I had been looking forward to trying this place ever since I saw it on Facebook. The idea of drink flights and food flights really drew me in. I really wanted to love it, and there were some loveable things as well as some small changes that could help them improve.
First, and an easy fix, the music was so loud we could barely have a conversation, and was not your typical restaurant music. I'm fairly sure it was someone's phone and at first a good portion was rap music. I'm not an old lady but I kind of felt like one, questioning why they were playing the music choices they were as loud as they were; the music should be in the background. We felt relieved when there was a 5 second break in the music between songs. Otherwise, at a table for 7, I could only really hear the people sitting closest to me. For the record, I did try asking our server if it could be turned down a little and she said she would have to ask the person who was playing it. It was not turned down, but in fact seemed louder when we left- I couldn't even think straight when trying to figure out the bill in the end (and this wasn't because of the drinks... you'll see why if you keep reading).
The drink flights are priced too high. My espresso martini flight tasted delicious! However for $20 a flight, I don't think it was worth it. They were supposedly 3.5oz glasses, and a typical martini is 6-8oz. I expected to drink the flight and feel some kind of effect since it should have equaled more than one martini and one martini would normally be enough for me, but it was like I drank nothing. My friend had the sangria flight, and while yes, sangria normally comes with ice, ice in the small flight glasses= not a lot of sangria for $20.
The fries were the best part of the food we tried- the poutine, garlic truffle, and loaded (I think?) The egg rolls were just one egg roll cut in half for each portion of the flight. I've had better steak and cheese egg rolls with more flavor. The tomato/mozz bruschetta was cold, which we were not expecting, and not sliced into pieces- just one slice of bread each flight selection that we had to cut ourselves to share. (Don't a lot of people share flights? I would think they would be sliced in the kitchen)
It was .25 wing night but we were disappointed that it didn't start until 7 and we came in at 5:30 (and were told that was a firm start time). And maybe it was due to that, but after exiting the restroom, there was a noticeable smokiness in the room from the fryolator, and my dress still smelled like fried food the next day. Not sure if this is typical.
I'm glad we tried it... if we came back it would probably have to be for a special where the food and/ or drinks are discounted, and I would ask if it was possible to sit in the smaller back room or cafe room where it seemed quieter so I could actually enjoy conversation with the...
Read moreThe christmas decor is stunning. They did a great job. Doors are even wrapped with wrapping paper. Me and 3 friends ventured here for a mom's night out. No regrets!!!! I'd like to acknowledge the staff for being upbeat and working as a team. We got there around 9pm and it was still packed !!!! We decided to do the flight meals... how can you not!? We couldn't decide, so we each ordered something different and split the good between us 4. Mac and cheese, I personally found to be a bit bland minus the delicious toppings of course. Get topping with every bite and youll be fine! Although I will still say I found the shredded Buffalo chicken to be dry. The chicken wings we were impressed with! 4 in each bowl (perfect! Each got one of the wings) the quality of chicken was phenomenal. The flavors were out of this world!!!! 10/10 on the wings. French fries, same thing! We decided on thin cut so the toppings wouldn't get stuck on the waffle fry. That way we all got an even amount of topping per fry. Great choice if I do say so myself!!! Came with more fries than any of us expected !!! The egg rolls. Yum! Absolutely yum!!!!!! Perfectly crisp. Perfectly stuffed. Delicious ! We also got tacos, which were good if ate right away. After they sat a bit, they got soggy. (To be expected of tortilla flour wraps not mad about it, just wish we had thought it through and consumed those quicker) the tacos were still pretty good. The drink flights were also very good!!! Me and one of the girls did margaritas. They were great and I myself was buzzed after the first 3. Another girl got the espressos. I did sip one to try. Man! I do not even like coffee and would of got the salted caramel one. So so good!!!!!!! The 4th friend was out dd (sorry lady) from staff to food to atmosphere this is a must stop!!!!! The mac and cheese and soggy taco (again more our fault than the restaurant) is why I took a star away for food. Nonetheless, we will all be back! I suggest if you're in the air about this place you get your butt in the car and vroom on there!!!!!! You won't be...
Read moreI had heard and read about this place and wanted to try it but had not had the chance. A friend came to town, so we decided to try it. It was initially confusing which entrance to go in, but there is a sign on the dining section directing patrons to the breakfast entrance. We weren't greeted because unbeknownst to us, they were just shifting to dinner. We were there at about 5p. We saw a group of people in the kitchen and said hello. Someone indicated we should sit where we want. After dropping our menus and explaining how the flights work and telling us which items weren't available, it took a bit for our server to come back. We had decided on the drinks and food we wanted to order by then. Our friend had questions about gluten content because he has celiac's. The server was not certain of the answers but offered to get her manager (who never came over and they weren't very busy), but she did get answers. To summarize, this is not really a gluten free friendly place. We placed our orders. The drinks came out fairly quickly, and the food came out not long behind it. The deviled eggs are likely tasty but ours were so salty they were almost inedible. My husband likes food saltier than I do and he's the one who asked if ours were salty. All 6 were equally salty. My husband and I had tacos and our friend had lettuce wraps. He wanted tacos and they use soft corn tacos but they fry them just a bit so they aren't considered gluten free because of this (cross contamination). The tacos and lettuce wraps were good. We did not get dessert. Overall, we thought the place was meh. Nothing was remarkable enough to stand out. The portion sizes are on the small side. The server was friendly but not warm. The prices felt high for the portion size but it is a small restaurant so they likely can't get volume discounts, so I think prices are as good as they can be for the times. The atmosphere is comfy with bank seats with pillows, but it still feels "cold" somehow. I would not rush back. The flights aren't enough to define them and entice one to...
