Hampton Inn & Suites West Lafayette — Hotel in West Lafayette

Decent looking property, good location, but started off with a bad impression right off the bat. ||After a long drive - and having already pre-checked in that morning - I went straight to my room to use the app's "digital key" to open the door. After trying 3 times my phone alerted me to call a 1-800 number to get a new one. Called that number and was told to go to the front desk. I did, and while the woman was polite and friendly when she said "those digital keys never seem to work" - well then when I walked in the front door the first time why didn't you tell me that and give me a key card so I didn't have to go up and down from the top floor twice? Strike 1.||Later, after turning in to sleep, had the joy of being awoken every 30 minutes by the loudest, most annoying hotel fan I've ever experienced - and usually I enjoy the fan as a background/white noise. But I want you to imagine the noise of broken laptop fan times 10 inches from your bed. For $200/night I expect WAY better. Strike 2.||When I finally managed to get somewhat of a broken sleep through the fan noise, I had the pleasure of having THE FIRE ALARM wake me in the middle of the night. Standing outside in the freezing cold rain for 20 minutes and realizing I wasn't going to get back to sleep, the few people waiting in the parking lot all wondered what the cause of the alarm was? As we walked back in the lobby drenched and exhausted we found out. It was just the hotel making breakfast! Oops! Sorry! ||Really? and you don't do anything to make this right to the guests? Strike 3.||Finally, get rid of the stupid barn doors on the bathrooms. They provide ZERO privacy which is actually the point of a door, didn't you know? Strike 4 but I'm already never...

We were in town for a family members wedding. The staff was wonderful & everyone was so kind! They offered us bottle water for my whole family when we walked in at no charge. My son forgot his tooth brush and went down to buy one and they gave him one. It was so nice that we didn't have to spend extra money on this little stuff. We really enjoyed the hospitality that was given to us. I had a little too much to drink at the wedding and the next morning I totally spaced I hung dresses and clothing in the closet. I had already made the 2 hr 15 min travel back home when I received a call AND An email from Lisa Mack letting me know I left some personal belongings behind. I was so bummed that I made an error like this. She said if I purchased a click n slip with UPS and email it to her she would ship my things back to me. I appreciate her time, communication and knowledge on how to handle this process as Iv never done it before. I received my personal belongings within 2 days. I am beyond impressed with the service. I know this is a Hilton property, but it felt like a cozy, personal bed & breakfast stay! From the moment we walked in, we felt the attention to detail. |It was during the 95+ degree heat wave, and we were offered cold water multiple times during our stay. The knew were here for an outdoors wedding, and loaded us up with extra bottles for the ceremony.|Every person we encountered was incredibly nice and friendly, and went out of their way to make every person feel that way. They were even kind to each other.|The rooms were also beautiful, updated and so clean! It was probably the most relaxing 24 hours we’ve ever spent in a hotel. |Even other patrons at the hotel agreed-multiple times in the lobby, elevator and at breakfast, we would all comment to each other how amazing the staff was to everyone.|When we came back from the wedding, we cooled off at the indoor pool (around 11 pm), and the sweet manager offered us fresh decaf coffee, water bottles (again😊) and water for tea. And the gentleman at the breakfast the next morning was also awesome-anticipating every need, cleaning up constantly and engaging with all the guests like a host! |I want to visit Lafayette again just...
