The only good part of this stay was most the staff in the restaurant.
I called the day before our stay to ask if they had anything available for birthdays. The conversation was awkward and the person on the phone seemed like maybe they were new. I was put on hold so they could ask. They returned quite a long time later and asked if they could help me. I replied that I was waiting for someone with information about a birthday. "Oh, I forgot we had that conversation" was her reply and she laughed. She said sometimes they could do chocolate covered strawberries. I said that would be great and she asked how many I wanted. I asked the cost and she wasn't sure. She put me on hold again. Came back and said she'd have to have her manager call me. At this point I said nevermind and she told me since she already wrote it down, someone would call me back. I made sure she had my phone number and name. No one ever called me back.
When we checked in the next day, we arrived later than expected because our flight delayed landing due to storms. The suite that we paid extra for and already checked into via the app had been given away. Same goes for our friends' room. It took them quite awhile to get us into new rooms which is not what you hope for after a long day of travel delays. When we got into our room, the AC was not cold and the ceiling was discolored with portions of it missing. It honestly looked like it would cave in at any moment. The bathroom did not feel clean; there were sequins / glitter on the floor. The room and bathroom were really dated and felt pretty gross.
The saving grace was the following staff that prepared specialty coffee and helped us during breakfast: Maria Gomez, Sandra, Raul Jr., Jeremiah, JJ and Eden. These employees were kind, helpful and pleasant.
When we tried to eat dinner at the restaurant, there was only one table seated and we were told there'd be a 30min wait because they were short staffed. When we finally were seated and ordered, they brought me a meal that wasn't mine. When I pointed out it wasn't what I ordered I was asked if I wanted that instead. No, I want what I ordered.
When we checked out, the person checking us out was Jolene, the same person I spoke with on the phone the day before our arrival. We had been charged for the room we reserved but didn't get. She told us it was the same price. It wasn't, because we paid extra for this. After a lot of long silences and blank stares she called her manager who said they'd call back after fixing the issue. They called back and she gave us updated paperwork. The issue wasn't fixed. Jolene continued to tell us it was fixed, and we kept showing her that it wasn't. Her manager called back and fixed the issue, but It took us nearly 45minutes to check out.
We transferred to the Doubletree by the hotel (on Tower) and it was a night and...
Read moreI have princess level standards, but sometimes there isn't a Waldorf nearby. I also don't write many reviews, but the superb level of cleanliness and the courtesy of the staff at the DoubleTree Hilton in Denver-Westminster warrants commendation. The level of detail was apparent in the polishing of every surface, ledge and picture frame. I dropped a cord behind the large TV console, and there was not a single piece of fuzz or detritus lurking like there would be in a lot of hotels. (Trust me, I'm clumsy and discover all the yucky niches.). I was also surprised in the morning to see that several members of the cleaning staff had been working on the floor because I had not heard any knocking or talking in the hallway, even though it was 11:30. This is a level of courtesy and reverence for guest comfort that I usually experience at a higher end hotels, and it was evident that the management aspires to make guests as comfortable as possible.
Overall, the 2 queen room felt spacious with large picture windows. The bed was very soft and comfortable, and I would guess it had a memory foam compnent.
It was an unusually warm spring night and the heat was working maybe too well, but could easily be turned off. I was able to open the window partially to allow some fresh Colorado air into the room.
The hotel is offset from the highway in a tree lined office park. My east facing room had no discernable outside noise and I could see my car below in the parking lot against a backdrop of mature pine trees.
The furnishings and bathroom were simple but updated, and the room had a refrigerator and a double cup Cuisinare Coffee maker . (There is a microwave in the lobby store).
Additional features I appreciated were being able to choose my own room and use a digital key (which actually worked consistently.)
I did not use the pool, hot tub or fitness center, but they looked clean and well maintained. The gym was surprisingly extensive with a lot of high quality, professional gym equipment available.
In most cases, I wouldn't give 5 stars overall due to the age of the property and the obvious limitations it presents, but in my opinion the manager couldn't do anything better in regards to service and cleanliness, and sometimes a good clean hotel in the right place is priceless.
If you are looking for an impeccably clean, quiet night's rest in the Denver Westminster area, and you can forgive the older aesthetic of the building itself, I would recommend...
Read moreFor a Hilton property, this hotel was not up to par. We stayed here during Christmas of 2023. At first glance, everything looked nice but then you start noticing esthetic issues. Panels are missing from the bathroom and deep scratches on the walls in the lobby and hallways, etc.
Our room key card never worked except for the first day. After that, we needed to have the card re-activated each and every time. The electronic key app on my husband's phone never even worked one time. We were visiting our son in Denver so when we got back to our room late at night, tired from the day, it was SO frustrating to find out the keys don't work and have to go back to the desk to have them re-set. One day, even after re-setting the keys, they would not work. A maintenance man had to come change the battery in our door pad. The next day, the keys failed to work yet again.
Regarding housekeeping, we passed on housekeeping the first day and just found a housekeeper and took new towels. The following day, we requested full housekeeping service and I watched the man key in that request on his computer. Housekeeping never came so when we got back to the hotel late at night, we had to go to the desk and get towels again. When the lotion bottle attached to the bathroom wall ran out, we requested that they replace the bottle. The new bottle was just laying on our bed when we got to our room at night, not attached to the wall, which we were unable to do on our own because we didn't have the tool needed to remove the old one. We never did receive housekeeping services our entire stay.
There were several brown stains on the towels and curtain rods that were there when we arrived- I don't want to even guess what they were. :(
On a good note, the room had a lot of potential. It was spacious and had three walls of very large windows which we enjoyed. The hotel bar was nice and both bartenders were very friendly. There was a lot of storage in the room, including two large closets, a large dresser, and a small, cut out area with a ledge, microwave, small fridge, and coffee area. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was friendly and, let's face it, the cookies are always amazing!
If this hotel was recently purchased, let's hope they are in the process of improving. If not, I suspect this will continue to...
