I am a regular of La Tea and used to absolutely love it. If I were to leave a review a few months or even a year ago, it would have been 5 stars. Unfortunately, the last handful of times I have visited the service has been extremely slow and the wait times outrageous. I’ve walked out 2 times due to the number of people in line and waiting for their orders. At one point, orders stopped coming out entirely or came out in 5 minute increments. We were warned of a 15 min wait time this last time and it ended up being 40 min. Plus they consistently put the wrong milk in our drinks. The quality of the drinks are great! I cannot complain about that. But man, the service has been poor. I also want to comment on their stock of items. Very often they’re out of something critical or they’re having to make more boba leading to increased wait time. I called for weeks one time to see if their Taro had been in stock. It’s disappointing walking in and seeing a component of what you ordered scribbled on a little list by the register (meaning out of stock). I will caveat by saying my bad experiences have been on Friday evenings or the weekends so I can’t speak to how they are during regular daytime hours but I would expect a better experience...
Read moreI am absolutely in love with Latea and their drinks! The Matcha Cream Cheese Float is one of my all-time favorites, and I can never go wrong with adding some honey bubbles to it. Their Green Tea Cream Cheese Float is also a must-try. And don't even get me started on their tiramisu, it's simply amazing.
What really sets Latea apart, however, is their exceptional customer service. I once received a drink that was made incorrectly, but when I came back a few days later, they replaced it for me without any hassle or issue. The staff there are always so kind and accommodating.
Latea's drinks are hands down better than Kung Fu Tea, which I made the mistake of trying once. Not only were their drinks terrible and artificial, but they also charged me a higher price. Needless to say, I was incredibly disappointed. Since discovering Latea, however, I have never looked back. In my opinion, Latea is a perfect 10 out of 10, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious, high-quality drinks and exceptional...
Read moreWhite-washed take on the classical Taiwanese drink. Over-priced. The fact of the matter is that you can get much better (and more authentic) bubble tea at the numerous other bubble tea places in the greater Lafayette and West Lafayette area. This is the Chipotle of bubble tea.
As far as the seating goes, it isn't much of a lounge, looks like they found a bunch of park/patio furniture and put it indoors under a bunch of wobbly tables. Dust on almost everything. Bare-bones aesthetic that makes me wonder if it is a school cafeteria or a legit study place. None of the outlets in the place work, so if your laptop needs a charge, you're out of luck.
Also, I don't think that any of the staff members speak Chinese, at least none of the staff members did when I was there. Not sure how you can have a bubble tea place where no one actually knows the name of the drink they are serving.
Overrated, underdone, and...
