Avoid this place!!!! If you stay here, watch your bill and your credit card for unexpected fees.
I stayed here for one night in July. I was in the middle of a road trip and I needed a place to sleep. I checked in at around midnight, and I was gone by 7:30 the next morning. The room was worn around the edges, but clean enough. Uneventful stay.....or so I thought.
Several days after my stay I got an e-mailed copy of the bill. There was an unexpected $50 line item for a screen fee. I called and spoke with one of the owners who accused me of “punching” the window screen out. I explained that not only did I not do that, I never even touched the window. I don’t even know for sure if the window is capable of opening.
The owner was extremely rude, and refused to accept that it was even possible that the window screen fell without being “punched”. The owner was aggressive and confrontational, and unwilling to listen to reason. I couldn’t believe that I was being held responsible for a maintenance issue outside of the room. I did not damage anything at this place, I’m 100% sure.
This was my first, and last, experience with a super 8 - but given that it is advertised as being associated with Wyndham I gave it a try. If you call Wyndham to complain they will explain to you that they cannot help because this is an independently owned location. I don’t know why the place is branded Wyndham if they have no involvement with it at all. Basically the Wyndham name gives undeserved credibility to what is essentially a small family owned independent motel.
I’ve waited to write this review until I was absolutely sure that the outcome was final. I have no recourse to get my money back other than small claims court which is simply not worth it. This place scammed me out of $50, don’t let it...
Read moreWe only stayed for one night, passing through.
The location is somewhat ideal. However, I would’ve paid a little bit more to stay closer into wheeling. Not saying that this was a bad hotel by any means just incredibly outdated.
It is right off the interstate, parking is a little weird because as soon as you get off the interstate, you take a right into the parking as the hotel is on a slope.
We checked in on a Saturday afternoon, the front desk female was incredibly nice. Stepping into the lobby, we were greeted very cheerfully. I could not help but notice the incredibly outdated decorations. The furniture felt like I was transported back to the 90s. We were on the first floor not too far from the check-in, it seems like the first floor was more of a storage than anything. I couldn’t help but notice the gym was closed and packed full of boxes and the conference room was used as pretty much storage.
The room itself wasn’t that bad, but once again we only saved about $50 and I probably will stay somewhere else. Next time I am visiting. Our AC kept kicking on and off it didn’t ever seem to stay on, and like I said we only stayed one night and that was pretty much all we needed. if you were just passing through or cautious about spending an arm and a leg on a hotel, then this is definitely your option. I did feel safe just wish they would spend a little bit...
Read moreThis place is actually in Ohio, not in West Virginia as shown on Maps. Your arrival is saluted by the smell of fresh south Asian cooking throughout the hotel. Staff are friendly and deferential but the hotel room itself is lacking in some standard areas. If I remember right mine didn't even have a closet to hang up a shirt overnight. I could be wrong. There was also a whole part of the "suite" that was sort of half closed off due to major renovation. The whole hotel was in a state of construction. Work equipment everywhere, smell of paint etc. Obvious signs of long term residents and food smells almost all the way down the hallway even on the 2nd floor which I had to access via stairs. That was fine because the maintenance didn't leave me anticipating a good elevator experience anyway. I guess if you want to stay in eastern Ohio, this place is a cheap option, but, you get what you pay for. The so called free breakfast here was nonexistent--nothing more than a juice machine. And to get to the hotel you have to drive through/past the parking lot of a Denny's that's about as...
