I love Purdue Union, I went to school at Purdue and have very fond memories of the Union. So it was great coming back this past weekend for a family get together, as my brother and his family still live in West Lafayette. During check in, the clerk noticed my wife was in a wheelchair and asked if we needed an ADA room. My wife said sure, and so we got a choice, either pay $150 extra a night or $50 extra a night. I picked $50, although I was wondering why an ADA room cost more.|We got into the room and at first glance it looked awesome...large room, lots of sitting space a large window with a view of the building next door..but lots of light coming in. As we were preparing to put our clothes away we noticed there were NO DRAWERS anywhere...NONE! Then we went into the bathroom to plug in our tea maker and realized there were not outlets in the bathroom.NONE!!! Two of my kids came in and said.."Dad..no way there arent drawers and outlets, we have them, you just havent looked properly" Well...they couldnt find any drawers or bathroom outlets. The front desk said maybe its an ADA thing. WHAT?? Handicap people dont need to put their clothes away or plug in anything in the bathroom? So that was our experience...dont ask for the ADA rooms...they cost more and you get less. Other than that its an ok hotel, the restaurant was good, and the rest of the Union is awesome. Odd that its an engineering school. Our room must have been designed by someone that...
Read moreIf you are going to be on Purdue's Campus, this is the place to stay (this is a Marriot Autograph Collection Hotel) This is our second time staying here ( our son attends Purdue) and we will be back again for parents' weekend in September!|This hotel has been updated and has modern stylish rooms... it has as a modern yet historic boutique ambiance to it. You cannot beat the location for all things "Purdue" as it is right on campus! ||Many of the staff members are students and they are excellent at customer service, truly a pleasure to stay here. At the front desk... Jackie, Caden and Vedaant took amazing care of us. Whatever we needed or had questions about they quickly and kindly helped us. We watched as they treated each guest who approached the front desk with genuine care. AWESOME. By the time we left we felt like family, lol! Caden remembers our family every time we call. Pretty cool. Thank you, Caden. ||We also dined in the 8Eleven restaurant/bistro. We have had numerous breakfasts and several dinners here. The staff is always attentive, and the food is quite good. Boiler Up Bar is classy & cozy. As a marketing person... when it comes to customer service, I am pretty tough to please... these folks did an impressive job; a class act. I want to say to Victoria Wicks that you manage a great hotel and hire lovely people. YOU are doing a tremendous job too. Hope to meet you next time:-) |We truly look forward to returning for years to come. Thank...
Read moreLook up epic hospitality, The Union Club Hotel at Purdue University speaks volume in my honest reflection of the special experience at every part that the hotel offers, front desk staff, valetstaff, the 8Eleven Bistro, the 24 day daily events for Christmas, and a special thanks to House keeping for the nice work they do. Its my firat time here, on a business trip, for 6 nights. It all started when i google searched for top hotels in Lafayette indiana. I called the hotel, made the reservations and showed up. This hotel exceeded my expectations. I want to come back again with family, or recommend friends to experience it for themselves. One more important part of my experience, is when i called Bonvoy Marriott to help with the reservation, ito answer my questions in more depth i was easily transferred to speak to the General Manager of the hotel. Since i had limited time left i needed to decide on booking a hotel in the area, the General Manager Vickie Wicks explained to me the expectation and the things happening at the hotel, the hotel definitely exceeded the expectation and way much more was delivered. I am an alumni of Washington Universityin St Louis, and its always a pleasure to be visiting another well renowned university, as Purdue University is a historic landmark of history, and the hotel follows a one of a kind historical legacy.
Being a 80% traveler, amongst other hotels this is ranked hands down my...
