My parents & I went here just before New Years & ate outside on the patio for a late lunch. We were seated almost immediately, & I first want to say that the tables were spread far enough apart that we all felt very comfortable considering the times. We immediately order a round of beers & began looking at the menu on our phones. Everything on the limited menu looked delicious, but I went with the tacos that were served with rice and beans. They allow you to mix and match to I got three different tacos -Korean beef, carne asada, vampire taco. My father got two tacos w/ a side of parmesan truffle fries. I was going to do the same, but since both of our meals stated they came with rice and beans, I decided against it & would just try one of his. Mom got the grilled cheese & tomato soup. We waited a while for the first beer & also for our food. The tacos came before the soup & grilled cheese which I thought was odd. There were NO rice and beans w/ either taco meal. I asked the lady when my sides were coming & she said did I want sides with it ?? I was a bit confused by her statement, & I just said "I guess not" assuming I had read the menu wrong. I went back on my phone while we waited for the grilled cheese & determined it was $18 for the three tacos & sides & similar for dad's two, but there wasn't any notation of ordering them a la carte. I asked for the waiter &asked for another side of fries since we didn't get ours. We paid the full combo price for both sets of tacos even though we never received half the food. This was VERY disappointing,& the one of main reason I gave this restaurant a three other than the fact that the service was slow. Taste: Mom said the grilled cheese & soup was some of the best she had had. Taco wise, I thought the best of the three was the Korean beef taco- even though it wasn't as described. It was spicy & the crunch of the slaw (definitely not a broccoli slaw)made for a delicious bite. There were also zero green onions or sesame seeds on this taco, but whatever they did put on it was good. I thought the guac was the lamest part of the carne asada taco. This taco lacked a decent bit of flavor, but the meat was juicy and well cooked. Maybe if they put the salsa verde on the bottom it would have made it taste less dry?see photo. I do believe they didn't put smoked poblano peppers on it. WHY CANT THEY JUST MAKE IT THE WAY THEY DESCRIBE. :( The vampire taco was good. I didn't think the cheese on the outside really added much to the flavor, but I do love some burnt cheese! I wouldn't pay the extra money to make the other tacos like this though. It's not worth it. The insides of the taco were good near the end. No bacon was on here.CAN I REPEAT THE SENTIMENT ABOVE AGAIN. The only unappealing aspect was the whole cloves of garlic in the small taco. It was a bit much, but once you pull those suckers out of there, it was a delightful experience. The garlic did add flavor, but it just wasn't something I wanted to eat whole- ever. If I hadn't had that spicy Korean beef taco, I probably would have thought this was topnotch. The fries were on a whole new level, and we finished every. last. single. one.
We all had local beers, & they were delicious and reasonably priced. As I stated before, I am giving Yard House at this location a 3 because of service and misleading menu items. It took 25 minutes to get our 2nd beer & they never gave us sides that we were wanting as part of our meal. If they hadn't actually charged us for a combo & for a la carte tacos as they stated, I would have given a 4, but we paid for a combo and received zero sides after even asking a server and our personal server about it. I will at least end on a positive by saying that I will be back to give them another chance because the food was so good even if it's not what I ordered. They have delicious looking desserts & a library of local beers to try along with all the other food...
Read moreMy coworkers picked this place for lunch and it was my very first time visiting. As I drove up, I realized that the parking is odd, and the only way that you are parking close to the entrance is to valet. I was very impressed by the Ferrari that was sitting out front, and thought to myself, “man- this is gonna be a good lunch!” The Ferrari in the valet is the only reason for a 4-star atmosphere rating. My coworkers were already seated by the time that I walked the 1/2 mile away from my parking spot, so I promptly ordered a Diet Coke. The thing about fountain drinks is that there should be a person delegated to try the carbonation to syrup ratio once per day. This Diet Coke was light on both syrup and carbonation, so basically I had a Diet Coke like it had been cut in half by the street dealer. I want potency. Let’s get to the entree, or what YardHouse likes to call their “Main.” Earlier in the day, I had watched a pretty sweet Bruce Lee video, so why not try the Szechuan crispy beef noodles. At $24, I was almost positive this was going to be a hit! In summary, this entree hit like the thousands of movie set extras that Bruce Lee had the privilege to karate chop. The “beef” was basically like cold, seasoned beef jerky laid upon a haphazardly thrown pile of $0.43 Food Town spaghetti noodles. The noodles were room temperature on the outside, and piping hot on the inside, which makes me believe that the kitchen staff are not very proficient in microwave usage. (You have to stir halfway through the cycle, Sir) The sauce that was applied to my dish was not a Szechuan style, but more of a mixture of old refrigerator condiments that you mix together in hopes of making a decent meal until payday. Oh, I almost forgot- there were 2 mushrooms mixed into the dish, but not healthy, robust food mushrooms- they looked more like the kind of mushrooms that you buy to make magical tea. So yeah, at the end of the day, the best thing I can say about the YardHouse at Baybrook mall is, “cool...
Read moreThis was my first time dining at Yard House. The restaurant wasn't crowded and had a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The tables were spacious, providing enough room to enjoy the meal comfortably, which I liked.
The food was good, and I opted for the menu items with fewer than 700 calories, so the portions were not large but still sufficient. However, my son ordered the fried chicken, which turned out to be too tough and had an average taste, so he didn't enjoy it and couldn't finish it.
As for the service, there was a somewhat awkward incident. Despite the restaurant not being busy and many empty tables around, the young waiter seemed overly eager to clear our plates. While he approached us to greet, I paused to listen to him and, during that time, he started to clear the plates even though there was still food on them. I had to awkwardly tell him that I hadn't finished eating yet. 😅 Then my son and I exchanged glances and couldn't help but laugh.
Later, when it was time to settle the bill, I left a 15% tip, which is less than my usual 20% tip. My son jokingly said that the server probably lost some tip because he was too diligent in...
