with very high ceilings and plenty of seating. The front with table seating for ordering and the back for the hibachi experience. The bathroom had a pleasant smell. It's much better than most. Unfortunately for me, bathrooms are never missed. I started in on the rolls...
