I live in the area but I've been staying at different hotels at different prices the last week and testing different ways of booking for fun. I needed a local place to stay since unexpectedly I needed a mental health solo vacation that's close to work. I literally pack a bag in 20 minutes and left home. With that said I think the front staff may judge based off looks.
When you get in you pay a 50$ extra fee for insurance. I didn't see that when I booked. I wish they were more upfront about initial cost. That fee should be given back but it's been two days and it still hasn't dropped off my card.
CHECK your rooms when you get in. I paid for a single king at about $150 for one night after shopping places between $130-200.
My partner still brought me extra blankets from home because the room comforter was thin for what I like (I'm sure I could have asked for another blanket but girl upfront seemed annoyed). He stayed for dinner and a movie but I was the only one staying the night.
For two people expect to pay about 70-120 at minimum for dinner with drinks at the restaurant. 20$ for a burger but the food and staff was great- worth the price. They have other places in walking distance you can eat at too if you're wanting cheaper.
The first room I got had someone's underwear in the trash, a clump of hair on the bathroom floor and the fridge was unplugged. I asked the girl on staff how long after I plugged it back it would it take to cool (I had cold food for meds I needed to take). The girl said she didn't know and "probably 20 min? Sorry about that."
We didn't find the underwear until we got back into the room with our food and paid for a movie (theater movies are about 20$). This happened because we threw our dinner trash in there but the smell made me nauseous so I asked my partner to take out the burger containers so we can just put it in the takeout bag to conceal the smell. He grabbed it out but also unknowingly picked up someone's underwear that was left in there. We were very disgusted. He immediately washed his hands and thankfully was already done eating.
I called down stairs and was told they might be able to transfer me but she'd have to check. I asked if the movie was transferrable but it wasn't so we had to finish up there. When I did get transfer I got an upgrade which had all the same stuff but just more floor space (the pics). I tried to make hot water (no microwave) with the Nespresso. This particular version can't do that but but they provide tea so I assumed. I also always check keurigs because I'm concerned they're not descaled. These don't looks to be (pic attached).
It may be have just been the girl upfront last night but the one I spoke to this morning seemed much friendlier and approachable. She greeted me like any other guest. The one last night felt like I was getting judged and she didn't want to deal with me. She also said she's alert a manager in the morning but no one ever reached out. The owner is fast to reply to reviews.
PROS: Rooms didn't have any strong odors from cleaning, AC isn't very loud (the Hilton had a louder AC) and it cooled down in 10 mins from 78 to 70, it's quiet, no carpet other than rugs, and I liked the style. The fitness room closes at 11. There were also a good amount of TV options. Rooms are spacious, if not wide, then in height. Multiple lighting options that can be dimmed. There's also an over head fan with speed controls.
CONS: No room service or laundry services. The girl upfront told me there was a place to do laundry down the street. No microwave. Outside of the girl I met the next morning- no staff greeted me. The blackout curtains leave small gaps and can be hard to move because of how high the ceilings are. The light switches had bright LEDs on them so you can see them but can be bright in the dark. TV size doesn't change per room.
I wanted to extend a night but I decided it wasn't worth it. I loved the look when I first walked in but I think I'd rather spend the extra 100$ and just got back...
Read moreThe hotel itself looks nice. Pretty new and well designed. The room itself was spacious. I paid a bit extra for a mountain view room - probably not worth it as you can't see the mountains from the bed only when you are standing at the window. But fine nonetheless. At check-in I was informed that house keeping only comes by request otherwise does not visit during your stay. I've not really heard of something like this - definitely not having linens changed daily but at minimum they come make the bed, tidy up, etc. I immediately informed them that I would like room service each day of my stay. In my room I noticed that there wasn't any conditioner - I wasn't too worried since I knew house keeping would come the next day and replace. I left for a day of hiking and was glad to come back to a clean room. But, there was still no conditioner. So I called down to the front desk. It took 20-30 minutes to get conditioner - it was a bit annoying since I was eager to shower and get to dinner after a long day of hiking but ultimately within reason. The next day I stayed in bed all day - I noticed that house keeping didn't come but assumed it was because I was in there. No big deal. Because I had a recovery day in bed I did accumulate more trash than the day before since I ate all of my meals there. Nothing crazy but any food trash in an open room is meh. While I was in bed that day the bed started to vibrate. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I realized it was a washing machine going through the spin cycle. It happened several times and was actually making me a bit nauseous (I moved to a chair but it didn't help since it was shaking the entire floor). I was on the 4th floor and assumed the washing machine must be right above me. At 6:30 it was still going on so I asked the front desk about it on my way to dinner at Famille. Turns out the washing machine is on the 2nd floor but was shaking all the way up all the floors of the building. It was still going around 7:30 pm but they informed me they had 5 more minutes and it would be done. They also said the person above me on the 5th floor had already complained, too, and they had moved that person. The next day I intentionally left the "Yes, Please" sign on my door to ensure house keeping knew it was good to come by. I left for the day and came back late in the afternoon to an unmade room with my trash from the past 2 days piling up. I called down to the front desk and they said there wasn't any note on my account to have house keeping come by. I explained I had requested it at check-in so they took a look and saw that it was on the first day but then disappeared after that. No clue what happened but at check in I did specify every day. (Also, this is why house keeping should at minimum come by daily even if they don't change the linens but at least take trash, etc.) The woman at the front desk was really sweet (she actually told me it was her last day with the company, such a loss for them because she was great) - she offered free breakfast and a free drink. She brought me sheets and towels so I could change the bed myself (she said there wasn't anyone from house keeping still there at 4 PM and the "house boy," as she called him, didn't show for work).
So - all in all a nice looking hotel but meh on the service I would expect from this level of hotel. Based on other reviews it seems like the hotel has had ongoing issues with house keeping - I can excuse that during the heart of the pandemic or for a month or two but it is obviously an ongoing issue that they haven't been able to work out. For that reason, I ultimately would not...
Read moreWe were a group of six that dropped down to a group of five midway into the week. When you walk into the entrance of the hotel, there is a empty lobby room before you completely enter in the actual entrance of the hotel that area smelled so bad and it stayed smelling bad for the whole week we were there. We stayed at this hotel for a whole week and we had the bedroom with a one master bed and the two bunkbeds in the second room. When we first came into the hotel my initial thought was wow this place is spacious except I feel like there was a lot missing because of how spacious it was. They had a couch and a table and then they had like a little side desk, but my issue was right there where the bunk bedroom is there was like this huge empty space that was just empty. Even in the bunkbed room there was just a random corner of just empty space. My other issue was that it wasn’t very clean, in the bunkbed area there was somebody’s hair hanging off the wall of the bunkbed, pieces of hair on the bed, old candy wrappers hanging from the top against the wall in the bunk bedroom. Crumbs were everywhere for some reason on the floor in the bedroom and everywhere else honestly. The walls not just the bedrooms but also in the living room we’re kind of very dirty and pieces of paint were missing. We had so many issues with the TV remotes Connecting to the TV and there was three TVs in that hotel room so I don’t understand why all three remotes were having issues getting signal to the TV. Then I think it was either day two or three in the trip our power went out at three in the morning and only reason why we knew cause two of my group mates were up at that time, and it never came back on. Even when the rest of us woke up at 8 AM, so we made a complaint with the receptionist downstairs and from what one of our group mate said she seemed new because all she said was oh OK I can just put in a work order for you…didn’t give us a ETA of when I was going to be fixed and no apology. We were in the hotel room for extra three hours before we were beginning to head out and the power was still not on. So some of us had to shower in the master bedroom bathroom that was completely dark. The only lights that were on was in the living room and in the second bathroom. Later that day when we came back, they left a card saying they fixed it, but they didn’t write down what time they fixed it or anything so we don’t even know how long left they waited to fix the lights by the time we got back. I could not stand the pressure of the shower heads, not only was the water pressure so strong that one of them was leaking water on the side but the pressure of the water coming out the showerhead was like almost slightly painful because of how strong it was. Then on the very last day of our trip I’m assuming one of the bathrooms upstairs started leaking water through the wall and it made a bubble in the paint and then busted open… we spent over $2500 for a week at this hotel that was not worth the price at all! The only reason why I gave the two stars is because the convenient walkable places nearby (coffee shops, restaurants, small shops, grocery...
