Our experience was just "ok". Not bad, not good.
My husband and I went here for the first time on a date night and the place wasn't overly packed-- busy but there were multiple tables open. However, the host informed us there would be a 30min wait. Feeling a little confused we asked why the wait and she informed us the kitchen was backed up. Ok, no biggie, we can go walk around the shopping options while we wait. Then the hostess took my husband's phone number and said she's sending a text now and then also when the table would be ready. He never received the first text and when we went back to ensure the hostess didn't fat-finger his phone number, she was chatting with another employee at the hostess station and stated the network/internet went down and she was just about to come find us. Hmmm....the TVs were still on and she was clearly in no rush to find us.
Either way, we were eventually sat towards the back ot the restaurant. It took a good 10 mins for a server to acknowledge our existence at her table. That said, she was very pleasant throughout our experience and would be the only reason for 4 stars. She gave us some history behind the name and food. When I went to order a cocktail I asked for her suggestions and she asked me what I typically like in a cocktail. She then suggested something but then backed that suggestion up stating they were out of a particular ingredient for the drink (champagne something, I don't recall). We worked out a modification but then I noticed there are several drinks with that ingredient in which they are out of. Interesting...
Food-- We ordered an appetizer and were brought the wrong one but this was quickly fixed. My husband ordered a Brisket Burger and I ordered a Turkey French Dip, we both got fries. The burger was fantastic! Very juicy and flavorful. The turkey was awful. The meat was dry and there was a strong presence of the spice rosemary. I couldn't tell if the rosemary was in the meat, bread or aju. The flavors didn't mesh well. The fries were soggy. However, I'll give them props for the homemade fry sauce. Overall, the food was simply "ok".
Other observations-- the decor inside is impressive! Light fixtures are upscale, the bar is a great feature, the windows make the space feel bigger and the patio is well- kept. That in mind, we were a bit confused about what this restaurant's true theme is. There are TVs with sports on the all around but the music which also played is very "poppy"/top 40 pop. There were several families with small children and then other younger couples and middle aged couples as well. We couldn't decide if the overall appeal is to families or a younger crowd and is it a sports bar? Or an upscale bar for a Saturday night date or girls night? With the new and upcoming neighborhood this place is in, there was a disconnect for us with some of the choices in theme.
Otherwise, there didn't seem to be much of a uniform amongst the servers. Aside from the fairly consistent blk t-shirt, there were super short shorts. Which is great, except if they were going after an upscale bar/restaurant, the shorts didn't really fit. There was one server wearing floral pants, a blk top and a white button down which sloppily fell off her shoulders because it was worn as a jacket. Although both of these uniform points are simply an observation, if they're going to something more upscale, they might consider tightening up the presentation standards.
Was just a weird experience for the $80 we spent for 2 dinners and one drink. If we go back, I'll definitely order a burger vs anything else and expect a bit of a wait despite the open tables. In addition, the 20% addition for service/gratuity is simply odd, but would explain why the employees are sort of nonchalant about providing proactive service. They're getting 20% no matter what. And then what's even more bazaar is the server stands there with their little device while you make split second decisions on an additional...
Read moreWhile I've been a regular patron of this establishment for quite some time and have generally had positive experiences, my recent visit left much to be desired. I visited the restaurant to enjoy the game and have a drink in a lively atmosphere. Upon entering, I was greeted by Paul, the bartender, who promptly asked for my drink order. Initially unsure, I requested something sweet. However, when he requested my ID, I realized I had forgotten it—a rare occurrence given my frequent visits. Nonetheless, I assured him it wasn't an issue and indicated I wouldn't be drinking.
Unfortunately, what followed was a disappointing series of events. Despite waiting patiently for 25 minutes, I wasn't served. I was later informed that my lack of engagement (checking my phone) led to me being overlooked for food orders. This surprised me as I was actively watching the game and briefly attending to messages. Growing increasingly dissatisfied and noticing inconsistencies in Paul's approach to ID checks, I requested to speak with the manager.
After an additional 45 minutes of waiting, I approached Paul again to inquire about the delay in service. His response, citing a vague "gut feeling" and a dubious interaction, left me perplexed. Despite my efforts to understand, Paul's explanation was unsatisfactory as he stated because I complained he was not going to serve me. I then reiterated my expectation of equal service and expressed my disappointment in the lack thereof.
Furthermore, I questioned the establishment's policy on refusing service, to which Paul could not provide a clear answer or present any documented policy, if it indeed exists. This lack of transparency and consistency is concerning, especially considering the treatment I received as a loyal customer.
In summary, I felt belittled, marginalized, discriminated against during my visit, an experience far removed from the welcoming environment I've come to expect. I believe that Paul's conduct does not align with the values of this establishment, and his inconsistent application of policies, particularly regarding ID checks, is troubling. As a result, I urge management to address these issues promptly to ensure all patrons are treated with respect...
Read more1st time visit. The burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. The fries we over cooked and cold. The service was terrible and the server/hostess needs some significant training. I did a phone order. I ordered three burgers for pick up. When I arrived, I asked for some ranch for our fries and tots. The girl at the pick up hesitated and then ask someone to bring some ranch. The other girl said she would bring two. I asked the 1st girl for a 3rd. Since we ordered 3 burger. She again hesitated and ran after the girl and told her I needed three. The 1st server came back and said I should have asked for the ranch when I ordered my burgers. I did not appreciate her statement and tone. I reminded her that that is her job and she should have asked me if I needed it when I ordered or even when I picked up. She didn't like my answer and asked if she should have someone else help me. I agreed and said please do. At this time another server dropped off 2 sides of ranch and said that is is the last of the ranch, insinuating that they gave me the last drops of ranch they has in the whole restaurant. Really?? Going back to server 1, she asked a young gentleman to come and help me and told him I asked for ranch. He came over and I asked to speak to the manager. He left and another girl stepped in an wanted to ring me up, I said I wanted to speak to the manager. She asked I she could help and I asked again to speak to the manager. She said what is the problem. I explained my issues and the servers appreciate tone and demand. Then the manager came up behind and introduced himself. He was nice and stated that the initial serves should have not had happened like that. He discounted my order 25%. His discount is the only reason this place gets 3 stars. The service from those female servers was horrible and they need to be retrained! This whole experience was terrible. I was hoping to find a new burger joint close to home but this...
