These are the kind of people who would hurt a puppy for their own enjoyment. They certainly have shown they couldn't care less about a person with disabilities. If they didn't have a handicap accessible room available at the time of reservation, why weren't we told? If they didn't have a handicap accessible room available when we checked in, why were we sent to a room that obviously was not handicapped accessible? It wasn't until then that they admitted that they didn't have any handicap accessible rooms available. This kind of behavior is incorrigible. Why can hotels get away with this? If you need an accessible room, then you MUST have an accessible room. It's not like the couch is the wrong color or the bed is too soft. When we book an accessible room it is because we are hoping it will accommodate our physical deficiencies with things such as grab bars, anti-slip materials on the floor (especially in the shower), as well as a taller toilet and furniture as well as plenty of room to maneuver a walker or wheelchair through the room and especially the bathroom. This room had absolutely none of those, with the exception of one misplaced grab bar in the shower. That would not have been so bad if there had at least been a handheld shower head, so I didn't have to stand and sit and stand and sit so many times to wash myself. The way I ended up having to shower myself was absolutely humiliating to me because of how my wife had to help me. SHAME ON YOU "RESIDENCE INN"!
In addition to all of that, we could not connect to the internet through their internal Wi-Fi system for some reason. It was not working on our handheld devices, nor was it even working to watch streaming apps through the in-room televisions.
When my wife went the first morning, we were there and complained profusely about the conditions I had to face in our room. They said that an actual handicapped room was going to be available that afternoon. They said if we loaded one of the luggage carts with our luggage, they would get it taken to the new room. That was all okay, but unfortunately, we were traveling with medicines that had to be refrigerated as well as some specialized food items. Since I couldn't trust them with a reservation, I sure as hell wasn't going to trust them with my medicine and food! So, when we got out for the day, we had to schlep all of that stuff with us and keep it cool in a 90° truck all day.
When we returned to the hotel the second evening, we found first of all that there were only two handicap parking spaces into the main entrance of the hotel which is where we had to enter to get to the new room. Of course, both handicap spaces were filled, as were all of the other spaces at the front of the hotel. I had to park on the side of the hotel and walk all the way to the lobby, then to the elevators. After going to the second floor where our new room was, it was a very, very significant walk to get to the room we were given. I will never understand why hotels put handicap room so far from the elevators! I think that is the opposite of being accessible. So as we slept our refrigerated items in the cooler the 200 yards from the truck to our room with my Walker and my wife carrying as much as she could, we finally made it to the new room. Once in the new room, we, of course, had to unpack everything again and settle in again and move all of the refrigerated items into the refrigerator. The room was satisfactory, but the damage was done. Additionally, we still had to walk a hell of a long way from the truck to the room anytime we came or left . You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. Their first impression was horrible! This is a nice place, but I do not recommend it for disabled people. I don't think we will be back. They have already proven themselves to be...
Read moreOur visit began with a snag. I reserved a one bedroom fireplace suite online and when we arrived from NYC, we were told there were none available, the system made a mistake. Of course this was upsetting because as a mother of two, a quiet space is a luxury so I was heartbroken. When I called to make a complaint of the situation I was offered a studio suite at a discounted price. Not only was that very professional and courteous of them but I was pleasantly surprised with what happened next. This was our first time at a Residence Inn. The room was very clean and had a nice modern decor. The facility and amenities were also kept very clean and the staff was so friendly and attentive. Favio the pool guy worked hard to keep the pool warm and in good condition, not to mention how helpful he was in every other aspect like going out of his way to get us extra clean towels for our room. There was also a gentleman named Chris that was cleaning the gym and pool area, he approached me to ask how my stay was going. He informed me of shows taking place in Providence and our small talk was so pleasant. I told him how nice my experience has been and that I will definitely be coming back to this hotel mainly due to the cleanliness and the staffs kindness. Breakfast was great and they even had waffle makers so that you can prepare them yourselves which my daughters enjoyed very much. This is a pet friendly hotel yet we didn't smell or hear a single thing our entire stay due to the amazing service. The lobby had a mingle night with drinks and party pizza for the guests which isn't something you see in most hotels. My snag went from heartbreaking to heart melting mainly because the staff won me over and made us complete forget what we were upset about in the first place. I would highly recommend this place to families and just about anyone who wants to stay in a clean place full of great attitudes, wonderful smiles and great service. Great job Residence Inn at Providence Coventry for turning my frown upside down. The Wills Family would like to thank you for making our...
Read moreWhile this hotel is the nicest option in Coventry, I was overall unimpressed.
House keeping was horrible. Only came twice, both attempts were unsatisfactory. Beds poorly made. Comforter not put back in between protective sheets one day and put in closet the other day. One of the two days they did come, they came at 2:30pm and woke my son up from his nap. I was also put off by the fact that this Marriott didn't offer the option to earn points for opting out of room service.
Lobby and breakfast area was as hot inside as it was outside and very uncomfortable to sit in. Breakfast was decent with a nice selection. I was appalled that there were paper/disposable plates, bowls & utensils put out on top of the standard washable ceramic ones. I believe that was done out of laziness and is not a good look for Marriott on sustainable practices for the environment.
It was a nice sized room with full kitchen. The quality and feeling of cleanliness of the furniture was not to our liking but expected at this level hotel in your family of hotels.
I have some bites along my rib cage and I was not outside at great lengths of time so I suspect they are potentially from bed bugs but did not inspect so I can not conclude.
We received a final folio a day prior to our departure which sent us into a tizzy thinking we would be checked out when we got home later that evening.
When checking out, we informed the front desk that house keeping had been less than satisfactory. We received a simple shoulder shrug and 'sorry' from the receptionist. No questions were asked of us on how they could use the information to better their service for others. It was not a great exit and left a bad taste in my mothers mouth - of whom I am trying to convince Marriott and their hotels are the best way to travel with confidence in the level of service and...
