Unfortunately there’s several reasons for my very low score.
Upon entering or leaving the hotel there is a very strong and unpleasant poop smell. Since the hotel allows pets, guests let their various animals use the bathroom in the grass next to the entrance and parking areas. Not all owners picked up after their pets. You could see and smell poop- during my stay the outside temperatures were in the 92+ range making the problem worse.
Kids tried to watch TV, nothing would come on. Had to go to the front desk to get help. The guy that came to help was very nice and did allow us to go ahead and leave so we could get something to eat while he stayed and worked on the TV and box. (He said it would take him a little bit to get it working. When we came back he did have it working.)
My room had a strong odor especially around/in the bathroom. A very musty/mildew odor. I actually ended up running down to their local Walmart and purchasing Febreze Air Spray to try and help with the smell. When I got home and unpacked EVERYTHING smelled nasty like that room. I had to wash everything- especially my child’s travel blanket and pillow. He couldn’t even use it for the ride home because it smelled so bad from where it was left in the room from check-in to check-out (unlike us who only had to deal with the room/smell when we came back to attempt the pool and go to bed)
Which brings me to the pool- the entire reason I booked the hotel in the 1st place. I have 2 kids, they enjoy the pool and I like the hot tub. Except it’s nothing like the online pictures. The hot tub has been covered up with a wooden cover and the handrail removed completely. The assist chair has been removed and inaccessible. The pools water is green with a cloudiness to it. There was several clumps of hair along the sides of the pool. The tables on the sun deck was covered with other gusts’ towels and swimsuits. Guests left their wet items to dry in the sun as they went back to their rooms or left the hotel completely for the day. Pool area was in serious need of satanizing and would not recommend walking around barefoot.
Aside from the smell and tv initially not working, there were other issues with our room. I paid for Queen size beds and received Full-size beds. 1 of the 2 beds leaned to where you had to sleep at the foot of the bed so your head would be higher than your feet. 1 of the comforters was ripped from repeated use and washing I’m assuming, not sure, but maids changed the bedding and still felt it was “good enough” for the next guest. As a woman, I appreciate a trashcan directly in the bathroom for various reasons. I feel it’s inappropriate and embarrassing to have to come out of the bathroom with certain things to find the nearest trashcan. After the 1st time- I moved a trashcan into the bathroom until I left. I should not have to “find” a trashcan for such a common place that one is needed like the bathroom. (I’m sure hundreds of other guests just flush whatever since there is nothing) The rest of the people who is staying with me in the hotel room does not need to see or know my business on private/personal matters. 1 of the 2 ceiling lights did not work. When you turned on the light in the bathroom it automatically turned on the fan which sounded like a high powered industrial fan.
The room above me had kids and all you heard was them running around. While I understand kids are kids and it’s summer and they are on vacation, I had 2 of my own there with me- I’m not saying anything about that during the day. But it was after 11pm and I could still hear kids running across the floor above me.
Needless to say I will not be staying at this hotel again there were to many issues. A good hotel should leave you feeling refreshed from a great nights sleep and relaxed for the next day. I was left tired and aggravated with my overall experience. I will go further up the road or stop sooner on our next trip through...
Read moreMy husband and I booked a room at the Comfort Inn Hotel for our 40th Anniversary from August 24 through August 28th in the Lancaster County in April, 2023. This was supposed to be our 40th wedding anniversary weekend. We checked in on Thursday, August 24th at 2:45pm. We specified a handicap room which we got. We got room 202, all the way down the hall. A good thing I had my walker, it helped a lot. We rested a little bit before heading out to dinner that night. The room was clean, it was just the two of us, so all that was needed was two of everything, two towels, 2 wash clothes, 2 hand towels and a bathmat. The following day, Friday, we went out for the day, upon entering the room that night, I noticed the bed was not made, wet towels in the bathroom, nothing was done. I questioned the front desk person and she said ,"oh, housekeeping only cleans up every three days, not everyday. So does that mean we make our own bed? Yes, and what about towels? Just put whatever you want replaced outside your door, garbage also. I looked out my hotel room and down the corridor was towels and sheets outside everyone's door. I've stayed at other Comfort Inn Hotels before but never had to put my dirty towels outside our door and our garbage bins. I found it very odd that we had to do this, I figured oh, we put dirty towels or sheets outside our door and we get clean ones in return. That wasn't the case. I called front desk and asked where are my towels? I thought they were going to bring it right up but they didn't. The next day, Saturday, as we go downstairs I stopped at the front desk and said "what about those towels for room 202? Oh hold on, she goes into the laundry room and hands me a towel, what about the wash clothes, hold on, goes in and gets me a wash cloth, and finally...the bathmat??? Oh, I'll bring that up to you, they're still in the dryer. Inspecting the towels, I saw a hair on it. Ewww, as if. Sunday, our anniversary day, special day, we went to church. After church, we spent the day out, we dined out. My husband says I have to tell you something, what? We got charged TWICE. What? We held the room with one card, upon arriving the hotel, we wanted to pay with cash, but the girl for some reason didn't want to accept cash or didn't know how to do cash on her computer, so we told her NOT to use the card on file, we handed her another card. So what she do, charged both cards. When we got back Sunday night, we approached the young lady at front desk and explained what happened, but shift had changed and the manager was off for the weekend and we'll have to wait till Monday. We were so upset we decided not to stay an extra day. Monday came and the manager was explaining to us that although it says charged it actually wasn't charged just pending. It should clear 3-5 days , we say that to everyone, it gives us a window to clear up any mishaps like this and if not, give us a call and we'll see what we could do then. Comfort Inn...never again. I am not a happy camper. Comfort Inn 3903 Able...
Read moreI have been to other Comfort Inns in the past, and I don't have negative comments for them. Sadly, for this one, we had a rather stressful and worrisome stay. I will say up front that the staff was very helpful with our concerns, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel itself was not noisy, even with other visitors. It's also conveniently located, with easy access to the the three river towns.|At any rate, I'm hoping that the following is just that the hotel was having a bad couple of days! The first thing we noticed in our room was that there was no phone or clock. Not that big of a problem, as we had our cell phones and I always bring a travel alarm anyway. After settling in and placing our belongings where we wanted in the room, I suddenly noticed an ant on my hand. I had no idea where it could have come from, so I got rid of it. However, a few moments later, I picked up my cell to check messages (it was on the TV chest), and there was another ant on the phone. I looked on the chest and saw three more ants crawling around. At that point I spoke with the manager and we were provided another room on the third floor.|We packed everything up to move upstairs. We unpacked and when we used the sink for the first time, it was clogged. It would take almost five minutes to drain, barely using any water. Also, on our way out of the room, we saw another ant at the door. At that point I thought of leaving and asking for a refund, but again, the manager was courteous and supportive. While we were out to have our dinner, they cleared the sink of being clogged and sprayed the area. We saw no more ants after that.|Another uncomfortable issue was that there were no towel bars in the bathroom to hang wet towels after bathing. I have NEVER seen that before. That was true for both rooms. Oh, before I forget, when we returned back on the second night, we were unable to get into the room, so I went to the lobby to talk to the manager, who was nowhere to be seen. I left two messages on the phone, knocked on staff doors, but no one showed up. The manager finally came in about ten minutes later, and I must admit, while he was courteous, I was really losing my patience. He had no explanation as to why the original key card didn't work any more, so he gave us two new ones. But until he showed up, I didn't know if we were going to literally sleep in the lobby that night!|Finally, while the hotel itself seemed clean, we were not happy with the lack of health practices there (still thinking of Covid, etc.). There were no tongs provided in the breakfast area to grab bread or pastry, so people used their hands. And we observed a worker placing breads and pastry in the area with bare hands, no gloves.|This doesn't mean I wouldn't use another Comfort Inn, but we're going to think twice about coming back to this one. I do hope this was an unusual situation for the staff and the unhealthy conditions...
