GQT Wabash Landing 9 — Local services in West Lafayette

Here's a note/rant about some other reviews...The people whining about parking (esp. the person who complained about being towed) seem to not know how to read clearly marked signs. As in, if the sign says 1 hour parking, 9-5, don't park there at 2PM and sit through a movie because you can be towed. If the sign says "X Restaurant Parking only, violators will be towed, you probably shouldn't park there and watch a movie. There is a small parking lot across the street and plenty of street parking after 5. There is also a huge parking garage right around the corner that is a 2 minute walk away...it is free some days and a $2-3 for 2-3 hours on days you have to pay. There is also parking 5 minutes (walking) away that never seems to be full and is free/2hour parking during the week. Complaining about having your car towed is absolutely stupid because you parked it somewhere you weren't supposed to. I've been to this theater probably 10-15 times and I never have an issue finding parking assuming I am willing to walk ~5 minutes. If you do not know where to find parking spots, you can park your car somewhere temporary and ask the people inside, they are more than willing to help.

That being said, this is a very nice (albeit small) theater that services mainly Purdue students and locals living on or just off campus. The staff is very friendly and nice and the theaters themselves, while small, are almost always very clean. This review only gets 4 stars because there are far too many rude and noisy students. A majority of students are respectful but there have almost always been a small group at any showing I have been to that refuse to shut up and are incredibly bothersome. I am saying this as a fellow student myself, so I am in no way inherently biased against young people or college students...it's just an observation I have made nearly every time...

This theater is nice, it’ll get you what you need, which is not the most glamorous movie going experience, but one with the most memorable moments and interesting conversation starters. Yes, many of those will come from the movies that flicker on the big screen. However, I want to shine a temporary light on the humble Party Room. This theater, nay, sanctuary, has the added amenity of a Party Room that is accessible after turning left towards theatres 1-6. With its transparent front glass panel windows and doors, you immediately know what it stands for. It represents a simpler time, when children only needed a microwave, a dollar store HAPY BIRTHDAY banner, and some of the most round and plastic tables on the market today to celebrate. There’s nothing this room hides. It lives in its truth, one where entertainment and fun must be actively created. It pulls no punches and takes no shortcuts. What you see is truly what you get. And in the era of Facetune and puppy ear snapchat filters, don’t we all want more authenticity from our spaces? This Party Room is real. And it knows that while others enjoy a lovely showing of the latest films, they engage in a suspended disbelief. We yearn for escape and we get it. But when you’re ready, come sit in the party room once or twice. Look out through those windows to the hallway and treat the world as your own newfound movie. How endearing to watch a group of friends reenact their favorite scenes as they depart. How wholesome to watch two people on a third date fervently try to come up with insights extra deep to impress their new acquaintance. How meaningful to see people step back out into the light having been changed, maybe even in ways not entirely clear to them. That is the essence of life and it is the essence of the Party Room. This place has great deals for all (though especially for college kids), has a program for regularly running classic movies ranging from Indiana Jones And The Raiders of The Lost Ark to Blazing Saddles to Spirited Away, has an online ticket purchasing method for convenience, and has all the random foods and drinks you expect of a theatre. Somehow there also seems to be a lower than average number of annoying moviegoers, so it's easier to enjoy your movie without obnoxious people. That said, if obnoxious people ruin your experience and you politely share this with the staff, they will take immediate action if the movie is still rolling and they'll go above and beyond just to make you happy, even if you try to politely decline! (I say that because I recognize the theatre isn't at fault and as long as they make reasonable effort to stop anyone from actively ruining the experience then they don't owe me anything)

The theaters themselves are plenty spacious from the theaters down to the seats, and while the sound is plenty turned up it's not uncomfortably loud. The sound quality is very solid, and in all the theaters I've been in here the general acoustics of the room have been fantastic. They've also cared to build out each theater in a way that guests entering or exiting won't cause any noticeable light or noise bleed.

I've been here a ton of times and it's my favorite movie theatre in a good 100 mile range, at which point it only crosses over to a different theatre because the other theatre serves adult beverages, and there's nothing quite like a theatre beer.

All in all this is a high quality movie watching...
