Review on La Quinta room 128|DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! To put it mildly, it’s a glorified motel that calls themselves a hotel. Wyndham should dump this property. I’d give this -5 stars if I could.||The nonsense started right from day 1 when I first arrived.||The bellhop offered to take my luggage out of my car put it on a cart to take to my room after I checked in. He walked away while I was checking in, & I saw him both side of the building chatting away. The front desk called to come back. He didn’t. I took my own luggage to my room.||Staff (female) at the front desk didn’t understand English very well. She told me where my room was, first she said a right and then a left & then said “two lefts.” I asked if it was by the pool for landmark purposes. She said no. My room was right by the pool. She gave me the bracelet for breakfast & said I will need it for tomorrow. I asked if I am to keep this for the week, she said “no, tomorrow for breakfast.” Clearly didn’t understand me. Great. I went with my gut and kept it for the week because you do need it for the week. Breakfast on the weekends goes until 10 am, during the week 9 am. I wasn’t informed of that and showed up at 9:15, knocked and they let me in. Back to the language barrier, here’s another example, I asked the front desk for mayonnaise or mustard, she said “I don’t even know what mayonnaise is.” Someone else had to come out and speak to her in her language and then she knew what mayonnaise is.||There were 2 beds in my room. The one closest to the window squeaks but had an outlet. The other bed doesn’t squeak but has no outlet. You can plug your phone into the alarm clock to charge. Lamps & such are outdated, the flooring is nice though. On 3/8 new mattresses were delivered, I told hotel staff about my squeaky mattress & they asked if they could switch mine out right now & I said “sure, but I might be switching rooms.” I didn’t end up switching rooms and didn’t get a new mattress. Squeaky bed it is. ||The day I checked in I noticed the WiFi wasn’t working in my room, hence mentioning switching rooms. When I went to the front desk to inform them & she said, “oh yes, that’s a problem.” I asked why that was & she said the WiFi isn’t working on that whole side. I then asked what any normal person would ask, “you rent out a room knowing there is a WiFi issue?” Crickets. Now we get into the mention of switching rooms. I asked to be switched because of the WIFI issues, I need to be able to have sessions. She tells me that because I booked through a third party (Expedia) & that Expedia put restrictions on my room (she said she didn’t know what restrictions) & I must call them to switch rooms. I’ve been through this before, Expedia will put it back on them because it’s their issue. I reminded her that I am on vacation & I am not calling Expedia for a problem at the hotel. She said she would talk to her manager and get back to me. Sure, fine. I had to keep following up. They eventually said they spoke to the manager who said they can only move me to the 4th floor. Nope. They were trying to put me in a handicapped accessible room because I have a service dog. I told her that because I have a service dog doesn’t mean I’m handicapped. Let’s get educated here.||Next update to the WiFi issue - I followed up on the WiFi and was told that someone was coming out tomorrow, which would have been Tuesday. I told them this is something they should have informed me of as I was checking in, calling me or sending me an email. How do you rent a room knowing there’s an issue and don’t say anything? I’m a therapist and had to cancel about 6 sessions due to no WiFi. The WiFi worked by the pool, however no privacy & unprofessional. Then they eventually said on. On Monday late afternoon that they can move me to the other side further away from the pool. I said, “you realize I’m leaving on Wednesday, right?” No point in moving now, my sessions were already canceled. |The saga continued. If you are looking at my room (128) to enter it, to the right of my room is the maintenance room. I heard staff going in & out of the room and banging in there starting around 7 am and going well after 8pm, I heard it 10 pm for the duration of my stay. So, the door opening & closing all day, conversations all day, etc. Annoying to say the least.||The bathroom door doesn’t latch on to close. My small dog pushed it open. Why did I mention this? The room has two beds, typically meant for more than one person, with a bathroom door that doesn’t latch closed.|No shower curtain, the toilet is right in from of the shower. Pray that you don’t have to use the toilet if someone is in the shower, they will get a full show or have to wait. There’s no tub, hope you don’t like baths or have kids that take baths. Also, on the heels of no shower curtain the water pools up and goes over the rubber barrier and you have to put a lot of towels down otherwise you will slip. The cold water faucet in the bathroom sink doesn’t get cold no matter how long you let it run. It stays room temperature.|There was one time water pooled under the mini fridge and my suitcase and sneakers got wet. I had to move it all, including the mini fridge, and clean it all up.||For the rest of room there are holes in the curtains covering the window. There is a table/desk and no chair, guess you’re eating in bed or have work to do you are standing or doing it from bed.|There is no closet & no safe to put your valuables in.|Outside the hotel area was okay. You can’t enter the pool area past 7 pm, you can’t even sit there to just enjoy sitting outside vs swimming. If you want to sit outside it’s in a grassy area with picnic tables that is shared with random day laborers, landscapers, etc. Also I’ve seen people walk over from the Citibank side, and sit at the tables. One woman was in blue scrubs using that area. If you are trying to relax at the pool you have day laborers sitting at these tables with their portable speakers blaring music that not the whole world wants to hear. There were other day laborers in the parking lot drinking & belching, that’s aways nice to hear while you are trying to relax.|A large family was in that “sitting” area socializing and doing their thing and their kids were literally playing soccer in the parking lot. Like I want to hear that outside my window. Your entire family is monopolizing that area, go play soccer in the grass.|The only two positives, the AC works great & most days I had the pool to myself all day until around 5 pm or later, then I left when all the kids came.|When I asked to be comped for the first 2 ½ days due to all of the issues I was offered a total of 15% of the first two nights. They also left me a “treat” bag of a tiny bag of chocolate chex mix, Hershey kisses, two small chocolate squares and a small bottle of water. Thanks, you shouldn’t have, really. I left that in the room, they can keep it. At the end they “generously” waived the very late checkout fee of $55.|Find a better hotel if you want to enjoy...
Read moreAll of these years, I have been a valued member of the "Wyndham" Hotel chain. I have been a guest at some of the most elite Wyndham Hotels, especially in my hometown of Boca Raton, Florida; The Wyndham of Boca Raton. Then, there was the lovely Hawthorn Suites in West Palm Beach, the Ramada Inns, the Super 8's, the Day's Inn, etc. etc. However, when I read that Wyndham was purchasing the La Quinta Inn chain, I couldn't wait to try out a Hotel that I have NEVER yet frequented. I waited until the acquisition finally occurred and IMMEDIATELY transferred over SOME, not ALL, of my Wyndham "Points", simply to try out One Night at a La Quinta Inn. I AM severely Visually Impaired so had to take over 3 Buses to reach the La Quinta Inn that is located on Okeechobee Blvd in West Palm Beach. When the bus driver let me off, I was a tad bit disappointed - the hotel appeared older and set back from a major busy road. I was wondering if perhaps it was a mistake that I had redeemed some of my Points to this specific hotel? Then, as I slowly made my way to the entrance, I walked into the Lobby and a friendly voice called out to me. It was there that I met ⭐"DARLENE"⭐. No, I certainly did NOT make a mistake by travelling all the way up to this specific La Quinta Inn! I explained to this "Darlene" that I was "Legally Blind" and could HEAR her but not SEE her. This woman that was in charge of the Front Desk assisted me in every way possible. I informed her that because my eyesight was so poor, my HEARING was impeccable and could I POSSIBLY have an EXTREMELY QUIET Room, perhaps upstairs, away from all of the traffic and automobiles below in the parking lot? Not only did Darlene place me on the highest level of the hotel, she also graciously provided me with a room at the END of the hallway. Even MORE Quiet!!! Yes, as I previously wrote, from the outside, the building DID appear "older". But the INSIDE??? I IMMEDIATELY picked up the room telephone and called downstairs to THANK Darlene and inform her how absolutely LOVELY my room was! TWO huge Double Beds, a Closet, a Microwave, a Refrigerator, of course a Television, and even a Bathtub! Additionally, brand NEW pretty wood colored "Flooring". Not to mention a separate CLOSET. Yes, Wyndham IS an upperscale Hotel Chain, but there ARE establishments that actually do NOT include a "closet". Cleanliness? Not a speck of dirt ANYWHERE! AND absolutely NO lingering smell of Cigarettes as in my other hotels! Every single one of La Quinta Inn's rooms are NONsmoking. My room was absolutely PERFECT. Again, I have stayed at EVERY Wyndham Hotel there possibly is. I'm hesitant to write this but several of Wyndham's Hotels did NOT provide more than 5-10 minutes of HOT Water. This La Quinta Inn? NONSTOP Hot Water. Fresh clean towels. Soaps. Also, as far as the Wifi that fails to "stay on" in regular hotels/motels? No codes are necessary to punch in to access the wifi here and not once did La Quinta's WiFi "go out" on me as I used it on my spare telephone. Conclusion? My one test night at La Quinta Inn has now turned into THREE nights!!! And, that, along with the room, is due to Front Desk "Darlene's" assistance and utter kindness. Wyndham Hotel Chain certainly made the wisest decision to have La Quinta Inns join their franchise, and I certainly did the same by choosing La Quinta Inn, on Okeechobee Blvd, in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is now my 3rd Night here in the CLEANEST, most SPACIOUS, Best Smelling Wyndham Room I have ever been a guest of - thank you, La Quinta Inn and Thank YOU, Darlene! 🛏 🛏 🛁 🚿🚿 🖥. Most Sincerely, Miss...
Read moreI made a reservation for a one night stay checking in on 5/5/17. This reservation was made well in advanced, April 3rd 2017. I was traveling from out of town with friends and we were coming for an event. I chose this particular hotel due to the proximity to the venue and the fact that I had stayed 3 or 4 times in the past for similar events, and each occasion had been a pleasant one. Upon arriving to the hotel at approximately 6:30, I was informed that my room was not yet ready, despite the fact that check in time is 3 pm. Having to be at our event at 8 pm, we proceeded to use the restroom in the lobby and head out. I double checked with the girl at the front desk who assured me that my room would be ready in one hour and there would be absolutely no problem checking in after the event as there would be somebody at the desk all night. Upon returning from our event, anxious to check in, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked and that my room was not available. We were offered a voucher for Inns of America which was approximately 8 miles away. We tried unsuccessfully to secure an Uber and asked if a cab could be provided as didn't feel we should drive. We were told that the manager said no cabs could be provided. Ultimately we made arrangements to stay with friends who were also in town for the event. I was told to expect a call from the manager the following day which never happened, so I took it upon myself to call the following Monday. I received a call back from Justin, who apologized and offered 3,000 points for my inconvenience. Inconvenience is putting it lightly. Reservations were Made far enough in advanced to ensure that we had a room. I understand the cleaning staff was running behind and did not make a big deal about not being able to get into the room before the event, despite wanting to shower and change first. After enjoying a show and a few drinks, the last thing I expected was to be told that I had no room and that I would have to drive or secure my own transportation to a hotel that was further away. Then to not receive a call as promised, and have to follow up myself. And to top it off, as a consolation for the inconvenience, be offered points that cannot be used for anything is insulting. I have sent an email to corporate but have not heard back. I returned to WPB this week for another event and am glad I had already made reservations at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Highly...
